- Haley Graham (Missy Peregrym) is a former gymnast-turned-juvenile delinquent whom, after one too many run-ins with the law, is forced to enroll at an elite gymnastics academy, the VGA in Houston, Texas which is run by the legendary Olympic gymnast Burt Vickerman (Jeff Bridges). But the rebellious Haley is not welcomed into the academy by the other teenage gymnasts whom despise her for walking out on her Junior Olympic team years earlier during a competition which cost them the gold medal. But Haley is not a docile person either and makes every effort to provoke conflicts with the other girls. Vickerman takes it upon himself to coach Haley in his own way to make her regain her self respect for the VGA's coming spot on the Gymnastic Nationals.
SUCH an underrated movie! I had ZERO interest or knowledge about gymnastics and still watched this 500 times. The sound track is so nostalgic and good!!!! Ahh!! An underrated early 2000s classic imo

But it has become a cult hit, it's managed to portray the sport itself correctly, the International Gymnastics Federation had made a significant change to sport’s scoring-it had ended the iconic Perfect 10 score

This was my first introduction to Missy Peregrym, her performance really makes the movie
One of my favorite soundtracks
Even a gymnast can get tired of the cookie cutter idea of achieving perfection and living up to the ideal body image
Being judged by your performance can get very straining so it's refreshing to actually control the results for a change
Today it feels very cathartic given the changes to the sport and with the gymnasts taking on the unjust system
Glad the movie did something right tackling troubled coaching and toxic body image
Plus the best parts about gymnastics: the sheer strength you garner physically and mentally, the support of fellow teammates with a healthy dose of competition, and the freedom to fly
My gymnastics teacher forced me to watch this movie 8 or 9 years. I quit gymnastics but I still love this movie.

i remember watching this movie when i was 5 or 6 y/o, so nostalgic! i've always love this movie!
lol, one of my all time fave films! theres one line in it i luv, (its not in the trailer) and haley's voice is a doing anarration whilst ur watching her fall in many different ways and the voice goes " and no, idont like falling, I LOVED IT!" best line ever!
i have seen this movie at least 10 times and it just never gets old...i think i'll watch it again tonight. :)
How have I not heard of this film? Gymnastics was my life (until the inevitable arthritis at 14, lol), and I loved Bring It On! Perfect =P YAY youtube for letting me know this film existed!

Haley: Missy Peregrym is beautiful and cute 🥺🥰. Shes my favorite female Character on here and one of my favorite actresses. The first time i saw her on here i fell in love with her right away. I didn't know she acted before then, but i remember she said this is her first movie and she was in her 20s, 24, when this movie came out 2006, i was 17. I wish i could've saw this at the movies with my friends in high school 🏫🎒.

this movie is simply awesome
What I find interesting about this movie is that Haley walked out on World Championships that took place in 2003. Ironically, in real life, 2003 was the first time Team USA won a World Championships team gold medal.

i really like this film :) especially cause it's not some boring teenage story about girl who has a troubled life then she tries to fix those problems then she meets a guy, they fall in love(of course in that same boring way they do in every other teenage movie xD ) then he helps her through it all and the end - BORING WELL KNOWN HAPPY END!but this not it ;D it's a very fun and pretty realistic happy end :DDD GREAT MOVIE! ;D

When I first saw Missy, I said the same thing. I remember I first saw Kristen in that scarecrow movie back in I think 2007 or 2008, I think it's when it came out. And the first time I saw Missy in stick it I said she kinda look like Kristen Stewart lol 😆 so weird everyone else saw it too.

I don’t know if anyone has the same nostalgia about this trailer that I do. But I remember when I first got the DVD for high school musical 1, this trailer played right at the beginning of the DVD. That is exactly what I thought when I watched this film!
the Gymnast does not correct it, take a deduction on her subsequent event. Underwear, including sports bras, should not be intentionally visible throughout the entire routine. However, if briefs or bra straps show due to activity, do not take a deduction. Unfortunately it is a rule
