What camera are you using to catch the footage while riding?

Some of this good advice may relate to higher speed sport riding by experienced/conditioned younger riders. I'm the 'opposite' and am surprised that standing is presented as an energy-saving position. Wide pegs have helped, but (at 65) I find it hard to stand for more than a few minutes. The position itself is draining (IMO), and the jarred-body effect savings may mostly be seen at higher speeds. I'll try to focus recommended foot position but I am also surprised a low heel's taut ham-string risking its injury on an unseen woodchuck-hole bounce.

So one thing I learned from a pro instructor was that pointing your leg out also adds much needed extra weight (from your leg) to help the front tire stick in the corner. I like both techniques and have done both but I find that foot out is far better just because of the weight up front and when in deep ruts.

I feel the 2stroke is better for raceing because if you hit the power band at the gate drop you clear everyone which is good because you can escape the first turn where the recks happen.if you disagree plz comment and let me know why ,no disrespect.bikes are 🏍️

Take his advice, I've been riding and racing dirt for over 50 years, Josh Knight is super fast and a great rider.

Two strokes are way easier to work on. 4 strokes get almost twice the mpg and you don't have to mix fuel and oil. Deal breaker though? 4 strokes have a timing chain which makes it impossible for most shade tree mechanics to change a piston and rings. 2 strokes can have explosive power, 4 strokes not so much. But on loose rocky hard pack hill climbs a two stoke can fishtail and waste power unless you're good at riding, but a 4 stoke has mello power but is usually heavier. So it's up to the rider.

So damn fast...right on!

I'm 34 and never ridden a four stroke .. every time I buy a used or new bike there's something about that exhaust and powerband that gets my willy all silly and I just friggin swipe ... I'm seriously bi curious on the strokes though lol. I feel I need to get on one and learn the difference

When you do put your leg out you should be pointing your toe inward as well. 😅

OMG I just explained same thing to my boys... 1 tenth of a second. Exactly the same thing I said. 30 corners on 1 lap of mx race..=3sec a lap.. 5 laps =15sec

I have a question it doesn’t relate much to the video but I Recently bought myself a Yamaha yz450 Im new to the dirt bike seen Ive used my friend dirt bike and I completely loved it. The question is ive been using quads my whole life last quad I had was a Raptor 700 does that experience help in the learning curve for the dirt bike?

I’ve owned majority 4 strokes bikes all my life, i got the little guy a kx65 and tried it out myself, man it’s a little rocket ship. Went and got myself a yz125 the next week 😂. There’s something so satisfying and fun about pushing your limits on the track and being able to stay inside the powerband through even the tightest turns. I want a 250 next !!

Been thinking about a wider tire for the rear. Maybe a 130 or 140/18. Thoughts? I'm still a beginner so any and everyone with some advice would be appreciated. I have a friend with a 300 Beta, running a 140 (wide) tire on the rear and swears by it. More tire on the ground and sticks out past the rim for even more traction in certain terrain. I'm on a 250 dual sport, use for commute but a lot of trail riding. 6ft and 265lbs of man. Any advice appreciated.

Josh what kind of gearing you have for that race? I have one coming up and dont want to go too low. Thanks

This was fun to watch. My dad used to race and host H&H races with Vikings MC in Southern CA. They always tried to make courses that did not use pre existing trails. Of course, by the end of the races, there were new trails through the desert.

Could you comment on the thickness of innertube that you actually use?

In 1982 I held the #5 plate in the state of Oregon in the 250 cc 1:14:10 desert division I unloaded hard and ended up in a wheelchair T-5 Para. Then recently broke my neck in a car accident and am lying here and found your video. I’VE BEEN RIDING YOUR BIKE FOR OVER AN HOUR!!! Thank you I haven’t been that happy and genuinely excited in forty two years Thank you man One huge problem. Please show the finishes. What a letdown I miss riding pinned on my Husky so badly. I just started riding Dirt Bikes and i have problems accelerating while standing up. I'm 14 years old and pretty skinny so everytime i do accelerate i fly back and my hand does so to so it accelerates even more and then i crash. Can i get some tips to try and prevent this?

How has your pump been holding up? Everywhere I’ve read says the hot water will cause premature pump failure. Was that a factor you considered in your build?
