Have u tried D's?
What's that?
D's nux's
Oh man! That cracked me up.
2.34 he bumps the volume nob
Dzzzzzzz Nux!
Good walkthrough! I've got s set of these that I made a demo video for as well. One thing to mention is the charging pack also doubles as a battery pack. You can charge the system a couple times without having to plug in the power. very nice package
Great review. I have 2 basses with active pickups. Thanks for verifying this model works fine!!
Happy New Year Fluff...I watched that whole drone commercial before this vid and dammit...i think I want one!
Great technical explanation and demonstration... . I just bought them! You address the active pickup situation perfectly as all my basses have active pre-amps.
Thanks for the run thru. Just got one today
Still love your stuff fluff. Just got blackstar 40ht my first tube amp, i love it, grinds great.
I also believe the charging station is a power bank so you can charge when not plugged in. I'm impressed with these. Makes me hate using a cable. Thanks fluff
Thank you!
Great Review... SOLD! thx
Thanks just ordered mine now..my boss didn't work with my guitar so hopefully these will do the trick
Happy New Year ☝️
Happy New Year...
Thanks for the informative video! I bought a pair but it doesn't work with active pickup.
Thanks for the review, great job. I own these. My only wish is that they operated while charging via USB.
EDIT: Agree, latency is totally tolerable as is the sound quality, great quality to price ratio in this product.
Got the NUX B-2 and they're pretty good... How much of an improvement are the B-5 over the B-2?
Does the battery last 15 hours? I think the case gives 15 hours of charge but the TX/RX units go about 4 hrs (according to their website).
I wish someone made something as simple and affordable for wireless IEMs!
I was thinking of getting these but I also play through a modeler (mg30) and I'm worried about too much latency if I'm running both of those. Is that something I should worry about or is it not a problem?
Its cool. I think it would good around the house. I wouldnt play a show with anything without batteries or an exchangeable battery pack, though.
The pack it comes in is a wireless charging pack though.
Can you use these to record guitar through an audio interface instigated a cable?
And if you got a few pedals using, how you set that up. I'm new to wireless
Can you roll the volume knob back and still hear the difference in tone ? U know because is wireless.
Which one is best for acoustic guitars or does it matter thank you
Would love to see wireless channel and reverb switching units for amplifiers
Do you still have signature pickups? If so, what brand are they?
So I’m now on my 3rd NUX wireless device. I’m a professional streamer and use it daily. Have you had any issues with reliability? I had the button on one of them cave in completely, I’ve had one of them have a short in the angled 1/4” jack, and I’ve had one unit that wouldn’t sync. It’s great when it works but I’m just trying to gauge other people’s experiences.
Will this be apart of your gear traveling with you to Tom's this week?
Would you say this is comparable to the Line6 G30 system?
Of course I just bought the passive ones and then these come out
I need a wireless unit and I'm still not sure. There are so many out there. Digital or digital to be?
Hello all, is it possible to use this with a P2 Behringer as a inear monitor Stereo? I use a Harley Benton Airborne and it works but its mono.
4 hours battery life actually, the 15 hours is stored in the case and can charge the transmitter and receiver up to 3 times...
Fluff, this is an excellent video/demo of this product. However, you describe the battery life as being 15 hours on a single charge. I've also seen other reviews that say 9 hours, and I just watched one where a guy read right off the the box and it said 3.5 hours. I already have a crappy wireless that has the same charge time. I want something that has a longer battery life. I don't want to order it till I know for sure. 🤦 Oh well, keep up the good work!
Interesting nugget about active pickups, I wonder if that's why I had dropout issues with the Line 6 G10 system I had.
With active pickups, a wireless will either work or it won't, not really an in-between. There's a technical reason why dropouts occur, but that's too long for me to explain lol
“Today on roof spirits...” youtube auto caption never ceases to bring the lol
Fluff you should do a recreating tones video of a Linkin Album, I was thinking Meteora but there are so many different guitar tones between each album that you could honestly do any of them. Keep up the good work man!
Do they have separate channels?
You are on fire with your posting schedule! Postposterous approves!. ha!
Anyone get a "Drift Away" vibe from that first guitar demo?
I bought a 2.4ghz system off of Amazon for $40. For what i do it works great. A B with a cable i noticed i lost the bottom end very slightly.
This is easily fixed. Add a small capacitor across your input jack to simulate the presence of your cable.
@@driesvanoosten4417 its was such a slight difference that im sure i can correct with my eq pedal
how does it work when using a pretty large pedal board...just looking for something fo practice at the house ...i am a serious cable stepper ...tired of stepping on my cables
If you buy one pair, it's guitar to pedal board, and the pedal board is connected to the amp using cables. If you buy 2 pairs, you can eliminate both cables.
Great question
Hey fluff, if you’re taking requests for your “recreating tones” videos, could you please do the Pennywise “about time” tone? Or any pennywise album really lol
They use Mesa Boogie MKIVs.
Jack Thunder I thought fletcher uses a dual rectifier?
@@CallsignSlate He may use a Recto now. Im almost a 100% the earlier albums were done with MK amps, though.
Jack Thunder ooooh, gotcha
It is Rectos for sure. He actually had other bands at the time ask to borrow it to record Eric Melvin from Nofx (later bought a MKIII), Brett from Bad Religion, Down By Law used it, etc...he wanted to sound like Metallica and INITIALLY got a Studio 22 Preamp and Strategy 400, later moving on to Rectos. Live now is Rectos and VHT Pitbull racked, OR Two Rectos when on the road. Cheers!
I have a Line 6 G10 and every wireless unit I see for under $200 gets compared to mine. I like the Nux but I wouldn’t have it. I like how G10 receiver can be rigged to a pedalboard. The transmitter is a bit bulky and that’s really the only drawback. I like the Nux form factor. It’s tiny! That’s good
They get compared to the g10 because you can't compare them to a piece of quality gear like Sennheiser or Shure lol
Awesome demo! I’ve been looking for a wireless unit. What’s the song at 3:44? It sounds so familiar
I can to the comments to ask this as well. Very like 2000s emo vibe
Gives me a Not Good Enough For Truth In Cliche - Escape The Fate vibe but maybe that's just me
It sounds like the opening to "Scotty Doesn't know"
Question: Can you run these from a pedal board to a guitar and if so, will it affect any pedals tones?
yes you can, no it wouldn't change the tone
Out of curiosity anybody know how these thing perform for recording when using the receiver into the usb interface into a DAW.
The 4.8ms latency will add onto whatever interface drivers you are using will have. In other words, there would be no reason to record music wirelessly. A quality cable will never fail you and the studio is not the place to risk failures lol.
feedback from buyer on amazon says it does not work with active pickups.
They say most people can't hear a 20ms or less latency but musicians who are used to no latency will notice starting around 10ms or a little higher, in other words I agree. But 5ms isn't problematic at all. I'm more concerned about how wireless systems could react with pedals/buffers.
Sound travels 3.4 m in 10 ms. Musicians are not used to 'no latency'.
that means its added latency though hahahaha
Late sound??
So I was super stoked to learn about these but was disappointed to learn my active bass can't use these. Is there a unit similar to this that works on active basses?
I seen something on Amazon about someone modifying a cable to make it work it was in the review section of this unit picture of a cable
Uhhh ? I’ve never have any problem with my active emg’s and the xvive system
I play in the church before the mass, then sit and play again after 45 minutes.
The mixer sits away from me and no one sit next to it.
When I play again after 45 minutes, the unit that’s plugged in my guitar already went into sleep mode, which I’ll press on it to bring it back to life.
Fir the unit that’s plugged in the mixer, do I need also someone to press on it to bring it to life, or will it detects that the guitar side is active now and connects back?
I wish companies would use wireless packs... something sticking out the side of my guitar is aesthetically displeasing...
J Melara a big bulky pack on my guitar strap is displeasing
lbonvillain2007 I’d prefer for my self than my guitar have a boner🤷🏽♂️
Same. I love the Line 6 wireless systems. With a pack on the strap. Looks nicer and cleaner. I really don't like having something sticking out of the guitar like that. Looks tacky to me
This has a hinge, so it can actually sit flush against the body and have a low visual footprint. I guess in this video it wasn't done in order to show more of the device on screen.
You can just use an adapter to make them strap-mountable.
How do you compare these with the Nux B2? They seem to have pretty much the same specs, except additionally a four channel option and 20 hr battery. They're also a bit cheaper
The b5rc has a lot more features built in to the way it functions. Compare the spec sheets.
Hey great video. I play guitar and sing. Can you advise on an in ear system solution for guitar and vocals at the same time? So i don't have to rely on monitors for my vocals? My stage is generally really quiet and of course i want my guitars loud so i can have a little more dynamics in my playing and singing. Dont care if its a mono system or not P.S. I REALLY DONT WANNA SPEND A MILLION DOLLARS... LOL
Wireless guitar systems and IEM systems work in reverse with each other, so you'll need a separate unit for both. If you are playing actual live gigs and reliability is important to you, you'll be looking to spend at least $500 on each unit. That's just how the world of wireless goes. But this unit seems to changing the game when it comes to cheap wireless gear, but this is for guitars, not IEMs. Quality IEM units will easily cost $500+.
How will it work w a strat type input jack? Will it fit?
it fits
There's a wireless named Muslady for 3 bucks. You guys must try it!
Nice video dad
Is this device charged by micro usb or usb C ?
Can two Guitarist and a Bassist use that in a band practice??
Doctor, my NUX hurt?? 🎶🎸
Is it sterio?
Nice video, I dig this brand, alot, I have some pedals of theirs I've had for a while, good quality & they give you more bang for the buck. Definitely one to watch. But the name is NU-X. You can see by the triangle arrow there > in the logo. 🎸🎶
Yup ..pronounced "New X" I believe
The big question for me is the potential for audio drop outs when used at a gig where everyone else in the band uses wireless systems and the place is full of punters with mobile phones....... I’ve used loads of these systems and they mostly all drop out if you move for than 3 ft from the receiver! Apart from the line 6 ones, they seem to have cracked it
Never had issues with my Boss WL-20 as well...
Don't kill rock n roll man😊
Don't work on my gibon sg with active pickup booster switch, you get a high pich squeal. have'nt found any that seems to work, the best result is a cheep £16 uhf but you loose signal now and again.
Is there a difference in volume levels between a standard guitar cable and NUX B5RC? When having the guitar volume knob all the way to 10, the other brands i bought only give 6/10 and 8/10. i wish to find one that can give 10/10 volume output as guitar volume greatly influence efx pedals tone and also sustain
Just got this. Works with my EMG’s but not my Fishmans.....anyone else have this issue ?
B&B : did he say nuts
So, this or Boss WL-50? That’s the question bugging me
They both have their + and -
- The Nux is completely wireless & you can turn the jack-plug
- Boss WL-50 transmitter doesn't fit straight into every guitar ,
for example , Ibanez SRFF806 , you'll need a 90° 6,3 jack plug !!!
Boss all the way. I don't trust the chinese brands tbh...totally satisfied with the Boss WL-20 (which are more comparable to these here) :-)
NUX website says 100ft, not 50.
I could have compared the signal coming from this to a regular cable, both going straight to a DAW, or tested ho far you could go with it without dropouts. This is NOT a review or a product "check", it's a good old AD.
Are you ok, buddy?
“I could have compared...” Well hey, you can still make that video . I await your superior gear demo.
CZcams is an Ad. what's wrong with that?
OP is not wrong. These operating in the same bandwidth as WiFi should be very concerning to people actually playing out, or living in tight proximity to a lot of other people.
His “test” consisted of him being closed off in his home, in his room, with a single router in another room. Hardly putting the thing through its paces.
Even if it’s your hero, call them out when they are misleading or wrong.
@@cabbycabby1770 i'm good, thanks for asking. I'm just trying to give fluff a reminder of how he got where he is now. With good and relevant content. Not ads.
@@victorbicudo1374 Here's a guy who is upset for a man making bringing in more money than him lol
2:27 HAHAHAHAHAHA
What about a pedalboard
How are they on bass?
My question too
I use them on Bass no issues.
I've actually seen a couple reviews of this particular model of the Knox and the only thing I have questions on that I wish one reviewer would talk about was why it doesn't come as a 4 piece set 99% of guitarists that use electric guitar and amps use at least one pedal. so won't most people that these are marketed towards end up buying two because you're going to have one from your pedals to your amp and then one from your guitar to your pedals. so realistically you're actually spending double whatever the advertised price is plus whatever warranties it comes with that being said I think if this was shaved down to like $100 or $120 at most then doubling the cost would still be worth it and as affordable as some of the four $500 systems you can get. but right now you're using 2.4 gigahertz signal less than five milliseconds respond time which is all good but some of these systems are doing less than one millisecond response time using a five gigahertz signal for 70 to 80 dollars more. So I really like to see some sort of option for doubling the units that's actually affordable because most people are going to go from guitar to pedals pedals to amp.
Why the fuck would you need 4? You re not making any sense lol
Pedals are stationary though, so a 2nd wireless would be pointless. You'd also be doubling the latency going to your speakers which would take away the feel and make it almost too difficult to even play. I mean less cables is nice in theory, but it becomes impractical at a point. Also, saying 99% of guitarists use pedals is an overstatement. Many guitarists don't use pedals, and these days more and more people are just plugging into an audio interface because they're so much cheaper than any amp on the market with limitless tonal options.
That being said, a 2-pack wireless deal would still be nice for bands with more than one guitarist who want to go wireless. I'm looking to get a setup that allows for both the guitarists in my band to go wireless without having to spend over 2 grand.
Why not just use a cable from your pedals to your amp? Am I missing something?
We have different opinions on what "inexpensive" is.
Inexpensive? they cost around 360 bucks.... I'm no youtuber, man..! The B-2 pair is about 110 bucks. No charger included. 250 bucks for a charger?
Just a heads up, I spoke with a rep for nux, and it's not nux(nucks) it nu x (new X)
Yeah. I know.
No interference because most you net gear( almost all modern)probably runs on you 5Ghz network.
3:43 what song is that
Dude right?! So familiar
Sounds kinda like a slowed down Rufio-Above Me riff. But also something else
Well, a part of it reminded me of still Waiting by sum 41
$149 I don't even have any active pups atm so I will hard pass at that price I'd just buy the boss system
it works with passive pickups my guy
@@gahusk6091 I am well aware
I think it's pronounced new x
I'd be super pleased if they had the same system for headphones...is that impossible? Can you only have crappy blue tooth headphones with giant latency that makes them useless? could this work with adapters with my blye sadie headphones that are powered?...or am I just screwed til I can build them myself? which aint gonna happen??? I'm so sick of getting tangled in my shit..it would be cool if someone came out with the same type system that had the same latency, to make it line up nicely...just dreamin..nux hook me up!!
15 hours? Nope. UP TO 3 hours. And the unit will charge them 3 times. 9 hours, 3 at a time. As per their listing on Amazon.
So is this a review or an ad? It says in the description that they "sponsored" the video, but does that mean this is a paid feature, or is this a genuine review?
Paid ad. Make no mistake. The title is a giveaway too
do not recommend playing guitar and brushing your teeth at the same time, you will make a mess and you will most likely mess up the guitar and or the wireless system. C'mon fluff, do you want people to mess up their gear? haha, love the channel by the way.
Why do these things never come with a female to male 1/4" cable so you dont have to have it sticking out the bottom of the guitar asking to be smashed off
You could easily buy a 1ft extension for that.
@@NateThunder I know that dude, I'm just saying the main use case for this is obviously live use, and in that situation you don't want the thing exposed like that where it could potentially be damaged. If I were selling a 'premium' product I would have considered the target audience and included one for what little it'd cost. Just my opinion! Seems like a great product regardless.
The unit has a hinge that wasnt used in the video, to fold up closer/flatter to the body of the guitar.
Great product, but owners of GODIN A6 ULTRA, A6, A6 ULTRA BARI, A12 ( and maybe other Godin piezzo equipped guitars ) beware! It won't work!
I had the b2 model was very unreliable. It died after 5 gigs.
Joseph Moore jr. 5 gig a hurtz. Ba dum tssshh.
Closed off in your home, in your room, with a single router in a separate room? Not exactly putting this thing through the 2.4ghz bandwidth gauntlet, are we? Should be fine under those circumstances, but I’d research further if you actually plan to gig with these kinds of units.
Look at spectre media group. Glenn Fricker did a test on these as well. He went roughly 75 ft out side and it still transmitted through a concrete wall.
@bayou boat trash My concern is RF interference. Not the unit’s ability to talk to itself. The point in mentioning the rooms fluff is in, is that he has sort of created an RF safe space for it to operate in, which is not what gigging musicians will encounter in crowded city areas or music venues. They operate on the same bandwidth as WiFi. Who uses WiFi? Everybody. Therefore reasonable concern that these units may not be effective in venues or other crowded areas.
@@matthewjones8510 aahhhh, ok I gotcha. I understand your concern now. Yeah, it makes sense.
bayou boat trash I am subbed to both this and Fricker’s channel though. It’s just testing wireless units in isolation or through concrete walls doesn’t really show the consumer anything valuable. Broke folks that can’t afford to buy the wrong items for their purpose watch these channels. If your purpose is bedroom rocking, then awesome. You’ve seen enough to make an educated purchase. If you intend to take these out gigging...just know the evidence is stacked against that being a good idea.
Can this be used for bass guitar to?
"NEW-X"
150 dollars if anyone’s thinking inexpensive.
Deez nux?
i thought you had discovered something awesome but nope, just an ad
Can’t it be both? An ad for something awesome?
@@ElementsUnknown isnt that what all ads strive for? Its a sell out thing to do.
WTF is nucks Ryan ? shit is new X
You’re out of your mind if you think this is an acceptable wireless for major live gigs. The signal drop, like most all wireless systems is so bad with this thing it is unusable for anything but practice. The loss of EQ that you get is so apparent, anyone with precise hearing should notice. Either you are lying for the sponsor or you really don’t have much of an ear at all. Anyone reading this - do not buy if you plan to use in a professional setting.
I was talking about a weekend bar gig or something. I know several friends who use them for gigs 🤷🏼♀️
Brush your teeth while playing? Demonstration?
