I remember my co worker invited me to a church and when I came in all the ladies on stage in the choir were wearing tight body con dresses. Every single lady on that stage was well endowed and curvy hourglass/pear. I was distracted and I’m a woman so I don’t know how the men in that church were able to finish that service. I’m curvy so I’d never wear a body con dress without a long cardigan. It was too much that I left and never went back to that church. The same day I accepted Christ I was convicted to wear dresses and skirts only And my Christian therapist helped me make the transition.
I don't feel comfortable in body con dresses. They seem like under clothes to me 🤷🏻♀️ Pants are acceptable, especially the more baggy style that's coming back around. But remember, if you are uncomfortable in something, don't wear it 💜

Matronly is not who we are......Women like to Dress fashionably in current Decade and Century... so the Question should be Modern..Modestly or Matronly..Sometimes Men want Women to Dress this way too...Like the worldly Women do.. For bragging rights..They want to show the Shapely Woman off/to impress their Male Friends..(Ain't My Woman Fine..Ain't She this, that or the other)..Men are Visual..They look on the Outer Appearance.. God's word say so..God can't lie..and Women know this too..That's why Beauty Shops Exist..Women go there to get regular beautification from head to toe....I have had a Guy friend of mine ask me to Post Body Photos of Myself on Facebook...Photos that display some sexy.. that will show off my curvy figure. I don't Post Body Photos online of Myself.....(Flashing My Goods for the whole world to see)....My body is for God/Jesus and my Husband..I have had a Few Guys follow me inside the church..The Mini Skirts I was wearing was bringing Single Men to the Church..Never got nasty looks from other Church Women...Some Woman may by happy and praisT the Lord..Cause her Future Hubby has arrived..He may not the My future hubby but he may have Wifed up another Woman in that Church...(There is a proper way to wear a Mini skirt by the way...With Same Color Tights as the Skirt..The Woman is still covered.) With Women After a while we notice how it's nice to Dress both Stylish, Classy and Modest..Classy can be Attractive..and Classy looks like one put forth very little effort...spent a whole lot less Money...There used to be a time when Churches had Fellowship Activities and Events...Church Socials... to help People meet up socialize with other equally yoked People. Some may have met their husband or Wife that way..
Let me say one thing too. We can go really deep about the way we feel about ourselves as women affects how we dress ourselves as well. Here is the thing, when you're single the way you dress yourself shows how much you respect yourself. Then when you are married the way you dress yourself shows how much you respect YOUR HUSBAND. Honoring your husband in this way also honors the Lord. God bless!
Why be sexy at all? Why sexy has to be the mindset in the first place? If you are serving God you are serving God. It's not about sexy. God don't want a woman to look sexy, whether in a Suttle way or not. God wants women and men to look holy. Sexy is how the devil wants you to look. It's about "sex". The key word. That's not what God wants you to project. So thow away the whole sexy talk all together and try to look modest and holy.
The devil always try to twist and pervert things, just like he did when he told eve "you will not surely die". Same thing he uses on Christian women. When they were in the world he tells them to dress sexy and project them selves in a sexual manner. But when they decide to give their lives to the lord he still tries to deceive them by telling them its still OK to look a bit sexy as long as it's Suttle or concealed sexy. Sexy is sexy. Still the same thing being projected. "Sex". The whole looking sexy mindset need to go when serving God.
I think our society puts sex in our faces too much and doesn't treat it respectfully. That is why the church body gets uncomfortable about the topic because we our hyper aware of the perversions, however we should remember that sex isn't bad it's sex in the wrong context that is bad. Married people and single ones are sexual beings but it is a very small part of what makes up a human being at least one that has the mind of Christ. We should put all things in their proper context even in our private thoughts.
One thing I will never understand is how a woman can dance , shout and be so into church but nothing convicts them to obey God's Word and dress modest. And these days it seems like the older ones are worse than the younger ones trying to advertise themselves in public and in church to get attention and feel some type of acceptance.
I walk to church, so I dress more on the casual side of the spectrum, mostly out of comfort and necessity. When I show up, it's usually in a nice shirt and pair of jeans. My rule of thumb is if I wouldn't wear it to work, I definitely shouldn't wear it to church.

When it comes to clothes we are not supposed to help Someone stumble by wearing things that are Inappropriate. Most inappropriate clothes are considered normal by the worlds standards because the world does not have biblical standards. Men can also wear women’s clothes in the world. For believers it’s a working effort on both sides. Men an women should dress modestly. How you dress can also show how you are.

I agree. Back in 1996, when the world was a little more modest (not much, but alittle) our new Assist Pastors wife walked in with fishnet stockings. I was surprised & uncomfortable. Her skirt was knee length (a bit longer) & not alot of skin showed. To me... Fishnets just scream "im sexy! Come get yours: (She contin'd to wear them periodically).
I personally believe women are responsible to dress in a way that doesn’t draw attention in a wrong way. I’m NOT saying we have to dress frumpy! Women need to realize the truth of how God made men. They are moved by sight! Women are NOT, I personally feel bad for most men today because of how much things are constantly in their face! Ladies it’s NOT hard to figure out how you should dress. Have you seen how the Gospel Singers dress at the Stellar Awards? Dresses are so tight against their body that it's ridiculous, the nails so long, the lashes, the makeup, the hair when you look at those who attend the Stellar Awards, they look no different than those at the BET Awards. Many times these women are as old as my grandmother that are dressing this way. What happened to Christian modesty? Aren't we supposed to separate ourselves from the world?
We have to be careful to not send the message that the female form is sinful. Be careful not to constantly send the message that the female body is first and foremost a object of sexual desire. The female form is just that the intended female form designed by God. So please be careful not to send the message to young girls that as soon as they start “developing” that they now need to think of their female form is now primarily sexual and will cause males to sin so cover up their developing female form. Just please be careful to let them know their body (breast, hips, etc) is divine, good, and wonderfully made. Please remember young girls are first thinking of their form in terms of self-esteem and not what their male counterparts think of their bodies. It would be wise to start the discussion concerning the female form from a divine design perspective than emphasizing so much on what men or boys are going to think of the female body which is usually sexual. Females don’t first come to know and see our breast and hips etc as sexual but rather more simply our bodies that we are learning to accept and love. So…therefore we need to keep that in mind when starting the discussion on modesty. How can we honor God with our divine female form in what we wear? It places the focus on holy rather than helping men not sin. Very different narrative and focus. Further modesty isn’t just about appropriate in terms of sexiness or exposure. It is about excessive adornment - costly, flashy, peacocking in general.

Your angle is understood! I dress for the occasion while honoring my convictions. I might be off the topic, but I see both sides of the coin. Loose clothing easily hides obesity or weight gain. When I wore clothes that exposed my weight/contour, I quickly saw my weight and pushed back from the table. When I became comfortable in my muumuu, I let myself go; my weight was out of control. I developed various struggles mentally and physically. In truth, insecurity developed with my weight gain. Internally, my envy and jealousy started attacking women who maintained decent weight sizes. I became the obese mother who attacked me. In our YWCC meeting, Mother Smith was firm but reasonable regarding women’s attire. She said, “When you’re shapely, clothing can’t conceal it, but we’re here to show you, ladies, how to sanctify it and still be attractive.” She taught us the importance of where to taper our garment to avoid being a distraction. I wear hats regularly and I'm under 60. I wore them every Sunday before COVID and church shutdowns. I still wear dresses to church and in the sanctuary especially. I wear pantyhose. I dress modestly for work and other places as well. I don't judge anyone who doesn't but that is how I feel. My physical appearance need to be appropriately presented in the Temple. And yes I believe the inside has to be dressed up and presented honorably before the Lord as well.

Cory, you are right about women dressing inappropriately. However, our pastor said while in the pulpit, during his sermon, “ladies it’s okay to look sexy…” BTW, the pastor is divorced. The praise team leader jumps up and down, body parts bouncing all around, tight clothes, etc. The praise team should wear robes. It’s embarrassing… as a female, to keep from being distracted, I look at my phone until the show is over…
Leaving is not always the answer. If you are being fed the unwatered down truth of the word of God then you supposed to be. It may be a idol in your life God is dealing with you. Don’t be distracted with the schemes of the enemy.

@@RushBoogie You’re correct! Leadership canceled those auxiliaries. They believed the mothers were too hard on the women and running them away from the church. I grew up COGIC, so I know better.
I was thinking this back several years ago when we were attending church; Non denominational, I made a comment to my husband some of these women dress like they’re ready to go to a club, rather than having respect and dressing appropriately for church service!
Or they are dressed like they're going to an amusement park, men in shorts and bare feet with flip flop shoes on. I've even seen women with jeans and cutoff tops.

1 Corinthians 10:23-24 and Phillipians 2:3 are great reminders for us to consider our brethren over ourselves. I am thankful for the women and men who poured into my life to help me understand how profitable and beautiful modesty and prudence are. Being mindful and respectful of our brothers and even some of our sisters who may be struggling with lust is a demonstration of love for them, as they are our neighbor as well. Even after I reached the age where I was allowed to wear makeup even there were certain shades of lipstick, eyeshadow and nail polish he wouldn’t allow. He was strict about dress length, bathing suits blouses how tight your clothes could be etc… I’m glad About it he was protecting & guiding me.

I'm a Christian woman. On the first Sunday for communion at my church we wear white or purple. The white dress I had showed a little bit too much at the top, so I decided to not only cover my chest I completely cover my head and put the scarf completely around my chest and it made me look like a Muslim woman. Everyone in the church looked at me like I was crazy. I wasn't trying to look like a Muslim woman I was trying to be modest. I wonder if they would have preferred if my breast were protruding out. Sometimes you can't win for losing. I am very conscious about what I wear to church now so if that means completely covering up my head along with my chest I think it's okay. Well done to you, you were doing the right thing! It’s true if you cover your head and dress modestly some Christian women think you are weird. It’s because so many of us don’t have that kind of self awareness and “shame facedness” I have noticed that a lot of decent modest dresses are deliberately frumpy in some cases or will have a unnecessary huge split lol. If we lead by good example according to the scriptures it will help. Also some of us need to take responsibility and stop blaming the men for looking- many of us know what we are doing.

My mom always had a rule with Church wear nothing lower than your collar bone and nothing higher than your knee & your arms and shoulders have to be covered.
My life is split 50/50 as a former Catholic and now born again Christian. I’m almost 50. Modesty in all my churches has never existed. Simple truth. 🤷🏻♂️
The choir robes had me laughing because I grew up COGIC. When a women came to church with something that was deemed inappropriate, a church mother would give her a robe to wear or a sheet! LOL 😆 In 2022 I think its so bad that everyone needs to just wear robe to church so we're all unified. We'll just be practicing for what's to come when we get our White Robes lol.

My style of choice is Regency 🤷🏻♀️ 4 under layers, basically shapeless floor length dress, and a shawl or jacket, in a time when society demanded women be lady-like and men be gentlemen.
Ehh Regency women weren't exactly shapeless. It was cut to emphasize the cleavage. If you were busty, it's pretty easy to catch the attention of a man in Regency wear. Every era has their own versions of sexy dress. We may think it's conservative, but the people in those time periods certainly didn't.

We live in the USA, and clothes and clothing are readily available. There is a marked different between your clothing or clothes fitting OR being tight.
When the bible speaks about "modesty", yes it can be applied to both sexes, but as the bibles emphasizes women, because it's an acknowledgement that the woman was made for the man (Genesis 2:20-22), as a gift from God to man, in which the purpose is always for man to be close to the gift-giver (God) that's why the woman will have the man's attention. Modesty is dead in most churches today, but I think the 70’s and 80’s churches based on what my parents tell me, we’re tooooo conservative. Green dress in your thumbnail is on the border. The ladies today want you to see their figure just like every other woman… not all, but a lot.
4git bout it, 70s churches were full of hippies, the style was barefoot and muslin, see through and mini skirts. Youth groups were packed. 80s everyone had $$ and fashion was punkgothmetalnewwavehiphop. It was the beginning of the megachurches, where the church catered to the youth, the boys wanted to be "cross and the switchblade" the girls madonna/Debbie Harry.

The whole goth punk thing you mentioned definitely has not happened in black churches.... Like ever. black ppl may wear that stuff now but it's really recent and def not seen in church. so be careful making generalizations cause they don't apply to everyone. Sometimes ppl really are different, and that's okay too.

In defense of my own kind Sometimes it is hard to find womens clothes that fit right. I wear jeans because I hate dresses and skirts I ain’t ladylike enough for that. But they either make our clothes too tight or to big a lot of the time. Especially if your tall like me. And even if it seems to be fine when you buy it or put it on then later on when you are wearing it, it’s not 😐 So some of us are trying but fail sometimes. But you are so right though we don’t need to be dressing to show our stuff with them tart clothes they got in the Walmart now lol 😂 lord help my daughter when she’s a teenager because these clothes are getting ridiculous

I share similar issues because of my frame and shape. What I find helpful is to find clothes that fit the biggest part of me-usually my shoulders and bust then tailor as needed to get the look I want. If the concern is modesty, that may be an option for you. I've shopped in the maternity section, menswear, thrift stores. Whatever works. The sky really is the limit when it comes to modest wear. LOL!!! i had a little 4" spiral notebook that i titled "Chicktionary" ....i listed girls i liked or met in alphabetical order and ranked them from A+ to C (you had to be at least a C to get in the book!! lol)...i would give them additional ranking points if i got their number, which i also included in the book lol
Very good topic.. and I be talking to my wife about this very topic...I'm a 45 year old black man... and I know this has been way out of hand for many years...in our black churches...... being that I'm a truck driver and I have been to many different areas of the country... and I must say that our lighter skin sisters in the average churches.. take dressing appropriately very seriously...... they dress accordingly EVERYDAY.. and that's how it supposed to be.... even in other religions the women dress appropriately.......... back in the days the women in church would try to out due each other with the hats...... but in the late 90s the younger women took over and it's all about the bodies and trying to take that woman's husband in the church........I'm from Memphis TN and I know all about it..

I’ve experienced that a few men couldn’t figure out what it was about me that was beautiful and different than worldly women’s beauty. I laugh inside because I know unconverted souls cannot discern that which is of God. it’s the beauty of the Lord that will always cause a godly women to stand out from the crowd

Loving the hats. What bothers me is that our family (two girls and a son) and my husband followed a family into church. There was a young girl with her family walking into the service. Her dress was so short and was going in with her dad on one side and mom on the other. I was embarrassed for her, and concerned with my husband and son, seeing the girl on display. I hate to say, I spent a lot of time, trying to get attention for my physical attributes. I lost my dad when I was young and craved the wrong kind of attention.
I'm one of the weird guys who finds modesty appealing. I might look, because I'm a man and I like the female body. But when it comes to what I want, I have always gone for conservatively dressed, modest women. As the old folks used to say: "Leave something to the imagination. "
I would agree that things in our churches have gotten out of hand, however we must remember that every person’s journey is their own and as such we should have standards and perhaps even a dress code, but not beat ppl up about their clothing choices. We should lovingly communicate the standards. On the other hand I wish we could get to the place where the focus is evenly discussed. It seems when it comes to attire, women are targeted most often. Anatomically, women’s bodies are just naturally curvier and more appealing. I will NOT apologize or hide the way God created me. He knew what He was doing and I’m fearfully and wonderfully made. I’d love to see a time when men/boys were taught to control the desires or manage them better. We seem to give men a pass and just write it off as that’s just men, but they could be more disciplined. Let’s stop making women responsible for a man’s thoughts or actions! Sure, I have a responsibility to not purposely entice but that’s where it ends. Let’s be honest, even Muslim women who wear the full covering are still targeted, raped and objectified which tells me it’s a male self control issue. Personal accountability for every person is what is needed.
I definitely agree with personal accountability. We know how men are, and sometimes it doesn't matter what we wear- they'll drool anyway. However, women know when they're doing the most and think it's OK, in and out of the church. When mothers dress semi-provocatively, their daughters will. Parents are trying hard to keep up with a culture damaging their kids. What I saw yesterday disgusted me. Leggings should be worn with long shirts to cover our backsides. And because parents don't protect their daughters, I saw too many teen girls with super thin leggings that showed the shape of everything God gave them! One dad dropped his daughter off (who had on leggings), got out of the car, and stood in the street staring at another girl with tights that showed her behind. I mean very obvious and disrespectful. He just stood there, lusting for a teen girl. This is why God calls us to dress respectfully and raise our daughters, and instruct young women to be right... which most cannot do because of their ideologies and desires.

God's word say so..God can't lie..and Women know this too..That's why Beauty Shops Exist..Women go there to get regular beautification from head to toe....I have had a Guy friend of mine ask me to Post Body Photos of Myself on Facebook...Photos that display some sexy.. that will show off my curvy figure. I don't Post Body Photos online of Myself.....(Flashing My Goods for the whole world to see)....My body is for God/Jesus and my Husband..I have had a Few Guys follow me inside the church..The Mini Skirts I was wearing was bringing Single Men to the Church..Never got nasty looks from other Church Women...Some Woman may by happy and praisT the Lord..Cause her Future Hubby has arrived..He may not the My future hubby but he may have Wifed up another Woman in that Church...(There is a proper way to wear a Mini skirt by the way...With Same Color Tights as the Skirt..The Woman is still covered.) With Women After a while we notice how it's nice to Dress both Stylish, Classy and Modest..Classy can be Attractive..and Classy looks like one put forth very little effort...spent a whole lot less Money...There used to be a time when Churches had Fellowship Activities and Events...Church Socials... to help People meet up socialize with other equally yoked People. Some may have met their husband or Wife that way..

Here is the thing, when you're single the way you dress yourself shows how much you respect yourself. Then when you are married the way you dress yourself shows how much you respect YOUR HUSBAND. Why be sexy at all? Why sexy has to be the mindset in the first place? If you are serving God you are serving God. It's not about sexy. God don't want a woman to look sexy, whether in a Suttle way or not. God wants women and men to look holy. Sexy is how the devil wants you to look. It's about "sex". The key word. That's not what God wants you to project. So thow away the whole sexy talk all together and try to look modest and holy.
The devil always try to twist and pervert things, just like he did when he told eve "you will not surely die". Same thing he uses on Christian women. When they were in the world he tells them to dress sexy and project them selves in a sexual manner. But when they decide to give their lives to the lord he still tries to deceive them by telling them its still OK to look a bit sexy as long as it's Suttle or concealed sexy. Sexy is sexy. Still the same thing being projected. "Sex". The whole looking sexy mindset need to go when serving God.
I think our society puts sex in our faces too much and doesn't treat it respectfully. That is why the church body gets uncomfortable about the topic because we our hyper aware of the perversions, however we should remember that sex isn't bad it's sex in the wrong context that is bad. Married people and single ones are sexual beings but it is a very small part of what makes up a human being at least one that has the mind of Christ. We should put all things in their proper context even in our private thoughts.
One thing I will never understand is how a woman can dance , shout and be so into church but nothing convicts them to obey God's Word and dress modest. And these days it seems like the older ones are worse than the younger ones trying to advertise themselves in public and in church to get attention and feel some type of acceptance.

I walk to church, so I dress more on the casual side of the spectrum, mostly out of comfort and necessity. When I show up, it's usually in a nice shirt and pair of jeans. My rule of thumb is if I wouldn't wear it to work, I definitely shouldn't wear it to church.

I agree. Back in 1996, when the world was a little more modest (not much, but alittle) our new Assist Pastors wife walked in with fishnet stockings. I was surprised & uncomfortable. Dresses are so tight against their body that it's ridiculous, the nails so long, the lashes, the makeup, the hair when you look at those who attend the Stellar Awards, they look no different than those at the BET Awards. Many times these women are as old as my grandmother that are dressing this way. What happened to Christian modesty? Aren't we supposed to separate ourselves from the world?

We have to be careful to not send the message that the female form is sinful. Be careful not to constantly send the message that the female body is first and foremost a object of sexual desire. The female form is just that the intended female form designed by God. So please be careful not to send the message to young girls that as soon as they start “developing” that they now need to think of their female form is now primarily sexual and will cause males to sin so cover up their developing female form. Just please be careful to let them know their body (breast, hips, etc) is divine, good, and wonderfully made. Please remember young girls are first thinking of their form in terms of self-esteem and not what their male counterparts think of their bodies. It would be wise to start the discussion concerning the female form from a divine design perspective than emphasizing so much on what men or boys are going to think of the female body which is usually sexual. Females don’t first come to know and see our breast and hips etc as sexual but rather more simply our bodies that we are learning to accept and love. So…therefore we need to keep that in mind when starting the discussion on modesty. How can we honor God with our divine female form in what we wear? It places the focus on holy rather than helping men not sin. Very different narrative and focus. Further modesty isn’t just about appropriate in terms of sexiness or exposure. It is about excessive adornment - costly, flashy, peacocking in general.

I might be off the topic, but I see both sides of the coin.
Loose clothing easily hides obesity or weight gain. When I wore clothes that exposed my weight/contour, I quickly saw my weight and pushed back from the table.
When I became comfortable in my muumuu, I let myself go; my weight was out of control. I developed various struggles mentally and physically. In truth, insecurity developed with my weight gain. Internally, my envy and jealousy started attacking women who maintained decent weight sizes. I became the obese mother who attacked me.
In our YWCC meeting, Mother Smith was firm but reasonable regarding women’s attire. She said, “When you’re shapely, clothing can’t conceal it, but we’re here to show you, ladies, how to sanctify it and still be attractive.” She taught us the importance of where to taper our garment to avoid being a distraction.

I wear hats regularly and I'm under 60. I wore them every Sunday before COVID and church shutdowns. I still wear dresses to church and in the sanctuary especially. I wear pantyhose. I dress modestly for work and other places as well. I don't judge anyone who doesn't but that is how I feel. My physical appearance need to be appropriately presented in the Temple.
And yes I believe the inside has to be dressed up and presented honorably before the Lord as well.

The praise team leader jumps up and down, body parts bouncing all around, tight clothes, etc. The praise team should wear robes. It’s embarrassing… as a female, to keep from being distracted, I look at my phone until the show is over…

I'm a Christian woman. On the first Sunday for communion at my church we wear white or purple. The white dress I had showed a little bit too much at the top, so I decided to not only cover my chest I completely cover my head and put the scarf completely around my chest and it made me look like a Muslim woman. Everyone in the church looked at me like I was crazy. I wasn't trying to look like a Muslim woman I was trying to be modest. I wonder if they would have preferred if my breast were protruding out. Sometimes you can't win for losing. I am very conscious about what I wear to church now so if that means completely covering up my head along with my chest I think it's okay. What do you think about a Christian woman covering her head?
Well done to you, you were doing the right thing! It’s true if you cover your head and dress modestly some Christian women think you are weird. It’s because so many of us don’t have that kind of self awareness and “shame facedness” I have noticed that a lot of decent modest dresses are deliberately frumpy in some cases or will have a unnecessary huge split lol. If we lead by good example according to the scriptures it will help. Also some of us need to take responsibility and stop blaming the men for looking- many of us know what we are doing.

The choir robes had me laughing because I grew up COGIC. When a women came to church with something that was deemed inappropriate, a church mother would give her a robe to wear or a sheet! Ehh Regency women weren't exactly shapeless. It was cut to emphasize the cleavage. If you were busty, it's pretty easy to catch the attention of a man in Regency wear. Every era has their own versions of sexy dress. We may think it's conservative, but the people in those time periods certainly didn't.

Modesty is dead in most churches today, but I think the 70’s and 80’s churches based on what my parents tell me, we’re tooooo conservative. Green dress in your thumbnail is on the border. The ladies today want you to see their figure just like every other woman… not all, but a lot.

I am trying and I do try to dress modestly all I’m saying is sometimes you get it and put it on and then when you leave the house it doesn’t wear like you thought it would and then you’re like “oh wait I don’t think this was a very good option” Especially if your chasing a toddler like I do.
I share similar issues because of my frame and shape. What I find helpful is to find clothes that fit the biggest part of me-usually my shoulders and bust then tailor as needed to get the look I want. If the concern is modesty, that may be an option for you. I've shopped in the maternity section, menswear, thrift stores. Whatever works. The sky really is the limit when it comes to modest wear. Very good topic.. and I be talking to my wife about this very topic...I'm a 45 year old black man... and I know this has been way out of hand for many years...in our black churches...... being that I'm a truck driver and I have been to many different areas of the country... and I must say that our lighter skin sisters in the average churches.. take dressing appropriately very seriously...... they dress accordingly EVERYDAY.. and that's how it supposed to be.... even in other religions the women dress appropriately.......... back in the days the women in church would try to out due each other with the hats...... but in the late 90s the younger women took over and it's all about the bodies and trying to take that woman's husband in the church........I'm from Memphis TN and I know all about it..

I’ve experienced that a few men couldn’t figure out what it was about me that was beautiful and different than worldly women’s beauty. I laugh inside because I know unconverted souls cannot discern that which is of God. it’s the beauty of the Lord that will always cause a godly women to stand out from the crowd

men need to dress modestly too. no shorts or arms out. I shouldn't see your underarms or chest shape. Definitely not skinny jeans or ripped jeans.
Loving the hats. What bothers me is that our family (two girls and a son) and my husband followed a family into church. There was a young girl with her family walking into the service. Her dress was so short and was going in with her dad on one side and mom on the other. I was embarrassed for her, and concerned with my husband and son, seeing the girl on display.
I hate to say, I spent a lot of time, trying to get attention for my physical attributes. I lost my dad when I was young and craved the wrong kind of attention.
I'm one of the weird guys who finds modesty appealing. I might look, because I'm a man and I like the female body. But when it comes to what I want, I have always gone for conservatively dressed, modest women. As the old folks used to say: "Leave something to the imagination. "

I would agree that things in our churches have gotten out of hand, however we must remember that every person’s journey is their own and as such we should have standards and perhaps even a dress code, but not beat ppl up about their clothing choices. We should lovingly communicate the standards. On the other hand I wish we could get to the place where the focus is evenly discussed. It seems when it comes to attire, women are targeted most often. Anatomically, women’s bodies are just naturally curvier and more appealing. I will NOT apologize or hide the way God created me. He knew what He was doing and I’m fearfully and wonderfully made. I’d love to see a time when men/boys were taught to control the desires or manage them better. We seem to give men a pass and just write it off as that’s just men, but they could be more disciplined. Let’s stop making women responsible for a man’s thoughts or actions! Sure, I have a responsibility to not purposely entice but that’s where it ends. Let’s be honest, even Muslim women who wear the full covering are still targeted, raped and objectified which tells me it’s a male self control issue. Personal accountability for every person is what is needed.
I definitely agree with personal accountability. We know how men are, and sometimes it doesn't matter what we wear- they'll drool anyway. However, women know when they're doing the most and think it's OK, in and out of the church. When mothers dress semi-provocatively, their daughters will. Parents are trying hard to keep up with a culture damaging their kids.
What I saw yesterday disgusted me.
Leggings should be worn with long shirts to cover our backsides. And because parents don't protect their daughters, I saw too many teen girls with super thin leggings that showed the shape of everything God gave them! One dad dropped his daughter off (who had on leggings), got out of the car, and stood in the street staring at another girl with tights that showed her behind. I mean very obvious and disrespectful. He just stood there, lusting for a teen girl. This is why God calls us to dress respectfully and raise our daughters, and instruct young women to be right... which most cannot do because of their ideologies and desires.
