Having negotiated myself and having helped lots of other people negotiate as well, I would endorse everything that's in this video.

Very interesting video! I personally know one case of spousal hire in the humanities for an assistant level position (both hired when they were still ABD). I wasn't even aware of housing assistance programs, thank you for bringing that up

Thank you for this! Something that might be helpful to know more about is how to delicately deal with multi-offer situations, or when you have one offer but are waiting to hear from other schools where you've done visits.

I love this idea thank you. Yes maintaining one’s ethics and dealing with multiple offers is a major challenge. But I do think there is a way. If there is interest I would be happy to make a video about this. Thank you for watching!

This is very much the kind of problem you want to have!
But seriously, in my opinion this is a case of "don't hate the player, hate the game" - with the academic job market being what it is, it would be ridiculous to turn down one firm offer on the off chance that you might be offered another (assuming that, if you applied for both positions, you'd be happy with either even if you had a preference for one).
So, I'd say yes to the existing offer, and if the stars align and you also end up getting offered your dream job, you'll just have to tell the first university exactly that - you really appreciate their offer and are sorry not to be able to work with all of those amazing colleagues, but another opportunity came along that was really too good to pass up. There are 3-7 other excellent candidates on the shortlist for them to choose.

I should say, this was exactly my situation post-PhD - I was shortlisted for two positions, had a firm offer from one, and was waiting to hear from the other, a very prestigious university. In the end, I didn't get the second position, so I was glad I said yes to the first!

I've seen an assistant prof TT job hire negotiate a spousal job! It is possible!
