Our guitar player picked up one of those green Epi SG's with the p-90s a while back and has been very happy with it!
Hell yeah!
Thanks for watching and be sure to drop a comment below with a good affordable guitar and share this video with a friend if you think they would like it cheers!

One of my main guitars for c standard is a Hagström Viking, bought second hand for the equivalent of $300. Semi hollow guitars are criminally underrated for metal in general!
I got the green Epiphone SG Classic Worn with P-90s. It's my first SG and my first Epiphone. I love it. I didn't like the tuners, though, so I replaced the stock tuners with some Grover Deluxe; I like them way better.
Been eyeing those dor a while. Might have to pull the trigger.
Go for it, dude!
You won't regret it! Awesome guitar. I find myself going back to it over my Gibson Les Paul quite often.@@OrthodoxReview
LTD guitars are a killer option in the Epiphone/Gibson style that seem to be a bit better constructed with more features than the comparably priced Epis.
One of my main guitars is actually a Squier Affinity Tele with single coils. I put a Duncan Little ‘59 mini humbucker in the bridge and it’s doomy as hell. A really mid-forward pickup that, with the stock pot values, is on the dark side. It started as just a project guitar but I love it and play it as much (if not more than) my more expensive guitars.
Seconding the recommendation for LTD. I am absolutely enamored with their Telecaster style model, and I reckon if I ever got a LP or SG style guitar, I'd get it from them. They're lighter, more ergonomic, have thinner necks that I like, 25,5 inch scale lenght which is nicer for low tunings, and many of them come with coil splits on the humbuckers. Ibanez and LTD are my favorites.
True! If someone go for a balanced qualit/price instrument 256 series EC and Viper will be the winner. The built qualiti is high, playability is high and easy to upgrade them.
Yes LTD and Schecter will have better quality than the two big brands.
Love this channel.
🙏
I picked up a 2019 Epiphone SG Special for my drop tune Doom metal guitar. I had it set up to D standard and it holds okay down to C Standard. I recommend replacing the tuners if anything and picked up Klusons ($49.99+shipping) that fit Epiphone guitars from StewMac with an 18:1 gear ratio! Thanks for the video Jason!
I have a Epiphone G310. Its basically a SG Special with better tuners and separate tone and volume for each pickup. Mine cost me 99 bucks and it came with a invader pickup at the bridge. Pawn shop score!!!
@@Keith-rk4td wow that was a steal! Yeah the used market for these SGs are pretty good too. I got mine for $130 used but probably could have shopped around.
My vote is for the Kramer Beretta Special. The build quality, neck, and pickup are amazing for $200. It's glam but can pass as a doom guitar if you get the black one.
Agreed
Agreed! In fact I got one! I changed the pickups tho
I have a pink one with a Duncan JB and it's my Eb Slayer guitar. The Barettas are great.
Got a white one with grenadillo fingerboard, used, but mint condition: she plays a lot, man! A LOT!
Standard pickup, got rid of the capacitor.
I got the purple one. Blocked the trem and keep it in drop A
You can get most guitars to doom. I always use my jackson warrior with a floyd rose that I blocked so it's a hardtail and then I made a pickgaurd to cover the neck pickup and put a single emg 81 in the bridge with the 24volt mod and it sounds sick for doom thru my orange micro dark (also sick doom amp on a budget) and my randall rg80 🐌🤘
I’m a big fan of the Epi SGs. I would personally recommend the Traditional Pro over the Standard. Lower price (typically the same as the worn Classic, which can both be found frequently on sale under $400). Humbuckers with coil tap, the lower price makes doing hardware upgrades easy, and have cooler finish options (I got the Gold and it really stands out). I also have the Green Worn Classic with the P90s. It is my current favorite guitar. Something I didn’t account for when ordering is how smooth the neck would feel and how much lighter it would be with that raw finish. It’s absolutely delightful to play in a long set. I swapped out the pickups for some Widdershins Pagan 90s and it is an absolute killer.
I picked up a firefly v for less than $200 before shipping. Gave it a fret work over and dropped some lace dragonauts in and it looks, sounds, and plays amazing! My fav guitar to play right now
I have an Epi SG special too. If I were me back then I would go for one step higher price range than SG special. I like it but to set up well is difficult.
Good picks, I was thinking recently that the gretsch g5220 (especially in the Bristol fog colour) would be a good budget doom guitar, I've seen quite a few videos of them being used for metal and the pickups sound great.
I like ESP LTD Viper~256 personally. I switched to them after seeing Pepper Keenan in Corrosion of Conformity and DOWN. They stay in tune really well and you can usually find nice ones under $500
Good good video.👍thanks man
Thanks for watching!
BC rich mockingbird special x are built amazingly well, have sustain for days and come with decent pickups. They're beautiful and very underappreciated
I had one, good looking and sounded great, but I play standing up. The neck dive was just too much for me.
Cool vid! I assembled a Jazzmaster Harley Benton kit and put in a DiMarzio hb as the bridge pickup and locking tuners; works great at lower tunings for around 180 euros!
Love my Squier Jazzmasters but wanna swap out the the bridge single coil. Any issues with the Dimarzio fitting w/o routing?
Epiphone lp special ii is very cheap and is a great entry level guitar. I had one for 22 years. In that time, it was a great mod platform and lasted countless shows. It sounded great in C standard, but just as you said, lower tunings than that would’ve been an issue.
Excellent video and a great discussion! Cheers!
Schecter tempest. Amazing guitar!
Second Schecter guitars for value and quality! My Schecter C-1 Plus has been my go to even while learning more Doom Metal and their models are so versatile.
The S-1 Schecter Elite has some great hardware for downtuning. I found one with a Seymor Duncan P90 Rail (splittable P90/Humbucker) in the neck and Dimebag Humbucker in the bridge for less than $500. It's a fantastic upgrade over my Toronado.
I looked into and love the vibe of this guitar, but it kind of sucks the the Custom is 22 fret 24.75" scale length. For that price point I could just get an SG. Then the Blackjack variation IS a 24 fret 25.5" scale length, but it's aesthetic is too "modern metal" for me. It's so close to being a must buy. So close...
I got the epiphone 60s standard in the video. Tuned to B standard, love the feel of the neck. I put wheel weights in the body cavity to helps prevent neck diving, the pick ups are ok, kind of muddy sounding but something I would like to change. A solid guitar for the price.
Really good picks. Now in terms of bang for buck, it's really hard to pass up Harley Benton (Thomann's house brand). They also have a Reverb shop if your worried about shipping from overseas. They've got Les Paul, SG, Tele, and even PRS style guitars for not a lot. I"ve gotten several (guitars and basses) over the years and havent had a problem quality wise. I also have a G&L ASAT Tribute import that will pop up on Reverb from time to time that checks all the boxes for the Fender scale for again, not a whole lot of money.
I just picked up an Epiphone Flying V and it immediately became my go to double humbucker guitar doom machine. I’ve got the green P90 Epiphone SG and they are both 🔥 for the price. I also have a Squier telecaster. Not a double humbucker model, I love the 25.5” scale and the tele bridge pickups. You can get such a great guitar for under $600 these days, grab a few!
Stoked to see some Flying V love!
@@FuzzlordEffects I have always been curious about owning a Flying V. It seemed to me the string through body would be excellent for doom and with a set neck, mahogony body and two humbuckers, I couldn’t go wrong. My intuition was correct.
Hot take: Harley Benton is good bang for rhe buck, if you're willing to set it up.
firefly as well. Gonna have to setup and replace but the pickups but the quality aside from the electronics is pretty unreal .
The Sterling made by Musicman are amazing and priced great. Just about any pickup configuration you can come up with.
Also single coil telecaster is my go to for doom 🎉
I'd love to see you play the Gretsch G5260, the 29.75" baritone. I think it would sound amazing through your doom setup.
Or... B.C. Rich SE 30" baritone!😳🤟🏻 (I have one tuned to E-std. using Ernie Ball 20w-90 strings...😳😅💪🏻)
Greetings from Finland.🇫🇮🌲🌲🌲
It’s not everyday you see one of your guitar builds and your music room on a random video while checking for some doom info. Apparently I am already making doom guitars lol. Dig the channel, keep dooming!
Oh cool! Which one is yours???
@@FuzzlordEffects that gold jazzmaster came off my bench. It was a cool little set up. I just did a John Birch Iommi restoration not too long ago. It was a killer.
Beautiful guitar man!
Squire paranormal telecaster baritone !!
Nice!
@@FuzzlordEffects also the gretsch baritone
I managed to get a new 2017 Gibson SG Special T for $600 on Musician's Friends "Stupid Deal of the Day". Most of the time it's cables and other small things, but if you watch it every day they drop some really good deals from time to time on guitars.
I'd suggest looking up used lawsuit era les pauls, insane bang for the buck. Tokai, Greco and Burny are usually good ones.
As an Aussie, if you're looking for a very* budget friendly brand that does decent stuff, any of the humbucker style guitars from Artist rip for the money whether you want SG, lespaul, tele or jazzmaster styles. Their bullbucker pickups in particular are faithful SD clones. Their P90s are also pretty cool. Really good bang for your buck.
I have their baritone paired with a peavey bandit redstripe with celestion redback. This combination crushes!
Great choices, now I'd like to add some more if yo don't mind. I'm mainly an SG guy, we don't play doom, but rather some kind of psychedelic/stoner music and are not tuned too low at drop C. For me SG's and LP's worked just perfect, but about a half a year ago I got myself an Epiphone Firebird, the new one with the original neck-through construction. Now that is a hell of a guitar, I tell ya'! I thought the pickups would need to be replaced with something better, but boy was I wrong there... They are rather low output (just as the original vintage FB pickups were) but with the right amount of gain they just scream. The build quality is really good, I haven't seen the new higher end Epi's yet, but if this middle tier guitar is this good, I can imagine how those are built. Anyhow, not necessarily a typical doom metal guitar, but if you are looking for something a bit different, I can whole-heartedly recommend it, for me at least it is definitely a keeper.
If you are looking for good quality LP style guitars, maybe the Swedish brand Hagström is worth to take a look too, though their current line-up is made in China as far as I know (as are most of the Epi's too btw.) If you are in the used market too, it might be worth to look up older ones from the seventies, those were made in Sweden, and are at really another level of craftsmanship, however they are not necessarily cheap, maybe only cheaper alternatives to similarly aged Gibsons or Fenders.
And I would also mention the old Japanese Gibson copies from the seventies and eighties, I had recently quite a few Les Paul Custom copies from Orville, Tokai and Greco, they were all fantastic instruments. Again not necessarily cheap, but really affordable alternatives to the same original modell from Gibson, especially considering the age factor too.
One of my favorite guitars for fuzz, and it may seem like an odd choice, the Danelectro 59. Keep the toggle in the middle position. With the stacked vol/tone for both single coils, I turn down the tone on the neck pickup (almost all the way), then dial in the volume, so it is just audible with the bridge. This gets me a lot of low end, but the bridge gives the clarity. On top of these being semi-hollow, it has sustain for days.
Hello! i'm currently learning how to get into the whole doom metal guitar playing and i was curious on your thoughts on playing something like a stratocaster (HSS or SSS configuration) for this style of music.
Redid RG22, $160 bucks, mahogany wood, neck thru, square inlays, neck binding, bone nut, no sharp frets, stays in tune, nice string action, 4 colors to choose, bigger more devilish horns and the headstock has the Gibson open book shape. I got the vintage burst one for Xmas, swapped pickups for some super distortion copies with series/parallel push pull pots, added a cream 62' SG pickguard and humbucker rings , and upgraded the electronics. It beats any set neck epiphone or any other SG copy by far. Just get the black one, add a chrome pickguard and voila! Tony Iommi's SG on a budget. 🤟
The Hagström Super Swede reissues are killer. A 25 inch Les Paul style.
Great addition to the list 🙏
I definitely second the Squier Jazzmaster suggestion. I bought a used Affinitty HH for $100 a few years ago and only needed new strings and $40 worth of minor repairs. I originally went for it because being a huge Nirvana fan, it was the closest to a Jaguar that I could afford, but I love jamming on that thing in drop C through my Superfuzz. It’s the least amount of money I’ve got into a guitar, and I find myself reaching for it the most lately. All hail budget gear! 🤘🏻🤘🏻
I vould like to add Reverend Sensei to the list. I bought one used a couple of months back for around 550$, and I love it. Yamaha Revstar was also on my watch list. I was also checking out Gretsch and Epiphone ES-types and the Wilshire. Weststone and similar brands also looked nice.
I've been rocking a Dean ML for nearly 10 years playing sludge and doom, it's not a common look but it's what I got.
I’m using a Mitchell ms450 with 12-52 strings tuned to c standard and it dooms great
i have the epiphone sg in Inverness green ..an Epiphone les paul and LTD-EC 256...and love them all! my doom bass is an Epiphone thunderbird 🖤🖤🖤🖤
My doom guitar is a baby blue Fender Player series Nashville Telecaster in C# Standard with a black pickguard and furniture. You wouldn't think, but I've got a Hot Rails in the bridge, and I run the bridge and the middle pickup for most riffing, and it has the wildest sound with the right distortion/fuzz. First rate guitar as well. It used to by my #1 and it took years to find a guitar that beat it out of the E standard spot, and it was best suited to detuning.
i play in my band with a B.C Rich Draco black and it's works like a beast !
I find it weird that there aren't more Doom artists playing Dean Guitars, they play great, even the budget models, and they are just metal, been playing them for more than a decade even though I'm a luthier myself.
I have wanted a ML ever since I was a teen and have never owned one but they are such cool guitars! Making me want one again 😂
@@FuzzlordEffects go for it Jason 😂 and if you do, make a video with it! The ML is one of my all time favourite shapes, also love my Razorback tuned to drop E for some Conan style riffs, it's a beast.
I have a Dean bass from about a decade ago. Picked it up second hand cheap, needed a bass quick. Not sure the model, but it reminds me of Cliff's old black Spector a little. Has an elongated top horn. I still use it for recording. I can get that attack like you'd hear on a Faith No More record. It's awesome.
ESP LTD Viper. Similar to the SG. Much like the Epiphones, there's a range of models and price ranges to choose from.
If it's Doom enough for Kirk in Crowbar, it's Doom enough for me.
Better quality than Epiphone.
I have had my telecaster for at least 16 years, it is modified but until 2 months ago I had never tried a Gibson tuning fork to see I took a Harley Benton for 150 € so for a question of comfort at the neck level I took a ltd ec256 and I made an SG myself with bareknucle and a project in anticipation of a jazzmaster at the 24.75 pitch with a dunable head but my mobydick is a dean ml blackjack
My EMG Ibanez RGs (fixed bridge) absolutely turns my clean channel into fuzz territory, it rocks ! Now combine that hot output with a Rat or something and it’s pure Sleep
Yamaha Revstar. Insane quality. My Standard is better than all my expensive guitars. Heard good things about the cheaper elements version to.
Sg special is what I got and I been playing for 32 yrs I just upgraded the pickups and I recently bought a Mitchell MS450 used for 100 which comes with push pull pots and an all mahogany body
what do you think of baritones for tuning REALLY low for bands like primitive man that are tuning all the way down at a G# or even lower?
i want to say their guitarist ethan switched to a baritone recently from using gibsons
I doom with a les Paul junior p90 and I love it . I would kill for a DUNABLE or a FIRST ACT…🔥🔥🤘🏻
I've been wanting an Epiphone Alpine White LP for quite some time. Firefly guitars have some pretty bang for your buck guitars as well. V's, LP's, Explorers, SG's. Usually run between $160-$280. Some of them even have stainless steel frets (or so they claim).
After a P-90n/SH-10 pickup swap, and a $45 bigsby, my Firefly LP bangs hard after 2 years
Nice!!
Got my Harley Benton deluxe 550 used for 120 bucks and I think this les paul is a super good fit for doom as well. Also props to the epiphone sg classic worn with the p90s and the squier jazzmaster contemporary. I switched the pickups and tuners on the squier and now it’s a real workinghorse. Great idea showing Budget guitars! Would love to see some basic mods and upgrades you would recommend!
May not be a popular doom choice, but my modded sterling stingray stealth is amazing 🤘
Hell yeah!
PRS SE series, Custom 24's are really good for Doom and Stoner Metal. Even though PRS doesn't have the reputation for the Doom/Stoner genres, my SE models do the job really well. I have the 22 fret Tremonti signature model and it sounds good at C, C#, & D standards. PRS's are a little bit on the pricey side but it's worth it and the quality is exceptional.
I have to admit, if a parent is going to buy a guitar for their kid and the kid is into Doom/ Stoner Metal, those Epiphones are a perfect first choice.
how about the Epiphone SG standard, it is any good?
I'd add Reverend Sensei RA and the Polara deluxe series also looks really good (especially the Kim Thayil signature).
Am I wrong liking p90s ( les Paul special) thru a fuzz / octave for doom?
Not at all!!!
The cheaper gretsch solid bodies are cool, some are dual humbucker and some have a bridge humbucker and neck p90. The pastel 50s colors arent super doomy but i believe they make them in a natural brown stain finish and maybe black too as well.
Chat Pile uses a Peavey T-60, they helped "ruin" the market. I've been very happy with my Squier Toronado for doom--it's a Fender version of an SG with hot (10k neck, 14k bridge) pickups. I added a treble bleed on the neck and a .47 capacitor on the bridge tone pot and it chugs and thumps very articulately. Inverse power chords with 10-52 strings are pretty massive on this in D standard.
I mean take T-60 with an aluminum neck put on it, and it's like a cheaper alternative to a Travis Bean
I use a Glarry GST-E. It was about 70 bucks, delivered to the door. I did about 60 in upgrades, and it does fine.
Ibanez RG Standards are a great, versatile option for players on a budget interested in traditional doom. I own an RG421EX Standard it handles low tunings really well and has a surprising amount of sustain and low end. I’d also look into a Schecter C-6 Deluxe as an option in the same price range.
Thinking about installing an Aluminum Neck on my T40 Bass. Any recommendations on brands? I found Hoxey to be the most affordable ones but not sure how good they are compared to EGC or Baguley.
@nate8lowe I just did a quick google search and they look badass! Not on the cheaper side but definitely looks like good quality.
Haven't tried Hoxey but seems folks like them! Aluminati is also great as well as Obscura MFG necks
The way off the beaten path, but I play Fernandes guitars.I play the Vertigo and Monterey series models. Well made guitars made in Japan and the USA depending on the years. Reasonable prices on the used market. US distribution stopped after the 00’s but if you can find them they are worth a look.
Dude that is so cool!!!!! Didn’t Rob Zombies guitarist used to play them exclusively
@@FuzzlordEffects yea he did! Not sure if he still does but I know he did and even had a signature model if I remember correctly!
I’ve been looking for guitars and I saw that the Ibanez AR series is pretty affordable and seems like it would fit in really good for Doom metal but I’ve never really heard anyone talk about them. Has anyone tried them out?
Ibanez makes great guitars!
MIM Fender Jaguars or Jazzmasters are always good. I have heard great things about Harley Benton and would probably buy one over an epiphone.
I got a harley benton DLX Gotoh about a year ago for £200 and it's amazing! The pickups sound great and the neck is very comfortable. Though my metallic blue one looks more Glam rock than Doom 😂
This goes out to any Esp LTD EC256 folks, how does it doom? Cant beat the price, 2 HB and they're beautiful. Any opinions would be helpful, cant seem to find many doom specific reviews. Ty!
Question: if the basic doom sound is mainly about having humbuckers and the right pedals, how come my preference of guitars (Ibanez RG's and Jacksons, both superstrats) wouldn't work? That was not made clear. I'm more into the superstrat style guitars then the SG, Les Paul, Tele, etc. (although I'm kind of interested in the Jazzmaster, but that's a side note). I would just prefer to do doom with guitars that I have and like more, than to go out and buy something I don't have and don't like as much. Appreciate your kind response, thanks !
Those are also really awesome guitars! Going to do another video soon with many of the other awesome suggestions from people. My only suggestion to people is to consider avoiding active pickups if they are going for a more traditional doom sound 🙏
@@FuzzlordEffects thank you sir! New sub and I'm loving your channel...thanks for the content, peace

It’s own 7” record ⛓️
Hagstrom Deuce F (with Bigsby).
Double Cut LP style with 25,5 inch scale length.
My Baby.
Nice!!
I wouldn't necessarily recommend it for a true beginner but look for old hondo les paul copies. I picked up one up for $100 and found it came stock with dimarzio pickups. It's my living room doom guitar now.
Can't leave out Schecter
I gotta say usually schecter isn’t my bag but they make some pretty cool doomy guitars
Tbh they look too modern-y for doom metal but they're still a good option, the SGR (budget Schecter) stuff too
Most or their guitars are a bit too much output. Actives take the flavor of fuzz.
I recommend Jackson JS11, Jackson JS1X Minion, Jackson JS12 and Eastcoast HM1 guitars if your money is tight for any Metal Sub Genre including Doom Metal, Metalcore, Heavy Metal and Folk Metal
Bought that Worn Green P90 Epi SG around 2 years ago, man is this thing BUILT for stoner and doom music. Give it a good setup, strings that can handle drop tuning and you're good to go. Stock pickups are surprisingly good, and you just can't get tired of that color.
no suggestions but great video!
Thank you so much!
The epiphone SG modern can be had for less than 400 used before shipping and tax. It has coil split and a phase switch. Lots more doom and stoner rock sounds inside the guitar than one w/o the switches
Any thoughts on the Hagstrom Fantomen?
Have played one Hagstrom and they are awesome guitars 🔥
If you are going for the Kirk Windstein look and sound an Epiphone Explorer could do the job, just replace the pickups with a pair of EMGs 81s!
Windstein also played LTD/ESPs for years -- specifically the Eclipse and Viper. Most of these in the used market come stock with those EMGs you mentioned, no mods required! I know Jason was working with the condition of avoiding active pickups here, but you can't argue how savage Crowbar's Doom tone has been through the decades utilizing EMGs, solid state Randalls and Metal Zones of all pedals. Sometimes the old 'can of bees' stuff is just what serves the mood.
@@brendansullivan7069 I think Sammy Duet had the same setup for Acid Bad: Guitar with EMG 81s>Metal Zone >SOLID STATE AMP> Cabinet with Vintage 30s.
I just got one of those squier contemporary Jazzmasters and it rips ...I am about to put a set of passive pickups in it though,it comes with actives
What kind are you putting in your Squier JM? I wanna do the same but am not sure what will fit
hey Ted, any standard size humbucker will fit, just don't get any that are "F-spaced" those are for floyd rose guitars so they'd be a bit wider..as far as brand goes,i generally go with seymour duncan or guitar fetish for a more budget option, but his time i wanted to try some Alnico 2 style pickups because i've never tried any and thought they might be a good fit for a Jazzmaster of this style...so when looking for Alnico 2 sets i ran across a set of Gotoh "HB Classic Alpha" humbuckers and was intrigued so i said, why not, they were just under a hundred bucks for the set...they're Japanese made and i've always thought they made great hardware like tuners, etc so I thought i'd give them a try...i have not had a chance to install yet, they're sitting here on my desk now...hopefully this weekend i'll get a chance...i hope this helps...cheers!@@TedLevinSpaceCadet
@@darklight4815 Hey thanks for the feedback! I just ordered a Seymour SH-4 for the bridge. Heard one in a jag and sounded pretty meaty. Let me know what you think of the Gotoh. I have two Squire JM 40 yr anniversary models, one in drop C and the other in drop B, maybe I’ll throw one in the other one. Nice to have tonal variety. Recently got a Woodrite Warlord I keep in drop Bb and it just kills🤘 Just have always loved the look of the offsets.
@@TedLevinSpaceCadet right on! That's awesome...yeah I seem to always throw a JB in the bridge as my go-to so I wanted to try something a little different on this one...I'll let you know how it works out,and yes offsets absolutely rule..I eventually wanna get a more traditional style Jazzmaster
🤘💀🤘
finished installing the alnico 2 Gotoh's a little while ago and i must say,i'm quite pleased...i think it has far more character now....those actives that came in it are actually really good pickups and i understand the "modern" metal crowd they were trying to sell to with that setup but that's not exactly what i wanted out of this guitar, i have other guitars that do that sound...so now i do believe i've got what i wanted...well worth a purchase in my opinion for the Gotoh's...i approve.@@TedLevinSpaceCadet
Where there any bass guitars or did I miss them?
Will have to do a bass video!
Have had a great time with a Jackson JS32T Rhoads, only problem is the pickups SUCK (at least in mine) they squeal really bad, probably the only thing I’m going to need to swap out on it. Got it for a good deal from GC brand new for like $220.
Also, those CV Jazzmasters are fucking phenomenal and highly recommend them.
Really?!? I was just looking at one of those to fill the pointy guitar want haha
@@FuzzlordEffects Yup, it’s unfortunate how bad they squeal with lots of fuzz and distortion but the fretwork and neck feel amazing.
Once upon a time, Iwould always say an HSS Mexican strat is a great budget option for ____ genre music. Really didnt matter, but even those are alittle pricey today as well!
What are your thoughts on a Gretsch Jet Hardtail?
Rad guitars!!
Yamaha Revstar is pretty solid for doom also
Great addition to the list!
Super expensive tho
@@claesvanoldenphatt9972 They start at 550 USD new.
I'd add the Yamaha RGX TT Drop 6 to the list. 26 1/4 scale, mine has 11-64 strings and it plays like a normal guitar in B or C standard, no floppy strings.
Personally, I think the Ibanez AX120s are a good option. I was in a band with a guy who had one and it sounded great. You can get them often for under $300 and a lot of them have nice color schemes, like a green finish with a tortoise shell pickguard.
Squier Super Sonics are cool. The J Mascis Jazzmaster also.
The Kurt Cobain Jaguar, or Jagstang, set up in C is super sweet, if you have the money for it.
Love the J Mascis Jazzmaster!
Epiphone G310 works great for me. A step up from the special 2. I am a unapologetic noise maker. Not a musician. My noise is at D standard.Somtimes drop C. 🤘🤠🤘
Anyy opinions on doom metal bases (other than "just get a P bass")?
Epiphone Thunderbirds & Embassy, I personally really like using a jazz bass.
Epiphone SG pro used ($300), pop on some heavy strings down tuned of course. Fuzzlord Octave Boost in front of a Big Muff (many versions), Swollen pickle or Proco Rat2 with an amp that has at least one 12" speaker or more and you should be pissing off the neighbors for sure. 👹👺💀 😁
Baritones? Also, Harley Benton from Thomann?
Epiphone flying BEES!🐝😂👍
An Ibanez gax30 is another good option Jason
Good call!! 🙏
Those Amazon specials coming out with stainless steel frets wud be a good'un for a noob.
I got an EART semi acoustic- it's not a classic style for Doom- but once I get sum albico 8 pups in her- i'm sure it'll rock.
One my fave Doom'rs is a really old Epiphone LP stylee- Says made in Korea but my luthier told me the bits were Japanese
I put some Dimarzio Super Distortions in her. Middle pup is set to blend & is an old Gotoh.
I got better guitars of course- but hotrodded junkers are so fun to play.
Do bass next!!
Rad idea!!
@@FuzzlordEffects that'd be awesome
ahhhhh my beloved Doom Metal ad Funeral Doom...
lately beem using my Black Custom SG EPI i recommended for a great good not so expensive SG, also waiting for a Black Custom Les paul By EPI i got around 300$ at the GC online store the other day
i only like the Customs when it comes Epiphone Guitars
other than that i will always prefer just Gibson
on the record my Ebony Double cutaway Gibson is awesome for my Doom Metal music
I got my LTD viper 400M for $300 from Music go round
I suggest used DBZ guitars, they were the brand Dean Zelinsky started between Dean and his current Zelinsky guitars. They were very popular when they came out but there was internal politics that caused the brand to implode. I have a Korean made Royale model and its the PERFECT doom guitar (fender scale, dark hot-rodded humbuckers, unique and classy design that's not a blatant rip off)
You definitely ruin the prices of the T-60 lol but I still love ya haha
sorry haha!
