  • My latest 3D Printed project is this GIANT LEGO Go-Kart large enough for me to ride! Yes I'm hoping this time that this version will be big enough for me to ride! In this video I design and build the seat so that it will be strong enough to take my weight and offer some support.. while still being made out of XXL Lego!

    • @zeldatrek
      @zeldatrek Před 4 lety +3

      @@pixelyz7792 Would never get the smooth rounded edges. Unless you're talking about grinding up small legos, melting them down, and ultimately turning legos into printable filament? I mean wow that would be an undertaking. It's already hard enough to make usable filament with a consistent diameter out of a soft plastic like number 2 let alone Lego PLA.

      @@MattDenton did you have the 8858 engines set too? There was one of the 4 you could mount on the rear of 853 to replace the front i4. :)

    I would do is put 2 orange pieces on this pork beans by the seat, so it looks like it's not just held together, make it look like a supported by another Lego piece.

    I love it. It looks very cool. When I was a child making Lego cars (and I made lots of them) I often fantasised about being able to them. Looks like you are almost there. Hats off & well done on the work so far.

    One mod I would try is to have the stud covers of the chair half as thick since they don't need to be as strong. However those pieces would be made of pine. Hold on I'm not finished so don't jump off the edge. You still there??? Good.
    I would then cut pieces of high density foam and glue them to the corresponding parts. Lastly, stretch poly vinyl over those pieces and have the edges stapled into the wood (the reason to use wood instead of plastic in this case). That way they still have that plastic look. The wedges would have to be stitched together to look right but it can be done.
    I mean a human needs at least some shock absorption.

    I would love it if you eventually did it at real life scale. (Aka 45 times Lego size.) It seems like your building of experience with how to deal with this stuff. (Maybe you can even get a sponsored big 3D printer? :). )

    • @MattDenton
      @MattDenton  Před 4 lety

      45 times scale would be way too big!!

    Really nice to see you build this; on 2:55 I noticed the black 2x1 plates in the middle of the side supports which did not make it to the assembled version. On the Cad version they look great however, so my question is: are you going to fit them, maybe in a low weight type of material in order to keep the weight down?
    Further more: Great project, really nice how you record and present it; can’t wait for the next episode. Cheers👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

    • @MattDenton
      @MattDenton  Před 4 lety

      Thanks! The 2x1 plates on the side supports didn't fit.. I hadn't noticed in the cad they were interfering with another part. I may modify them to fit as they do look good 👍👍

    This is just awesome. I would try the back support without that flat bottom piece, so your lower back sits against the studs, but a bit further back then with the flat piece. Just kind of looks uncomfortable to me, the flat bottom piece looks to "poke you a bit in the butt", not so much in line with the top back support.... (if you know what I mean)

    • @MattDenton
      @MattDenton  Před 4 lety

      Yeah I'll give that a go.. and maybe some padding 😬
