    Also I'm glad to see a near stock tire size, here in the Pacific Northwest we put on massive tires then bring along several spare CVs

      Haha I dunno about near stock, these are still 3.5" bigger than the original tyres, but yeah, these are probably the biggest I dare to go with my current setup

    Fantastic, finally some auto lockers for Subarus instead of just welding everything up.

    Any type of posi/locker for the transaxle? Im fine with running a welded rear around town, i like the looks i get from people when the 235 tires bark while turning a corner.
    You got a clean looking little rue

      Been daily 'up to 80 miles a day/5 days a week' with a welded diff this whole time. Still no trans axle mod that's worth the effort.

    What's involved with installing a torq locker in an l series??

    • @deadpenitence
      @deadpenitence  Před 4 lety

      Very much similar to installing into more modern R160 diffs, there's just slight tweaking to be done inside to make it fit from what I saw (the bloke in the black shirt was the installer)

      The Angry Yob I would love to hear more about the install on the L series. Very interested in one of these but I want to know what I’m getting myself into before I drop $429

      @@deadpenitence but aren't these lockers designed for male axles (l series have female) also with a different spline count?

    • @raynman6466
      @raynman6466 Před 4 lety

      @@cartwheels4amile after some research it seems it's not so simple, while it will fit inside an r160 non lsd diff it has a different spline count to the l series axles and also is designer for the newer axles which are male not female

    • @raynman6466
      @raynman6466 Před 4 lety

      @@cartwheels4amile I'd imagine the best course of action would be getting someone to machine some adapters that fit inside the locker and the end sticking out of the diff case have the correct spline for the l series axles

    does this just have a 2 inch lift with 27 inch muddies?

    • @deadpenitence

      2" lift, technically only 26" muddies

    • @ethan928
      @ethan928 Před 4 lety

      @@deadpenitence would you recommend 27x8.5r14 on a 2 inch lift?
      (I currently run 185r14)

    • @deadpenitence
      @deadpenitence  Před 4 lety

      @@ethan928 that seems to be the common choice. I run wide offsets so I had to "massage" mine quite a bit to even make the 26s fit.

  • @ethan928
    @ethan928 Před 4 lety

    What exhaust do you have installed on this l-series, and are you going to do a video in the sand comparing a stock l-series?

    • @deadpenitence
      @deadpenitence  Před 4 lety +1

      Stock headers, hot dog resonator in the middle, and a 2" exit pipe out the back. I'm definitely trying to get the time to test it out on the sand, unfortunately I don't know a lot of other people who have stock L Series wagons. My mate is currently fitting a locker to his, and the other ones either have engine or driveline swaps. But I can tell you from my brief foray into the sand a few weeks ago, it makes a hell of a difference, especially up rutted hills

    • @deadpenitence

    did you to change the rear diff to install the Torq Locker ?

    • @deadpenitence
      @deadpenitence  Před 4 lety

      Hey mate, from what I saw (I was guinea pig, the bloke talking was the person who did the install), it was very very minimal, basically was just a matter of squeezing it in to make it fit
