Been there, done that. I feel your pain Josh - so sorry to see you go down like that. Shoulders can be tricky to heal - be patient and give it time. Wishing you a speedy recovery. Take care.

Hey josh, sorry to hear about your shoulder. If people haven't seen Josh's videos and you're just reading this you should check out all of them. Josh you are a great example for the rest of the off-road motorcycle community, I hope you heal up fast. There is glucosamine chondroitin but I'd ask the doc first. Also when I've crashed in desert races in the past and I lacerated my arms or legs I noticed that taking vitamin c made everything heal up a lot faster for real. I'll say a prayer for your speedy recovery. The best thing you can do is heal up and get back out there and show them how you can ride. Thanks for including all of the people that get to watch you ride, thanks for taking us along on those wild journeys. Not very many people when you look at the population have actually been in a desert race of course. I've been in plenty of them and most people don't know when an adrenaline rush it is, then again at the same time the next rock or the next drop off could spell disaster. Most riders unless they're going pretty fast don't realize what it means to have a flow. And it's amazing how our eyes adjust and tell our brains to watch out for this group of rocks even though we're heading toward them at 50 mph. I think one of the worst dangers out there to riders is loose dirt on a corner on a hard pack surface with marble-sized rocks. I crashed into a sagebrush once and a stick was poking through my forearm😂. I thought now I know what it feels like to be shot by an arrow. I went home to pull it out I thought it would just be sort of a twinge, apparently being shot by an arrow would be a painful thing LOL. Also the last time you bit it was on private land, i thought i saw a dirt covered boulder where you slid out. Wow messed up shoulder you got back on and rode? Good for you, way to fight for it.

I love watching your videos. I hope you will start considering adding some outro or conclusion, even though in this case may have not been feasible 😅. Would love to hear your insights post race etc.

It's too bad that this is all private, there are so many really great sections of this race that I would love to be able to play on more often. I read your post, I really hope you guys all heal up quick and there are no lasting effects - glad is wasn't worse! We'll see you guys next season. Thanks for the great videos!

Hope you heal fast. It’s a bummer not being able to ride because of an injury. Good luck.

Bummer Josh. They need to rename this race to The Shoulder Separator. I separated my shoulder there back in 2014. Halfway through the 2nd lap. Finished the lap. Went into the pits and downed some ibuprofen. Finished the third lap at a less than brisk pace. It was fine unless the handlebars took a twist from hitting something. Sharp pain in the shoulder when that happened. Had to pick the bike up once as well. Not fun but I finished! Heal up quickly. I was back riding by January.

separated shoulders are interesting. when i did mine, i could ride np, but random movements off the bike caused it to hurt

You know what that might be one of those places to avoid when you're racing I've been racing off and on for years but I would avoid it.

Hey Josh. I am old school we wear shoulder pads for cross country races. How come very few modern day riders choose not too? I still ended up with a separated shoulder when I took a high speed crash back in the 1980's.
