    This really makes me want to custom build a car from scratch. So much thought has gone into the car and I especially enjoy the interior work

    id be very interested to know the final weight on all four corners of the 45/80 once the build is complete. this is an amazing build series and i couldnt recommend this enough. absolutley next level. makes me want to crack on with my projects.

      Thanks mate, I can't wait to put it on as well - I reckon it will be around 2200kgs semi wet (ie second tank and water tank not full). Would love to do some CoG comparisons to other vehicles.

    Great build mate - wire before pull down in case you need to drill holes in fresh paint work , but touch up paint could sort it worse case

    For not being a professional I'm very impressed with the way your building project you have given me some little ideas for my new project... l reckon your build is better than that HJ49 I like it but not impressed the young lad is surrounded by professional's.. like you I'm a back yarder on a very tight budget I'm not a expert or professional but I believe some of the best car's and 4x4s are done in back yards with little or no help.. keep up the good work can't wait to see it on the road

      I’ve moved house 3 times, 2 different states, 4 jobs, got married, had a child that is now nearly 3years old…….. they haven’t finished a rebuild on one of the smallest production cars 🤣🤣

    Great work Richard. Will complete as a top quality professional build and do like straight sixes.
    My OM606 is in too..into a swb shogun mk2. 400+ bhp which will be a daily as down to 1350kgs...lots of fun to come. No where near your cad/cam finish as did it all by hand..and lots of ali.

    with the wiring run a mock up trial harness in the position that you would like that way if you need to address any concerns for mounting or hiding or Gromit's your not worried about messing up freshly painted parts or panels

    The pioneer under seat subs don't take up much room and bring real quality bass to music in my Hilux dual cab, I was so impressed I put one in my early old holden aswell. I was going to install two but one is fine. That's if you don't want a huge sub box and sepperate amp I would look at them to finish off quality sound.

      @@DesignedandBuilt also if your plumbing the ac when I did my vintage air unit wasn't until I went to a second ac shop for parts they said I should have used flex lines instead of the std ac rubber lines for a easier install.

    Loved the video mate! Got a couple questions since it’s a full custom rig.
    1. How much of the car would have to be engineered by 3rd party and certified and to what extent?
    2. How do you manage to use cad to draw everything up? ( through work or school as I know it’s quite expensive to get autocad.)
    So many great things that you puce thought to do in this video! Love your content and keep at it! Don’t know how u manage to get time to do a whole car.

      Hey Luke, everything has to be signed off on. Has to be road legal. I’ve been working with an engineer the whole time to make sure it will pass. Yeah the CAD software isn’t cheap, you can get student version access if you are part of certain clubs. Thanks mate: eat, sleep, project car, repeat :)

    Awesome work mate. Good luck with the red arc gauges. Awesome bit of kit with the 3in1 but so bloody bright at night you’ll legit need sunnies. I ended up selling mine as too bright.

    Richard - check the forward facing aerial bracket re inspection/licensing. Normally they are welded to the rearside of roobars so no sharp protrusion with regard to pedestrian impact. Keen to see the 45/80 running and driving.

      Cheers Andy! I'm with you, don't love the look but just nowhere good to put it. Going to be a pain when I build a canopy as I'll have to provision for a vent path as well. I just don't think underbody is a good option and the condenser setup at the front is stacked. Roof? haha

    Such a professional build only thought check output of redarc 50 amp I had trouble needs at least 200amp or over powers battery

    liked the clean back setup but at the end of the day roll hoop is gonna be covered by the canopy so should look fine anyway just a thought make sure the noise from the thermo fan isnt gonna be in the passengers ear for a 6 hour touring drive :)

    Hey mate great! work in regards to the wiring draw it out if you need to just so you know where to mount all of your circuit protection and even little loops that you can zip tie cables to should be welded in before you go to body. And when that battery is wired up make sure they use both Anderson ports and common the grounds out of them because those plugs are only rated for 50 A each so you will be maxing them out with that charger going in, and that battery is rated to 100 max out depending on your loads. Also those brass monkey centre consoles are very poorly insulated so make sure you add heaps of extra thermal installation underneath it and also that it has a cold airflow going through the fan on the front because if it picks up heat it will run really excessively and can be quite a power hog.

    Hey Richard, with the spare gauge hole in the dash, what about transmission temp gauge or EGT or boost or are they done through the Haltach. Do you think the second battery and redarc could do with some very thin rubber between them and the cab to help with vibrations on corrugated roads. Great vid Richard you've been working hard mate well done.

      Cheers Rob. It’s all supposed to run through the Haltech, but an external EGT or lambda could be a good edition, a little bit of rubber will be mint as well! I’ll do it on final assembly.

    Richard I have found that it is easier to do wiring before strip down because less chance of doing damage to new paint work

    Just curious why the two batteries? Is the lithium battery capable of starting the engine? Great job!

      Hey Michael. Just for accessories! Most of them will be in a canopy which in still yet to build. But plan on having stuff like camp lights/fridge wired to the lithium. This particular lithium can’t be cranked off, but there are some out there that can.

    Wow you got a lot done in this one. It's always the little jobs that take way longer than you think.
    How did you go with the handbrake? Really keen to see what you do. My build is going to the engineer in 2 weeks and the handbrake is my biggest concern.

      Curious to see how you go with it, let me know! I'm going to swap to a 4.8 rear housing, a friend has one with 80 series mounts on it, a real get out of jail free card for me.

      I would also be interested to know if you could put the hub into a standard gu diff housing to be able to use the handbrake setup. And if the brake calipers are the same.
      Essentially if possible what are the parts you would need to convert the standard gu set-up to use the handbrake

      I actually called up a wreckers and asked that same question, apparently the bolt pattern is different but I don’t trust the wrecker. I would like to see with my own eyes. I’ll make sure I film it when I do the swap.

      I've definitely got some unique additions that are going on the back of this build! I feel like there is going to be a lot of modifying and improving stuff on this build before I start another full build. I'll drive the shit out of this thing and will be uploading some of it up on here!

      I would engage with your engineer. Mine are overbuilt to VSB 14 so shouldn't be an issue. Sure makes everything easy to mount off!
