@Jay 100% agree. Last season was daphnes story with a little of the side characters and this season was much more focused on everyone. I read the book and they had a lot more content they couldn’t included in the show.
Yeah that was a super bummer. Could've nixed all the other stuff with side characters,had the couples resolution and given at least 2 episodes of them actually together. Felt rushed there at the end.
I mean😩they have to bring more scenes of them in season 3
I realize now that she slightly tweaked her accent in Bridgerton to make it sound more Indian. What a natural actress she is. Glad we're discovering so many new talents that were going unnoticed.

Me too. I honestly have to say that Simone Ashley is strikingly beautiful and what I love about her beauty is her skin tone. OMG. Her skin color is so rich like dark brown chocolate. Just breathtakingly stunning.
But unfortunately she is not what our society defines as a standard of beauty. We unconsciously have a preference to white beauty. Especially look at all the skin bleaching across Asia and eyelid surgeries

@@jasmadden437 Yes and it’s an unfortunate problem that’s seemingly all too common. But it’s up to certain individuals like us who need to challenge those unrealistic, small-minded perspectives and perceptions of what’s beauty and how is presented to the public society. I do hope that future show runners, producers, screen writers and executive producers should actively push and practice the belief of putting racial inclusion in both big and small screens, meaning not going back to the days of hiring Caucasian entertainers to wear makeup (ie, Black face, Brown face and Yellow face) to look like a person of color, along with sounding and gesturing like a person of color. It also includes casting agencies who are responsible for not proactively doing their part of looking for and casting talented actors and actresses of different racial backgrounds to portray roles in a different but positive light.
She did such a great job portraying Kate, absolutely did her justice. Their chemistry was amazing and she’s so so talented. And of course a total stunner. I look forward to following her career and seeing other future projects 💜🐝

One of my favorite tropes? features? of romance novels is how even the most insufferable characters have something lovable about them revealed when it’s their turn to be a main character in the series. I love getting that peek under the surface and into a character’s inner self.
I liked season 1, but the moment I finished watching season 2 I started to rewatch it because yes - Anthony and Kate just The Best.
Thank you! Agreed, Anthony was so bad in season 1 😤 I’m so happy they fleshed him out more in season 2 and we got to unpack why he is the way he is. Simone and Jonathan’s chemistry was bomb 😎👏🏽

To have not one but two stunning, charming, beautiful, dark-skinned actresses of Indian descent on _Bridgerton_ this season is really nice to see. Simone Ashley and Charithra Chandran were perfectly cast since they really do look like they could be siblings!

I'm sorry to say and it's sad but they'll probably not get any important roles in bollywood 😔 so basically dark skinned indians will most likely get more roles in western countries than in india which is sad coz most of us are dark skinned (I'm not saying all b4 any colorist attacks me).

Kate is one of the better characters in the book series. I’m excited to watch her portrayal. She’s already has that ‘Kate’ presence plus she’s gorgeous.

Something that's really obvious in the show is how there must be diversity in the crew, too - everyone looked their best, with makeup perfectly suited to their skin tones, dressed in colors that go really well with their complexions, and the hair was done beautifully. It's so frustrating to see gorgeous darker skinned actresses on screen with disastrous makeup, and I think it's really neat that there seemed to be a real effort to highlight everyone's beauty in this.

@@itzelgodinez6548 true, but it’s very apparent that the choice to do so was intentional, it wasn’t a mistake because the crew didn’t know/have any experience. Wearing colors that don’t suit you sends a very distinct message and I think the crew did a great job using color analysis/color season to their advantage in the show.
Kate’s description in the books + Netflix indian family twist = Simone Ashley perfection. She is exactly how the book described Kate - taller than Edwina, darker, held herself with an air of confidence, dark eyes. As per Anthony’s description- “Kate‟s face was a touch too long, her chin a hair too pointed, her eyes a shade too big. Everything about her was too something. Even her mouth, which vexed him to no end with its endless stream of insults and opinions, was too full.”
i just read the book after watching the season and this stood out to me too! she’s actually perfectly cast, i can’t imagine who could’ve fit that description better.

A lot of people are worried that Kate won’t be in future seasons, but after losing Regé-Jean after season 1 I’m sure Netflix and Shondaland explicitly put it in the contracts of new cast members that they have to appear in future season. She’s definitely gonna appear. Her and Anthony are also now the heads of the Bridgerton family so it would be weird if she didn’t appear. (I’d be fine with Edwina not appearing though. Loved the actress but I’m not sure what Edwina could still add to the show going forward. They could just mention that she’s now married to the Prince and I’d be fine lol).
she (edwina) adds representation so I would love to see her in the future seasons as well, even if it "does not add to the story"
I think Edwina could add to The Queens storyline. I'm assuming the Queen doesn't have children of her own so it could make for an interesting story!

Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE the South-Asian representation, but keeping Edwina around just for the sake of diversity wouldn’t make much sense, especially in a show like Bridgerton where they keep adding new characters every season. That would just unnecessarily crowd the show.

Finally somebody said it...i was waiting to see why nobody has corrected the fact that "chai tea" means "tea tea" and Simone Ashley actually having Indian roots why did she not correct the writer about the "Chai Tea" thing in this interview or the "Hindustani" language in the Bridgerton. It's sad how little they know about their origins that they literally cannot correct the simple errors or misconceptions and misunderstanding they have about many things.
@@shristithami5339 actually hindustani is a language. If you google it, its actually a combination of hindi and urdu spoken largely in in older days. Also in the uk everywhere u go its called chai tea. So yes the correct word is just chai but she was raised in england and most english folk only know chai tea as infian tea. The word tea by itself is traditional english tea to british ppl so they have to make a differentiation for british ppl watching. Also indian ppl in the uk do know their origins, perhaps even better than indians who actually live in india that are brainwashed by the india government into believing false truths abt the country's history.

I was sooooo happy she was the lead, she's so gorgeous and the Asian rep is so good 😫♥️✨ I felt my childhood soul heal, like all the princesses in books were always blond with blue eyes (Kate is described like that too in the books -apparently ) and having brown eyes and hair myself, being fascinated by cultures around the world, I've always wanted to see more diversity on screen. So seeing this beautiful dark skinned Indian woman playing a 'princess', it just healed my heart a little more 🥺♥️
Why do you want to be represented in european period dramas? I don't get it. Indians already have bollywood period dramas depicting their OWN history, depicting indian princesses, so why do you want to be inserted into european history too? The number of non white people in England during the time bridgerton is set was absolutely miniscule. Why do you feel the need to be represented in an environment where you would not have historically existed?

Asians already have their own historical dramas depicting their own history and culture, so why do they want to be included in european history and culture too? If korean dramas started including random white people everyone would call it cultural appropriation or something. I agree that representation is very important in tv and movies set in the modern day, but what's the point of pretending the past was diverse too? She is utterly adorable, and look at that amazingly sunny smile! Only word to describe her is stunning. She plays such a stern and mature character, to see her so sweet and engaging is so different. Okay to be honest, Kate was the absolutely most ravishing character on the show so far (next to the Queen of course). The aesthetic was mythic, her personality was amazing and frankly I've developed a bit of a crush on the actress who plays her. FLAWLESS! 🥲
