The devs seem to have forgotten that part of Minecraft's soul came from unintended features, ala a buggy pig model eventually becoming what we know as the creeper. I hope they learn from this and stop assuming everything unplanned for must be inherently "wrong".
If the creeper wasn’t such a big part of the Minecraft culture, they would have removed it a long time ago.

Mojang: we have decided to make the blocks more inline with other redstone components.
Also Mojang: pretends quasi-connectivity doesn't exist
Why is the tick rate thing even a thing?
@@robuxyyyyyyyyyy4708 Because that's how the game is simply running. Otherwise you'd have to bind the game speed to the framerate at this point and do you really wanna bind redstone to the framerate?
So
you want them to remove QC?
As you wish.
@@robuxyyyyyyyyyy4708I'm not familiar with the Minecraft codebase but I believe it is designed that way because the alternative is it runs on individual frames. This could mean that redstone would cause inconsistencies in the event the game lags. I imagine this also helps when connecting 2 players with different frame rates.
Considering Mojang removed QC in the main version of the game, yeah I'd say that's accurate.
mojang seems to consistently listen to a single player that has the absolute worst suggestions (toxic fireflies, for example) which leave the other 99.9% of players scratching their heads, wondering why they listened to that one suggestion or bug report
Man, the firefly situation has really pissed me off... I live in a tropical country in the southern hemisphere, my house is near lakes with frogs and it's not uncommon to see them eating fireflies. The poisonous ones are the ones that produce a high concentration of lucibufagin, which is more common in countries in the northern hemisphere.
It's so infuriating to see how one-sided their reason was in removing the fireflies.
mojang's a lost cause at this point, they keep ruining good features for the sake of consistency or enviromentalism, a side from the fireflies remember why they said they don't add hostile mobs that resemble real life animals, or why sharks weren't added, or even why you can't ride dolphins, so many examples of mojang not listening to the larger player base that just wants fun gameplay features
@@GalacticSpike it's not about that; it's about how b-ass-ackwards their reasoning is. if they did more research, they would've just made frogs avoid eating fireflies.
@@LOL-gn5ohit has come to our attention some fireflies are poisonous to frogs, so instead of just ignoring it (note: you can kill parrots with cookies) or making them just be ambiance and not eaten by frogs, we are removing them. Don’t worry, frogs won’t go hungry. Now they can eat slime and literal magma.
I think that Mojang is searching for "we helped this one person and they loved it moments" that sometimes endear the whole community (I think there was something with a rabbit variant related to this, and I believe turtles were initially designed by a fan). Moments like those get them a ton of good PR, and I think "Company helps kid teach people about the danger of feeding fireflies to frogs" is what they were going for. Unfortunately, it did not work.
Just double back on them and report the bad changes as a bug. While you’re at it, report all oxidation states of the copper bulb giving the same comparator output as a bug too
People have been trying.
WORKS AS INTENDED.
truth
Report the fact that I can place twisted on stone that's the biggest issue
And report the existence of the glow squid
Mojang never fails to hyper focus on things that don’t need changing while simultaneously ignoring community uproar when it comes to stuff like fireflies or chat reporting or mob votes…
they literally listened about the chat reporting though. They nerfed it to the ground and added lots of limitations to it. Oh, and, it was never going to be automated. They have an entire team dedicated to moderating reports and they do throw out ones that are false reports, as reporting chat messages ALWAYS sends context, and you cannot prevent that - so the team they trained specifically for this feature alone isn't gonna ban anyone willy nilly. I was on the side of the outrage at first but Mojang has clarified so much to the point it's clearly not a problem. They literally listened, get over it.
I don't understand the firefly outrage though. It's two pixels that float around, get over it.
Mob votes are fucked though, and need to stop (that said I like the phantom).

The crafter nerf doesn't bother me, but the copper bulbs definitely need to be reverted
no i like fast
crafters but i agre on the bulbs
Yeah, an autocrafter not needs to be instant. And in fact, the original spead did look like as a very good material for lag machines if you stack up enough of them in the same place.
And for the copper bulb thing: you already have a block that can make timing. It's called "a repeater".
@@tovarishcheleonora8542 Repeaters can't make odd game ticks, while copper buibs can :)
@@tovarishcheleonora8542not 1-tick timings, though. A repeater is either 2, 4, 6 or 8.
@@tovarishcheleonora8542A repeater is not a bulb
The bulb had a 1 game tick delay, while repeaters have 2 game ticks.
The importance of this 1 game tick, is that All redstone components work on multiples of 2, so entering these odd ticks is very important for precise timing.
You have one movable block that did that (bulb), while all other options are not movable or too big. That's the problem.
this is so true, even though i am not a redstoner myself i was really excited for the crafter and how fast it could make items, but now it has unnecacary restrictions that i don't understand why. mojang, i would really love it if you reverted all of these changes
Even with the change from 1 tick to 4 tick, the crafter seems pretty fast still, I understand that having it’s efficiency quartered is annoying, but it’s still automatic crafting is it not?
@@ExeEspe-by2ct yeah lets get rid of a quarter of the blocks too! thats annoying, but its still minecraft, right? make movement speed super slow... but it still there at least!!
@@hefdef9961 good job, you’ve defeated a strawman. But seriously, what is so wrong about the 4 tick speed? Minecraft runs at 20 ticks/second meaning you can craft 5 items/second or 300 items/minute, what about that says useless block to you?
If you’re interested the 1 tick can spit out 1200 items/minute, pretty impressive, but could you imagine any more than two of those running at a time on a server? Thousands of entities being created in seconds? Trust me, the Crafter is gonna be gamebreaking enough as is
@@ExeEspe-by2ct there are enough ways to make lag as is i don't see why adding another is suddenly the devil
@@hefdef9961 it’s not just the lag though? Even with the 4 tick speed you can pump out insane amounts of items with very minimal effort, combine that with some of the automated farms that have been made possible in previous updates and I can guarantee that the crafter is going to irrevocably change Minecraft as we know it almost in spite of the fact that it’s got a prerequisite degree in redstoning before you can use it effectively
If this goes through, I wouldn't be surprised if somebody attempts to make a mod solely to undo the unfavorable changes and encourages a lot of players to use it...
Already happened.
However I'm surprised about the whining about the autocrafter.
It's way to powerfull as it was, and it is yet another recipe wasting a oppurtunity to give the absolutely useless new metal a reason to exist.
My new recipe that reflects it's power:
| C | R | C |
|IB |CB|IB|
|RB| D |RB|
C= Copper Ingot
R= Repeater
IB = Iron Block
CB = Crafting Bench.
RB = Redstone Block.
D = Dropper.
That's far more appropiate for how broken this block is going to be.
And add a setting for speed in ticks for the Autocrafter, default 4. Min 1, max 72000
Next they will make it so copper bulbs are solid blocks and need to be constantly powered to be consistent with red stone lamps
Good idea ill make a bug report kek
Stop giving them ideas
Might as well make all the blocks completely consistent with each other.
@@georgeofhamiltonremove red stone completely for the sake of consistency. Also now all blocks drop dirt and have the dirt texture and just are dirt. Ya know, for consistency.
@@smolwhiteboi486 also who needs a player character, the player is now just staring at a black screen for consistency because blocks can’t see so why should you
If they want to create a delay on copper bulbs, they should add different delay for different stages of copper weathering
this
i could back this one. i'm in the minority of people that was glad to hear they changed the delay, but both is better
@@rubixtheslime Why? I have seen a few people who i can only assume are trolling argue for it, so im curious as to some actual reasons you could prefer the delay to be longer.
@@nintySW this ended up being pretty long, sorry about that. just trying to get my thoughts down.
i prefer the instant behavior, while most people prefer the delay. when i first saw the bulb, i figured it was supposed to be a simple t flip flop first and foremost, without other behavior that could hamper that ability. so when i found out it has a delay, i felt like it kinda ruined it, as that directly means the signal would get misaligned the moment it passes through a bulb. many of the ideas i originally had became simply worse with the delay. to clarify, this is counter to most people's opinions.
main reason i like the instant behavior really just comes down to, it's faster and simpler. and it's not like having it instant is useless for observer tech anyways, we finally have a block that changes state when receiving power but not when losing power, which is something i remember needing multiple times in the past (unless i'm reading things wrong, as i haven't spent the spoons to mess around with the bulbs myself yet). i really like the idea of a bulb being a nice beginner friendly t flip flop, no strings attached. and i'd have to mess around with it first to verify (mainly to confirm it doesn't use a block event or something), but it looks like it could be very helpful for instant comparator logic, which is something i've been working a lot with lately.
in my own experience, i've found that whenever i do need an odd tick delay, scaffolding, leaves, pistons, water, player inputs, etc. have always been enough for me personally, at least to the extent that i don't think the delay is warranted enough when it will inherently impact the bulb's main feature. plus, if we ever get a different block that has a 1gt delay after being powered, that would easily make the delayed bulb worse than an instant one.
i will admit that this video did present something i hadn't actually considered before: bulbs being the only movable odd delay generators other than pistons. but again, if we were to have a block that creates an odd delay when powered, i'd much rather it be separate from the bulb.
there's also the part where, i've seen this exact situation go down so many times before. people say that Mojang is about to "ruin" a feature, without even taking the time to see if other new things are possible with the so-called "ruined" behavior. and with few exceptions, people have always found other amazing new stuff that was only possible with the "ruined" behavior. so i'm a bit opposed to the mindset of taking weeks of work (the stuff found with the delayed bulbs) and comparing it to zero days of work (stuff found with the instant bulbs) and saying "all is lost! Mojang has ruined the feature! clearly this is a terrible change!" before actually giving the new tech a chance, no matter how "obvious" it may seem that one side is better. the mentality of not checking because i think it's obvious is what kept me in a cult for so long. it's that blinding and i don't want to risk it taking away any more joy from my life.
at the end of the day though, i'll be fine either way. these days i try not to invest too much stock into singular new features revolutionizing the game, just enjoy the game, and only ready the pitchforks when it's something i think is truly important to address. (... i say after writing multiple paragraphs about one block getting changed)
im thinking of submitting a false bug report for this since apparently thats the new suggestions page lmao
You're channeling the same frustration I felt when they recently removed the word "whilst" from death messages for no reason at all. Hopefully at least the copper bulb behavior gets reverted
THEY WHAT
Honestly, I just wish they would release something like Copper Wire. Redstone, but it can go on walls or ceilings, with an expanded conductivity for length compared to redstone dust.
I’ve said this but for redstone items that contain gold as well. It could be a cheaper alternative with a slight drawback of oxidizing overtime leading to decreased performance but could be preserved in the same way as other copper blocks.
mods exist
ok.
I had the same idea, except I had the idea that redstone and copper wire could be directly next to each other without connecting to one another, so that copper wires could be used like repeaters, but without delays.
Also came up with its crafting recipe idea:
1 copper ingot can be crafted into 4 copper wires
The only problem with that is why would anyone use redstone dust? Copper is infinitely more abundant and there’s seemingly no drawback to the wire, so all use the dust could’ve had in builds is now replaced entirely and it’s left as just a crafting ingredient
Mojang will do something extraordinary, then wait a week and totally ruin it for no reason whatsoever.
That's why I only care about new mods

Honestly, as Mojang seems to pay so much attention to bug reports (first 'fixing' horse breeding to be super easy thus invalidating ilmango's work) and now the copper bulb, its given me an idea.... why not fight fire with fire?
As the 1GT delay for the copper bulb was clearly 'intentional' behaviour given how it was intelligent game design, the change to make it a 2GT delay was clearly an accidental oversight and therefore must be a bug; so write a bug report how the 2GT delay on Bedrock was clearly a parity issue and both bedrock and Java should have 1GT delay AS INTENDED.
2:
As Mojang have stated, through official channels, multiple times, how Quasi-Connectivity is a feature, not a bug, the lack of Quasi-Connectivity in Bedrock edition must therefore - clearly, be a bug, and should be be corrected for the sake of parity.
EDIT: Have opened a bug report about the lack of QC in Bedrock
How did the bug report go?
@@mini-_ Not well :(
The moderators (not even Mojang!) just referenced a previous similar bug report (since closed) that was essentially "The lack of QC in Bedrock is intentional".
So as other Minecraft content creators have pointed out - it's the technical MC community that has to constantly justify their existence to Mojang.
My opinion - the only LONG-TERM solution to this problem is to delay a major update and spend the time productively creating 100% parity between Bedrock and Java (essentially making them the same game) and only then move forward with new releases, because then you can balance equally across both platforms - not to mention it would enable crossplay.
Aww that's a shame about the bug report, but kinda expected with how Minecraft/Mojang/whoever seems to treat the technical side of Minecraft.
_Exactly._ The initial reception of these 2 blocks was incredible: video after video appeared about how groundbreaking these features were. They *must* have seen them, why undo these positive features??

These things were argued to be features by the redstone community as they were critical in many inventions, especially slime block flying machines.
When this was raised, one of the devs said "If you need a piston to drop a block, just used a glazed_terracotta?" which was immediately meme'd by tons of people in the community.
The backlash lead to some of the devs joining a huge discord call with many prominent technical Minecraft players (most of them SciCraft) explaining how the complex behaviours of pistons are what makes them good and removing these so called "bugs" would ruin this aspect of the game. Mojang devs agreed and decided they were now features.
Here we are now 6 years later and its happening again for the crafter and the copper bulb. Hopefully Mojang will listen once again.
The crafter having a cap is understandable at least, it helps with timing the filling of it so you get less half-filled crafters that craft unintended things. Sure it limits its uses, but it is understandable at least and a healthy debate can be had about it, a capped crafter for convenience of use for most people versus an uncapped crafter that is more powerful but a lot more tricky to use (Mumbo had a LOT of troubles to get the timings right, for example, and he's not exactly redstone illiterate...).
The copper bulb change is absolutely, irrevocably, completely moronic and should immediately be reverted to what it was.
For getting less half filled crates, just don’t use that fast of a clock
The crafter still has to reverted as well, having no delay can have so many intrusting uses.

Y'know, every day it gets harder to come to Mojang's defense. They created one of my favorite things ever, and they just make the strangest decisions about how to develop it.
I swear Mojang loves to sit there and look at why or what the community likes with each patch/part of the game them just remove it and never revert it despite all the complaints. 10/10 snapshot Mojang, I would say never change but they’d probably take it seriously.
The way I see it, this is if they added honey blocks, and then after a week, decided made them stick to slime blocks. It feels counterintuitive to make these changes. To limit a block because they provided a redstone purpose they didn't intend would throw things like targets and cauldrons out the window for the sole reason that mojang didn't intend them to work the way they do in common redstone contraptions.
Tho, you still have repeaters that can be used for the same purpose, and they are easily adjustable to 3 different speed/block. I'm pretty sure that the bulb just meant to be a redstone lamp but with copper theme and not signal timer.
@@tovarishcheleonora8542Not again. Bulbs are not repeaters.

Also the thing you worship that much are very likely was just an error in the code and not intentional. Because it very surely was just a "redstone lamp" witrh copper design for the new challenge dungeons which is mostly made out of copper. And not to be a tick timer.
I don't see the crafter nerf as quite so bad, though I definitely want it reverted, but the bulb nerf feels like it's gutting the one block that finally serves as a sink for copper as a utility. I'm not a Redstone genius myself, but even I understand how revolutionary the copper bulb was, and still learning little bits of interesting facts. I do really hope this change is reverted since I do agree on how it's unfair to match the tick speed, but the 1 tick delay allows for precise measurements and timing. @@primbin_dude, any beginner using the crafter also lost out here. But why do you need it
I heard about this change, but I didn't know that someone actually suggested it as a BUG REPORT?! Like??? Whoever that was had to have been trolling???
The villager curing nerf was also done due to a bug report. Usually unannounced mechanics tend to go on the bug tracker because it is unknown whether they are intentional or not (and anyways Mojang perfectly has the option of marking the report as Won't Fix or Works As Intended instead of fixing it)
And I don't think the reporter was trolling. They just saw some inconsistency (I know the video mentions the differences between the crafter and the dropper but the focus is on the dropping behavior itself), thought it was a bug, and reported it. Simple as that. They had no control over Mojang seeing it and deciding to fix it.
@@kmb600the villager curing thing makes sense to call a bug, but the solution doesn’t make sense, maybe instead make it so that there is an ai [As in a real AI not this chat GPT stuff but one that passes every turring test thrown at them and is obviously sapient,] who’s job (for which they recive fair compensation) is to essentially DM the game, controlling the mobs to make intelligent decisions, including having the villagers judge if you infected them on purpose in order to cure them or not and raise instead of lowering their prices if so.

We can fix the crafter by making more, I suppose that's fine, but the nerf totally destroys the copper bulb. Even in the uses for memory storage, they just made things more complicated again.
To be fair, it's actually a good thing that they made the crafter slower. Because it would be problematic on servers pretty quickly (because of lag machine potentials in the old speed).

Why do you choose to be a bootlicker? I'm curious.
@@apunishedmannamed2473 Okay so yeah that comment came off a bit as bootlicking but I’m not a bootlicker. I am very well reasoned in my defense of Mojang. The vanilla developer have much more work cut out for them than modders or even Notch when adding features. Notch could kinda do whatever the hell he wanted to since the game was a blank slate and no limitations were set by higher-ups or the games direction. That’s not to mention that his code still plagues the game to this day. Minecarts are a good example of why things need to not be rushed, they’re hella jank.
The game is horribly optimized as well, which is something that should have been done from the start. Coupled with a rocky foundation, Mojang is expected to pump out yearly content updates, which they have been doing. There have been bumps in the road, but I see them as mostly addressed (we do have a feature backlog, but since the game will be update long into the future, it doesn’t bother me).
So I’m just saying, be a little more patient? We’re getting this content consistently even despite the many extra challenges they face. Be glad we aren’t in a Silksong situation where the devs flat out refuse to communicate with the community despite a five year wait for the game…
@@BigMastah79 the entire point of this video is that if you are patient and wait until full release to critique how the bulbs & crafters work, the current changes will be put out as is and then it will be 1000000x more difficult for any kind of change to be implemented
so "i know it comes off as bootlicking but i'm not a bootlicker" is a useless comment. your goal in this comment sections is "be patient, don't critique, wait for stuff to get fixed" when that is antithetical to the issue.
basically, idc about your rhetoric, because the things you are saying are in direct opposition to wanting bulbs/crafters to work as a new or unique block, so eat dirt :)

Hey, if they like consistency so much, maybe make it so that the Copper Bulb is also a Solid Block like the Redstone Lamp so that it would power nearby bulbs as well. Lets ruin the possible future of redstone display screens as well!
Consistency after all is what only matters!
Haven't played in a while (and haven't done redstone in even longer) but the autocrafter change seems like a change you could justify (server lag, hopper timings, etc.) but I have no idea why they would change the bulb, since that change only takes options away.
Easier fix would be to have a gamerule.
Servers could have a high tick gamerule, while single player could keep the fast ticks.
Rather than taking options away, we have an opportunity to give people more options. The copper bulb has four variants, right? Normal, lightly weathered, weathered, and oxidized. Why not give each variant a different delay? As it gets more oxidized, it goes from instant, 1 game tick, 2 game ticks, and 3 game ticks. You can wax the bulb at any stage to lock in the delay. Four times the options!

At least textures can be reverted with a simple client side resouce pack. The block mechanics not so much.

I hardly ever use redstone for mechanical builds, but for more artistic builds. I was really excited for the gametick delay of copper bulbs. I hope Mojang will set that delay back.
I think what they could do, is maybe add a setting/gamerule to limit the block's update if lag is a concern. That way, if big servers don't want to have to deal with multiple people spamming the 1 tick blocks, they can use a gamerule to set their update rate to 4 instead of 1. Could be a middle ground.
Servers having control over this could break a LOT of red stone contraptions, so this might not be the best option imo
that is not the concern, Mojang is just being dumb
Lag was never a concern
That is not a concern, it's not simple and it's not a good idea 😂
Considering you can easily make machines with tens of thousands of block entities while keeping the mspt under 50 on a laptop with decent optimization mods & specs, this is a nothing burger. (also, mods for limiting redstone already exist)
Mojang after realizing they actually developed something new for once
if these changes aren't reverted, my guess is people will start making mods to fix the "fix"
One of the possible reasons for the "consistency" argument with copper blocks might be feature parity with Bedrock edition. Because redstone in bedrock is coded differently it might not have been possible to do the one game tick delay there.
Both version are different for years and they won't equalize them.
And why would we want it to be consistent with bedrock again, I’m gonna go full slippery slope and remove qc, scaffolding, and leafstone as well
Why not just axe bedrock edition and build a Java runtime environment for each console so we can play Java edition on them.
@@algotkristoffersson15Seriously i use pojavlauncher just cause bedrock redstone is so bad and i have like 0 performance issues and thats on something not optimised for a phone, its definitely doable
Bedrock will always be the inferior version in my eyes, like some kind of imperfect clone, everything about it is just ever so slightly "off" and it's different enough for me to not play it over the original. It's not even just Redstone, almost everything about the game feels like some kind of wacky imitation of something that exists in Java. The hand looks weird, mobs don't have the same behavior, there's a microtransaction store... it's just wrong.
I remember someone mentioned that trial spawners would have diamonds as one of the rewards, which is true since that was shown in Minecraft live. It makes sense why piglins wouldn't barter diamonds, but this one seemed a lot more realistic for some reason. It would make diamonds renewable, which would probably make people want to explore the structure a lot more. I'm surprised to see no one mentioning this.
They also dug up diamonds in archeology while showing that off at Minecraft live. Don't look into it too hard it means nothing.
@@blackmage1276 Archeology was like, the biggest communication mess in minecraft's history, im not sure if we should go off of that lol.
@@nintySW Im just saying Mojang seems to use diamonds in mc live as "generic award" and if you're actually expecting the trial chambers to give diamonds as a reward it's (politely said) absolutely moronic
I'd probably go down into a trial chamber more than a couple times if I could get diamonds from it. As it currently stands, the main uses are for early game gear and completionists, or just general fun gameplay.
did they revert the chnage in the end?
I cannot fathom the logic behind wanting to make blocks consistent in this manner. Minecraft has always been admired for how much of a sandbox it is, it gives you the tools, you apply them to make *whatever you want*. By having crafters and copper bulbs unique in the ways they were, that gave player more tools to make more, new and interesting creations. But now those unique tools have been taken away.
How boring would LEGO be if you only had access to 10 different brick types? It's the variety and different shapes and functions of the pieces that makes LEGO such a powerful medium for creating whatever you can dream of. This logic is the same in Minecraft. Why are we limiting the tools we have available to create?
