- After spending few hours with Element Sendero Sport Edition at my local testing ground, I am very impressed with it. Stock RTR trucks have very difficult time with the climb test. TRX-4 Sport was able to clear Line #1 and #2. Element Ecto cleared Line #3. However, Line #4 is another story. So far there has been only one stock RTR truck that was able to clear Line #4, and that was Traxxas TRX6, until today. Overall Impression is at 8:10 mark. So enjoy!

I don’t know why it just wants to go over & up anything you throw at it. Today is day 2 I’ve had mine out with a new Fusion Pro in it metal beadlocks Proline Hyrax tires & Injora metal shocks. I took it out once stock & you can tell it’s going to be a fun truck to upgrade & make your own. But I had it out on all kinds of different terrain last 2 days & Im absolutely blown away. Other then needing stiffer tire foams probably 2 stag it was unreal how it changed the truck. I didn’t even want to stop wheeling it around it was just so fun & looks great doing it. The only other stock low price RTR that would match it would be the Axial Deadbolt but I believe the deadbolt is a bit more $. The control you have with the new Fusion Pro is so unreal up & down &cleans up the chassis nicely with less wiring & no esc. I’m looking forward to seeing any upgrades you do. 10% of Hobbywings right now Fusion Pro in stock. Just saying. 😂
Thanks for the comment. You have basically confirmed my initial impressions and the suggested upgrade route. My dilemma is to either keep it as a budget build (stock motor and upgrade ESC to HW 1080) or spend a bit more and go brushless setup with HW Fusion Pro (I picked up a few during the Black Friday deals). I am tempted to go with latter option, but at the same time it would be great option for my subscribers and keep to budget theme. Definitely thinking it over before starting the upgrades.
@@BigSungHobbies I agree honestly there isn’t a need to even upgrade as it sits. If someone was just getting into the hobby you can imagine they’d be blown away by the performance. Enthusiasts see it as a cheaper RTR they can upgrade & make it perform & look better either way you cannot go wrong. Element definitely knows how to make a Crawler that’s for sure. I was surprised when the SE came out & was different then any other Elements. It puts a smile on your face so that’s what really counts.
SE is a great example of what I like about Element RC. With each new release, they improve over the previous release at the same time they try new ideas that seem to make it a bit special. With Trailrunner/Knightrunner, they added IFS and adding that scale factor. With Gatekeeper/Ecto, they added trailing arms while improving many different areas which made it a special vehicle. Now with SE, they took the OG Sendero, streamlined and improved upon it (transmission, axles, shocks, body, wheelbase) and at the same time keeping the price point low. Very well done.

Great to hear! Sendero SE really surprised me to the point that I tried things that I normally would not such as the sidehill test...that's a tough one even for LCG rigs, but I kept feeling that it might actually clear it which led to it's first fall and scratch ;). The stock servo surprised me...it felt stronger than normal stock servo. I am used to top end servo, so it will probably be swapped at some point, but SOA setup seem to really help with steering. I have few things in mind, so be on the lookout. Merry Christmas to you as well.

Nightwalker sounds like an awesome name…knowing Element they might actually call it “Knightwalker” and include optional Knight Customs 3d printed parts. I am actually liking the tire so far. Definitely seems to be softer compound than Grabbers. I will break them in and see how it fares.
Does it perfom better than the Sendero HD? Always wanted one of those or an Ecto.
That’s a tough one for me to answer as I never had Sendero HD to compare to, and I don’t have enough time with the new transmission yet. But I am quite impressed it so far. The longer wheelbase really makes a difference. As for Ecto, I think ultimately Ecto might edge out as the body has much better potential, but you won’t go wrong with either one.
Looks nice! Is it just personal preference with this versus the Gatekeeper for same price? Gatekeeper seems like the better value with nicer parts though suspension is different for sure.
Thanks for a great question. Out of the box, Sendero SE will perform better than the Gatekeeper even though the Gatekeeper is a better value with nicer parts especially since they lowered the price down. Between the two, I think it really comes down to personal preference and your intention for the rig.
