As a bumblebug, I feel the nails on the chalk board at the very though lol. Sometimes I have no choice but to put seemingly unrelated things together. I painfully tolerate the arrangement until I have the time or solution for re-organising, or until I just can't take i it anymore...whichever comes first lol

I'm Ladybug/Cricket combo. To me, when you can see all the stuff it looks so messy and feels like clutter which puts me on edge.
Yes! I thought I was a Butterfly but when she put all the stuff on those wire containers I thought it still looked messy. A Ladybug/ Cricket is more organized and soothing to the brain for me.

For me it'd the opposite I can see everything it'd like.hiding dirt . I'm not saying it is dirty but seeing what you have so you don't buy doubles or what not makes it look clean to me

Oh my goodness, Cass! I cannot tell you how helpful this video is, but in a different way than you might think. My husband suffered a brain injury from a car accident six years ago. He has healed, but there are changes. I have been struggling to help with organizing things for him to find them. This video was what he needed to process how he needs to understand and comprehend how to find what he is looking for. Thank you! It is a place to start.

My TBI occurred in 2002. Over time other areas of your brain can & will take on duties not originally ascribed to the region/territory. I'm constantly amazed that memories of events I couldn't recall, have slowly inched back into consciousness.
My neurologist was a quack & put me on meds, he thought, might help. (Then maxed out the dose) I complained that I wasn't myself & he argued that maybe I'm just different now. Don't listen to anyone who isn't interested in what's beneficial to you or your well-being. I was alone & no one to say, "hey that's not good".
I lost 15 years of healing. But for the first time since '04/'05 I'm making progress. I've purchased the same item 3 times in one week, because I couldn't find it or didn't cross it off my to do list.
I was a professional organizer & helped others, before the TBI. I live like a hoarder now. But recently I noticed some stacks are smaller & lost items are beginning to surface again. God Bless you all.
Next month is my FORTY YEAR anniversary of TBI (CHI). It does get better. But on the other hand, it does not go away. Compensation is the key. Draw on your and your husband's strengths, to come up with adaptations for the deficits. I'm a Bee, but too much micro organizing can be paralyzing. Labels are good no matter what "bug" you are. Good luck!!!

Bee here and that's basically exactly how I would organize the closet. The only thing I would change is I would opt for clear drawers rather than stacked bins. If I wanted in the bottom bin I'd have to move the top one; but with drawers you have easy access to top and bottom without moving anything.
Yes or I would keep lids off. Stacked with lids okay for extra or seldom used, but not frequently used.
Right! Clear shoe drawers work well for me!!!
YES! I love drawers or easy to reach in bins rather than stacked containers. I've realized that doesn't work as well for me; it's too many steps and not very practical.
@@joycegreer9391 Totally - my husband is a bee and I was watching this thinking there was no way he would be working with those lids. Lids are only okay when two bins must stack, and in that case put something rarely used in the bin underneath and have the top bin without a lid. I did the clutterbug quiz on him last night and it has revolutionised my thinking about organising our home and keeping it tidy

I am learning so much from your DETAILED EXPLANATIONS instead of " go throw all your clothes on the bed" and sniff each item to see if it " brings you joy." After watching a Marie Condo video that this girl did and it took her 4 days to get the clothes off her bed🤯 I needed a glass of whiskey and a chocolate cake to calm my nerves down!🤯🤯😭😢
That's why I was so surprised to hear in another of her videos that the individual decluttering projects don't take the people as long as they thought. These explanations are really helpful and time-saving.

Having all 4 of these images side by side allowed me to ask my husband to pick the one that he likes and would use and I learned that he doesn't like visual clutter, but needs large bins to toss items into (and hide). I've been trying to get him to take the quiz for weeks and he wouldn't so your side by side comparison images are a big help!

I was struggling with trying to figure out my own "bug" (I am notorious for waffling on my answers to any similar quiz, which increases confusion), but another video Cas did showing one closet 4 ways really made it obvious for me which is my preferred style. It was less obvious to me on this video, but mostly I think it was because I don't like those wire baskets she used for the butterfly ... too much chance for things to fall out!
These are my favorite type of videos - the visual 'how to' comparing all four organizing styles.
I needed this video! For the longest time I thought I was a butterfly, but watching this made me realize that I think I’m half lady bug and half bee. I prefer macro categories and putting “backups” in matching containers, but can get micro when there is too much in any category like makeup. I’ve also noticed that like a bee, I need my everyday things to be readily accessible otherwise I forget to put on moisturizer or deodorant!

Lol, but then she put a bottle of what looked like body wash in with the other ones that looked like hand soap and I was like NOOOOO!!! Body wash is not soap! (Unless there's a global pandemic and you're desperate because your stores are picked over and you can't find hand soap anywhere...)

If the bottles are unopened, laying them down is fine; once they are opened, never!
I have had these kinds of shelves in the last 2 houses I've lived in. The 1st was a resale and the shelves were sticky with dust. After I finally got them clean, I measured the shelves, cut $ store posterboard , then covered with their brand of contactpaper. Now the shelves looked attractive and baskets slid easily out and back. Best thing ever for these wire shelves.
Love that idea! I am more your style, not into the wire shelves or open space between rungs, but I love a nice smooth surface! Those $ tree poster boards are awesome. What a great idea! Would make a great video as so many houses have that style standard shelving.
Ah, I just bought a closet organizer with that kind of shelving, and this idea will really help me out!

You put everything in for the first too and my nerves were going crazy. You started the cricket and it was like my whole body went fluff and calm. So soothing.
So useful to see the four different options. Really made the different clutterbug categories make sense to me. There are some things that I am OK doing "butterfly style" or even "ladybug style" (for things I want hidden) and I like some of the ideas for the "cricket" (but was frustrated about not being able to see the categories more easily.
My reactions to your sample systems shown in this video confirmed without a doubt that for my personal areas, I tend toward "bee" (and that my husband tends toward "butterfly") - which explains a lot.
Since, I began allowing myself to use butterfly categories for the main house, I've been more successful at keeping both the common areas and my personal areas organized. For the common areas, it's been simpler with fewer categories (and "done is better than perfect") and that left me more time to focus my "bee" energy only on the areas that really require that level of detail.

Before clutterbug I spent most of my life trying to live in a house with everything in weaved baskets/ wooden boxes but in reality I was a bee. So much happier.

The butterfly organization gave me so much anxiety, lol. I think I am a combo Ladybug/bee. I mostly want things hidden and in big containers. As long as it is contained somehow and not out in the open for all to see, then I'm good. However, other everyday items can be in smaller transparent containers ( i.e. dental, makeup and skin care).
Bees want things visible. I think you mean ladybug / cricket.

I love this video- so practical. I'm a butterfly with a think some bee tendencies because I loved both the butterfly and bee options. I think too many wire baskets for me was too much so having some clear bins felt a bit calmer.
Looking at those wire baskets, I keep thinking that things will be sliding out of them. I have some plastic baskets that are always losing things like pens or nail files that just find a hole in the basket and leave! I'd much rather have clear bins, including some with lower sides ... at least 3" high, I think ... so I am sure that stuff put in will stay in the container.
I am blown away reading these comments. As a hard-core ladybug, I can’t imagine liking any of the other styles. But reading the comments from other people, I realize they feel the same way about their organizing style as I do. It’s amazing how different we all are. Thank you for such a great video.

I’m really stuck between ladybug and cricket and I’m not sure which one I might be. I like how easy ladybug is to use. No lids and very functional. But I get BAD anxiety seeing that lazy Susan.

I am very visual and forget things that I don’t see, and I definitely like breaking things into categories, but I like how the ladybug and cricket look visually too. It’s less overwhelming and more beautiful and organized looking. So basically I wish I was a cricket! Lol!
Looking at ladybug and cricket, I don't see much difference. The medications and a couple of things being taller than the containers are really the only thing that looks different. Unless you're actually looking into the containers, you wouldn't notice a difference. I've taken the test multiple times over the past couple of years, and I keep getting cricket; however, ladybug organization wouldn't bother me in some places of my home.

This was quite a lot of work to re-do the space in each style, so thanks for going to the effort. I just need to let you know that I started following you probably 18 months ago or so, and discovering that I was a "Butterfly" has been absolutely life-changing. I finally understood why my efforts to organise always ended up with my stuff literally spread all over every surface of my house - the floor, bench, tables, side tables, everything, which meant I could not invite friends around unless I did a massive preparatory clean-up, and in the weeks afterwards everything would slowly find its way out again! I had bought storage things and furniture over the years that would suit a Ladybug or a Cricket, and my pantry just failed me, as only the things I could see ever got used. I now have a really functional food storage arrangement, very simple but I can see my things and I absolutely know what I have. It has helped so much over this year especially in managing food supplies during lockdown. Having a clear kitchen bench now has allowed my husband to take up some hobby cooking while we've been at home so much this year, and has given him loads of enjoyment (not to mention delicious meals!) On a whim, we invited friends over for dinner this past weekend for the first time in forever, and it was so wonderful. Our house and its storage just worked so well I could have cried from happiness seeing all the children racing around enjoying the little spaces and zones that I have slowly, bit by butterfly bit, not only created but maintained for a considerable time now. I still have some rooms to go, but they are away from the main living areas, and I will get through them, too. But I just want you to know that it was only discovering the Butterfly thing about me that unlocked it all and made it possible for me to finally start getting our house together, and it has brought so much happiness already. I will always remember and treasure these organising lessons from you, and thank you so very much. You're a superstar!

I know this video is older but it caught my eye in the recommended. I just wanted to say it is so nice that you added the bit about your in-laws at the end. My in-laws are also wonderful people and we lived in their home off and on when we were first married. We enjoy spending time with them. It's such a blessing to have a close family.
I love being able to see everything, open the pantry door and see quickly what I need to get at the grocery store. I also love being able to 'one hand' things that I am looking for when I have my hands full. Everything in it's place is such a stress relief. It's like a 'chill pill'. Thanks for your suggestions, they really make sense to me!

Wow, seeing the Bee cupboard was calming to me. I loved my in-laws and my sister-in-law's Mom. I loved their advice and their welcoming ways.
My favorite is the cricket. I am a cricket/bee. Sometimes I like things hidden, but I can also be a visual person with others. It really depends on the space and items but for a closet space like that it's all cricket!

It's amazing how finding out your organizing style, can help you get organized! I took the on-line quiz and found out I'm a butterfly, and it has made a huge difference in my life. I used to literally get a sick feeling in my stomach, if I had to sort into too many small categories, but using the butterfly model,I 've been able to get my 2 craft areas combined into one room and it's organized, I can find things and it's so beautiful! Thanks so much for helping me find myself!

I LOVE this - and yes, I am a cricket and this reinforces that. I already have my individual categories broken down by adults meds, pain, first aid, cough drops ... you get the picture. I also have zip loc bags inside of my bin of medications for "Allergy" and "Day time" and ... again, you get the picture. I also love your Real and humorous videos at the end ! Thanks for sharing you, and your in-laws, with me.
I love looking at the side by side comparison of each style. I know it takes work but we need more! I especially would love to have some examples oriented for kids and teen. I would love to show these to my kids to get an understanding of what style they prefer.
Yes! I try to help my son organize his toys and it's not easy. I think he's a butterfly but always looking for ideas for kid organization. Maybe then he won't need to clean up his room EVERY day 🤣🤣🤣 (not likely)

This is amazing!! I am new to all of this, but it has been a huge lightbulb in my organizing fails. I’m a ladybug with a house of organizing containers with tubs!!! No wonder it hasn’t been working! I just learned this the other day, and now seeing these shelves side by side really shows me what I love. Even before I realized which column was ladybug, I was drawn to that set of shelves!

Okay, this is hilarious. As soon as you moved onto the ladybug organizational method, I laughed out loud because I legit bought those very baskets at dollarama to organize my cupboards. You’re so spot on. Love this.💕
I think it sometimes depends on the space and the stuff. Some of those "bee" containers with the lids off would have been great for a butterfly. Those wire baskets were just asking for stuff to fall out. I'm almost definitely a bee, but in certain spaces I can't have everything out (kitchen and bathroom come to mind). Plus, I have cats and hate dusting so sometimes I go for a minimal look for just that reason.

Cass I laughed out loud when you stacked up those protein powders and the stack fell over when your back was turned. Definitely needed that laugh.

I have watched your organizing videos so often, but could never really pinpoint which I actually was. The picture with all four in one shot side by side was so helpful!! I now know for sure I am NOT a bee or butterfly because I don't like seeing all my junk. It clutters my mind. I am definitely somewhere between a cricket and ladybug. I'm a cricket, so the micro organizing inside the macro bins is right up my alley. But let's be honest, I think we would all choose the ladybug bins. The clean simplicity of all those white bins is so much easier on the eyes. 😍
I like the simplicity outside, but not if I know that there's chaos inside. One big comforter in each bin? Or some folded sheets? Awesome. A pile of toiletries in each bin? Alarm bells in my head...
I agree, the white bins are so pretty! Our daughter on the other hand, doesn't care if anything matches or is stored together. She is so funny, but a sweetie pie for sure! Love that I found someone that makes organizing work for everyone! Loved loved loved your tv spots!
I have discovered through a couple of days of watching these videos, that I'm a butterfly. And having all of those white bins lined up and seeing nothing, would drive me batty!

I think I like butterfly/bee the most, it does give you more of a cluttered feeling BUT if it's hidden away inside a cupboard that's okay (which I learned makes me a cricket). Why I prefer these is because they give me a view. Often you forget what you can't see and then you find it later and realize it's expired or you accidentally bought another one. So in a sense, even if it feels cluttered, the idea is it is going to lead to less clutter by having control.
Lol! I've always thought I was a cricket but also leaned towards a ladybug for some things. When I saw that grey box with the dividers, I think my eyes lit up! 😂 I AM a cricket! 💚

Hi! I discovered you two weeks ago-and I’m still trying to discover whether I’m a ladybug 🐞 or a butterfly 🦋! It stresses me out when I don’t know where something is and I like being able to open a cabinet and see everything, but I also value visual simplicity. I’ll keep trying! I did watch your video about the butterfly and got really happy and emotional! I’ve actually been on a minimalist journey recently so maybe that will match the Butterfly organizational need with visual simplicity.

You're In-Laws sound amazing! I can relate. My In-Laws were awesome! Although hearing you talk about yours brought tears to my eyes. This year is 5 years since they both passed, both in 2015 and my husband (their only child) the following year exactly to day his father passed. I am now living in their home. I miss them all.
I am so sorry for your loss. I'm sure you do miss them all, all the time. It must be somewhat comforting to be in their home where you can feel them close to you.

@@jayalexander6798 Gosh how do I pick one. First of all she makes sure her kids tend to their families before they do anything for her. She always asks to make sure She is not taking too much time away from our households. She is a God fearing woman who treats us Daughter-in-laws just as she does her own daughter. We enjoy alot of the same things. We camp together, play games (mostly dominos).

I took your quiz and I'm a butterfly (I think I also have bee tendencies). The butterfly storage, being able to see everything is so calming and joyful to me, I know I can find what I need and not forget about it, I love seeing all the colors, yet it's arranged in an organized way. The bee storage is also calming to me. It's so interesting how everyone's organization styles are different, and what makes us feel good!
My in-laws are so amazing and they're moving into my town this Saturday JUST to be close to us! So sweet! I'm very blessed!

So this has really helped me to finally pin down which bug I am, because I definitely got varying degrees of excited for those final reveals - and apparently I am SUCH a bee!! 😆 I want everything to have its own little nook and NOT have to put lotion with soap, but I also need to be able to get to it immediately and if I don't see it, I just forget it exists lololol I've never seen anything so attractive as those uniform, regular, but clear bins! 🥰🐝 (Although I'm definitely not a pure type, if such a thing even exists, because there certainly are places and situations when I go 🐞)

I happen to be married twice. Both times I've been so blessed . Sadly my father in law from my current marriage passed this June...my heart aches till this day as he was more of a father to me than an in law. My father passed when I was 14 years old, I met my father in law 10 years later and I swear he fulfilled every role a father could play , especially grandpa. I miss him dearly.
