    I've been interested in pursuing a masters degree abroad. France seems so scary! I've only been there once but just for 3 days. Glad you are here to offer genuine, non biased and authentic advice on moving there!

    Thanks for sharing!
    We totally agree that BDX is a super hard city to nail down accommodation. Even more so over the past 5-10 years.
    Great points and information used in the video. :)

    Jen, there are several agencies in Paris that will place foreign students in the homes of French host families for however long they may need housing. I did this when I went to Paris for two weeks in 2013. I cannot recommend this option enough. I stayed in a large apartment near Place de la Nation. The family provided me breakfast as well as five dinner per week. They were also very accommodating in that I always felt like a guest whose needs were being catered to. I never felt like a guy who was just renting a room. Now the difficult part about this option is that it is expensive. About 300 to 350 euros per week depending on how many meals one wants. However, I think that if one has money saved up and books in advance, it's a great option for at least the first few months (in order to avoid the "folie" of looking for an apartment in September) while the student gets settled and finds a part-time job. I used an agency called France Stay, which is run by a nice lady named Daniele Giret. www.students-francestay.com/en

    Great video and advice. While it is hard to find an apartment, renters are really well protected once you move in. And I love LBC!!

    Allo I lived in France in the mid 1970's and then working for the U S embassy and it was easier for me. I also had exchanged my place in NY City for an apt there. Otherwise it is not easy' Il faut que vous apprend la langue bisou

    Hi Jen!! This is being really helpful for me. I'm moving to Paris this summer with my mother. Could you make an apartment tour or a video where you explain how you got it? We don't speak French at all so it's being really complicated for us... thank you!!❤️

    Hello Jen, I've been watching your vids on France for the past day and taking down notes on what to do and what not to do on moving to Paris :)
    My question is what are the chances of finding an apt while still in my country of origin (in my case Canada)? I mean I think it would be incredibly difficult - and anxiety inducing for me - to come there on a working visa with no apt secured! Where did you stay in Paris before you found your apt? Thanks a lot!

    Bonsoir! I am moving to Paris in Janvier but still looking.. thankfully the sites you suggested such as Lacartedescolocs and Pap have many ads. I can understand them. But which site is better? Leboncoin seems to have many scams around.. merci beaucoup 🇫🇷📚

    Wow!! This is so so so SOOO useful!! Thank you so much!! What if I wanted to stay in Paris for a summer on a tourist visa? Do you think renting a small apartment is a good idea? Is it possible on a tourist visa? Or should I just stick to hostels and airbnb?
    It's crazy to think that you have to do al your paperwork and then go there before finding an apartment. Where do you live in between?

    • @justjoseph3660
      @justjoseph3660 Před 7 lety

      Jen Pinto Sweet!
      More logistical questions: Even if you rent an apartment over the summer on a tourist visa, do you still need to get insurance? How do we know what's illegal to do in terms of renting in France?
      Thank you sooo much!! Your videos are so helpful!

    I'm moving with a working holiday visa in November all the way from Australia. I'm so worried about finding an apartment and reliable housemate. Fingers crossed all goes ok 🤞🏼thank you for the helpful video 😊 How did you go about getting a french phone number/phone plan? I'm so confused!

    • @Ragoogi
      @Ragoogi Před 6 lety

      Merci! I'll have to research more. Is it necessary to have an official French address to apply for a mobile plan? Also, I'd love to know about opening a bank account in France, getting a guarantor for rent and if it's really needed. So much more to find out and so little time... Good luck with your studies in Paris! :-)

    Slow the titles. When I make videos I read titles and text three times. If I can read it three times it means that the audience can read it.
    Cut the videos into smaller pieces. I like your videos, but around 3 minutes my mind drifts. You could cut them into 3 minute and focus on one topics: Before you look for an apartment, looking, moving in.
    Thank you for making the videos they are really helpful. Keep it up!
