Can't believe the people stood by as the government took away our ability to finally talk to our cats. Horrible. The greatest tragedy of the show.
...maybe they didn't. The humans are gone in this world. Why? Maybe they fought back, and the Dirty Bird didn't like that.
Don't forget catl is a thing
@@theuncalledfor The state probably killed all the rebels, just like the state does irl.

Nobody's nipples are safe now!
wrong. everyone is rabbit crazy.
It is funny to think that the aliens may have given all of humanity the ability to possible live forever and animals complete consciousness, but it was the fact that humans liked killing and eating animals and possibly eachother so much they attempted to reverse things and ruined it all
Not surprised, it reminds me of Cream by David Firth where a scientist develops a substance that has the power to improve peoples lives drastically... that of course leads to the global elites to destroy it and the creator due to it threatening their hegemony.
No, I think was the United States mainly because if there is no constant war and constant consumption, then what’s the point.

Reminds me of a joke my native friends told me when I was a kid: A bunch of natives are sitting around one winter having a contest to see who can tell the most ridiculous tall tale. One says he caught a sturgeon as big as his boat with a toothpick and his long hair, another tells about bagging a moose as big as a house, another says that's nothing! He caught a bear as big as a dinosaur with only one bullet. On and on, more and more absurd. Until there's a knock on the door and outside is a white man in a suit. He says, "Hi there! I'm from the Government of Canada and I'm here to help you."
Naturally, he won first place.
China would be much much worse.

I love how this story makes SENSE of the "this world is populated by talking animals" setup that we just hand-wave in so many stories. That it has an explanation. The animals being given intelligence from an alien entity also nicely explains why so many of them are borderline insane.
My beaver intelligence came from beyond. I use it to craft riddles of which others are not fond.

Once again Nil endears themselves to me by being enigmatic, creepy, gross, silly and charming all at once
@@LostInPhilly89 *themself. Nil has they/them pronouns :)
@@LostInPhilly89 They are literally referred to as they/them in the series. Whether you believe it works grammatically or not is irrelevant (which, spoiler alert, it does.) However, people like you don’t want to be educated. So I guess that’s really all there is to say.

@@PipoTechyon I'm not sure it's totally necessary to police pronouns for a fictional alien, just sayin'
@@Alex-gp7wg "police" is strong language, that was a friendly correction at most. and one that OP took, so you're the only one who has any problem with it.
"Do not be afraid, the United States is here" is a bone-chilling sentence.
What a spooky story to chill your bones
It's why the phrase "I'm from the government and I'm here to help" has a negative connotation to it whenever you hear it, they usually have ulterior motives that will only benefit them in the long run.
“The most terrifying words in the English language are: I'm from the government and I'm here to help.”
Great series. I do like how the CIA reveal kind of felt like a joke, but has actually managed to be a seamless part of the story, in that it's defunct tech from a previous era.
I still believe that the CIA is what connects this series to both the Vulo and Detective Heart of America universes.
Considering that the CIA is known for overthrowing/exiling/executing/couping countless democratic, liberation, and environmental movements accross the globe to replace with American interests over the past century and to this day... the CIA being the ones from humanity to hijack the attempt to bring peace to the world in order to preserve the status quo is actually the most realistic thing that could happen with the series. I was taken aback at first then went... no... this is right.
Every film cow creation feels like a joke at first. Then you get used to it. But agreed, the CIA reveal felt like breaking the fifth wall, although I have no clue what the fifth wall is.
Oh my god, Nil... He was shocked by his own strength of character after all this time. He truly saved the park after all.
literally sobbing over it lol
Shadowstone Park is absolutely one of Jason Steele's best works.
I'm glued to this series, I have no idea where it's going, every reveal just raises so many more questions
Agreed! How the mystery is slowly revealed to us is so enthralling. Can't wait to learn more!
Weird question: Ava mentions tinnitus. In previous episodes, when animals driven berserk by the stone signal were on screen, you can hear a ringing sound. Is that meant to be diegetic? Did Lark hear the ringing sound too? Is what Ava thinks is tinnitus a consequence of just wandering through a world flooded with the signal of a mind-shattering death weapon and she's just never noticed because she always has the music on?
Or is it because she keeps firing a gun without ear protection?
The ultimate reveal of Ava playing music because she has tinnitus is great. I mean, she does use a gun a lot and, since her arms are shorter than a human's, the noise is closer to the head so it makes sense. Just made her more iconic and relatable.
Oh, also the less important reveal that the United States is the ultimate villain because of humanity's obsession with control but was that really a surprise to anyone?
The "Containment Zone" being marked is right next to the border of the park meaning this has happened before but the animals kept their minds?
And the crystal? I can only begin to guess what that is? Is it Nil's body mutated by time as to why they might glean offense from it being referred to as That Thing? Is it Gaia, the soul of the planet that the sinister deity (the CIA) is fighting? And what will happen now that the process was interrupted? A million answers and yet a billion questions.
On the non lore side this episode is just feels different and amazingly made. The visuals, the music and dialogue are all on point. I suppose it's just that this episode was a lot more dynamic and intense while the previous ones were more calm and focused on dialogue and mystery so it really stood out.
Regarding the containment zone: the previous marks are from neighboring zones, caused by neighboring stones. The reason it's dangerous to leave Shadowstone Park is because it's surrounded by areas that have already fallen.
@@filmcow So theoretically, at some point in the past, someone in Shadowstone's zone might of looked up and seen a giant rock yelling "DO NOT BE AFRAID" in a neighboring zone?
@@filmcow So you are saying, the border never kept the insane animals "out" of the park but actually kept them INSIDE while the park is the actual outside? Gosh the missdirection O-O
Got tinnitus last year, so I kinda hate that I can relate to Ava. Still a fun reveal in the series, tho. I guess the fans' purpose was also to block Ava's tinnitus.
@@danrope9897 I've had tinnitus most of my life and it sucks! As for the fans, that was a complicated method of finding and signaling the ship's entry systems.
“What’s a human!?” Best line ever

@@KreshWC castlevania reference?
@@LavaDracovania - No, definitely not. What an odd stretch to make.
Interesting that there aren't any human ghosts.
Binky just coming in to be the best character in the series wth
Okay, so I was pretty close I think with my theories on the previous episodes: Aliens came down, imbued sentience into all animals and made it so they could survive with anything as a food source, but humans saw the aliens as invaders that made animals conspire against them, so the CIA took over the aliens ships. I have no clue how the ghosts fit into this though.
there could just be ghosts
Ghosts just casually existing is a pretty common theme in filmcow series
@@admiralrhino4049 exactly. need i remind you of filmcow’s seminal work “The Ghost House”.
The ghosts are probably AI memories saved by the ships.
@@kiapor99 Problem being that we known the ghosts are related to the aliens since Pecan couldn't see them until they entered the ship.
AAAAH! THAT ENDING IS AGONIZINGLY SUSPENSEFUL! How dare you, Jason Steele?! This is going to bother me until the next one!
This is the most relatable sentiment ever.
@@mrfivegold I'm not certain, but I think I heard Jason Steele say in last night's stream that this is not the end. I think it may be the end of "The Fall of Shadowstone," but there's gonna be another chapter to the story. Now, if someone could confirm this please? Lol
@@mrfivegold This cannot be the conclusion because nothing was concluded. The main threat still exists and the main characters are still alive - either thing has to end to be a "conclusion".
What next one? Heheh...
i love how the episode 6 set up the (pretty plausible) theory that ava uses the music as a means of letting people know where she is (and thus basically disappear whenever she’s not playing it), only for it to turn out that it’s just to help her deal w tinnitus. because yeah, that makes just as much sense and it’s a pretty funny anticlimax after so many details from previous episodes had payoff that was important to the lore
Fantastic episode, I especially liked the introduction of Binky
Blinky has been in the park the whole time
@@pacotaco1246
You mean Blinky the platypus? Yeah. He's been laying low ever since the Shadowstone started moving. What I wanna know is how Binky the peacock came back.
It's fascinating how it all comes together... go back and watch early episodes and see how it's all so well thought up in advance.
Just did it today
I always rewatch the series before every new episode. This series has great rewatchability.
I was really expecting Episode 10 to be the end, but now it looks to be a new beginning.
"Politics is when you say you are going to do one thing while intending to do another. Then you do neither what you said nor what you intended."
Shadow Stone is a mature masterwork. It deserves a far wider audience.
Each episode leaves me more fascinated than the last!
Also, by god, it's worse than we could have ever imagined.
I just want to add that the high school band kid in me's heart dropped as the Sousa began playing. Oh, the dreaded and loathed Sousa!
I don't know if this is the end, but I love this series. Post apocalypse is always interesting because of the somber overtone that only the audience can see.

Caaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaarl
Carl’s what happened. He killed, ate, summoned meat vortexes, opened portals to collect white baby hands, and released meat dragons to the world
It was Henry Kissinger. He managed to get out of that book from Myst by fusing his mind with the CIA's email system, and became a living god in the process
@@DrFoggyPants Jason has probably repeated more times than can be counted that this has *nothing* to do with Llamas with Hats or Charlie the Unicorn. It is it's own universe, he just has a preference for apocalyptic worlds
IT ALL MAKES SENSE NOW
Twist _intro!?!_ This is freaking _awesome!_
The beginning where the shadowstone starts to lift instead of falling a little bit was insanely scary especially with the music
My word. That certainly was a Fall for the Shadowstone! Park!
2:30
Okay so the timestamp isn't exactly right but i love this little reaction right here.
It's so perfectly primed to make you think binky's gone nuts or the ships making everyone go crazy, but then
"Oh binky, you haven't changed at all!" "Agh! Don't say that!"
The perfect way to just immediately establish that no binky has in fact not changed at all this is just binky being binky
Honestly, since the frederator series ended I was desperate for more of this series, it really managed to be gripping, charming and mysterious. I've been following Filmcow since the beginning and Jason really manages a style that is remarkably unique.
Comical, pithy and with enough twists to frazzle the mind. I can only guess where it leads... 🤔🤔🤔🤔
I genuinely thought the CIA thing was a joke, and yet it ended up giving even more context to the lore of this story and made everything make more sense in a … painful and hilarious way.
Goodness,I adore this series so much
Holy cow!! Binky lives!!!
Also another brilliant episode
The sheer beauty of the rock crystallizing blew me away. Really hoping this isn't the end for Lark and friends. I've grown so attached to all of them.
One hell of a reveal this time around.
So the aliens arrived on Earth and made all animals sentient and peaceful. Humanity didn't like that, and the CIA took control of the alien ships, reverted the changes and created containment zones for the sentient animals before the ships shut down and crashed. This particular ship crashed upright, which is why the other "Shadow Stone" parks have the rocks flat. That's also why everywhere outside of the parks is bloody and meaty; reverting the changes must've made everyone feral and now -- ironically -- only the quarantine zones are safe.
My question is why did the quarantine around Shadow Stone fail? Was it just a matter of the effect wearing off over time or did something specifically happen? And now that the ship reactivated and created new barriers, is the park safe again?
And what was the purpose of giving Lark, Eva, and now Pecan the ability to communicate with ghosts?
But, my most pressing question of all, is this the series finale??
Doesn't seem like the final. Nothing is resolved yet - plus we just got shown these stones so there is even new intrigue.
Here’s how I understand why animals started going savage
Way back when nil and the other captains stop the humans plan by forcing the ships to “discharge all their energy” with no power the ship’s stopped working and fell to the ground
But the ship’s have solar batteries so they’ve been slowly turning on again. As they do they start trying to perform whatever programming they were running, namely the cia thing, but since they still don’t have much power they only effect a few at a time.
I found this series a few weeks ago and I just love it! The characters, story all of it.
So everything comes full circle, yeah? Darius's line of "I should have stayed in my sad place," could probably be felt by anyone who's ever experienced depression.
There must be a lot of oil underneath Shadowstone Park.
I felt real horror when the shadowstone lifted
It's like Lost but it actually has interesting twists and clever writing. Also there are clear motivations for what people are doing and why they are doing it. So it's not like Lost.
These are the things im waiting to see again before it ends:
Gloves. When is Gloves coming back and does he ever go back to his normal form?
Also the mouse from episode 4. What did he want to tell Lark and what was the meaning of the rock flashing 7 times?
We havent seen Crush in a while so I dont know what ever happened to her and would like to see her come back too. And I want to know more about what the border in the park is.
I also wanted to see something actually happen to the shadowstone so I was not disappointed when it just started lifting into the air. Also was cool to see Binky
I'm assuming the mouse, like Ava, has also seen the other ships activate and wanted to warn Lark, not knowing that Ava was already in the know and more capable of taking care of it.
I, too, am curious about dear Gloves! How have his transformations been going??
Relno the Story Keeper is gonna have a field day with this one
I just found this series a few days ago and was super unhappy that my journey ended here, but then I realized this was posted 2 weeks ago. There is still hope for closure.
yep theres also going to be another arc :D
This is now the rise of shadow stone park
I’m just waiting for this series to blow up. This is one of your greatest works and it’s sad seeing so few people are actually getting to experience it.
Great work as always Jason
Binky only has a few moments of screen time but he's already a great character
Gotta admit this is one of my favorite series on youtube right now :P I love it
Was just thinking about this series at work. Once I’m back home, new episode is waiting for me. Perfect.
This is your best series. So good, every episode adds something to the story.
The story and writing have been so well done, it's a complete joy of a series. The answer to the mystery is especially satisfying and funny, even when balancing the tragedy of it all. You guys have made something very special, and I can't wait to see how it concludes.
Been here since 2011 man, good to see you’re still making these wonderful cartoons ❤️
I seriously finished this episode in double fist pumps - me and my brother love watching these together, and the pay off for the story thus far has been so rewarding. Thanks for sharing your story, dood! I appreciate it, and it brings a lot of joy to me and my brother.
I think this was one of the best episodes so far. The reveal that the Gaia being the CIA was as impeccable as it was hilarious. From what I can piece together, the alien species Nil came from came to Earth and gave every single animal human-equivalent intelligence, thus leveling the playing field -- so to speak -- for the purpose of eradicating hunting, as 2,147 stated to Lark. The humans were uncomfortable no longer being at the top of the animal kingdom, and the American CIA somehow hijacked the alien ships and has been using them to give the animals their normal intelligence back via marking special zones. Jason Steele stated in the comments to the video:
"Regarding the containment zone: the previous marks are from neighboring zones, caused by neighboring stones. The reason it's dangerous to leave Shadowstone Park is because it's surrounded by areas that have already fallen."
This means that the border to the park which Lark exiles the feral animals over is NOT encircling the park, but rather an area OUTSIDE of other circles. When an animal is inside a circle, they return to being their normal feral self. Since humans are naturally intelligent (needing no help from aliens) they are probably unaffected by the zones, if there are in fact any left.
That being said, I have no idea what the strange glowing crystal is, or what Darius has been talking to Nil about. All I know about the crystal is that Tumble the mouse knows about it, and could maybe help Lark and Ava with his crystal studies. Also it can apparently take down the alien ships, meaning either the CIA created them to hijack them for themselves and just forgot to turn them off, or there is another party that has been creating crystals to shoot down the already CIA-hijacked ships.
Also, Lark asking "what are humans?" is so funny. I love this show.
Pretty cool when the stone rises into the sky and starts ringing and producing what looks like an A.T. field from Eva
This must mean The C.I.A must have integrated another A.I. program in the ships systems to overtake it but since it was made by the C.I.A it doing all this is just running on a repeated loop when protocol is met which is why it's acting this way, of course since this is protocol program on looping commands it has no idea its creators are long gone.
It’s rare that a CZcams video will make me click instantly
Thanks for this :) .
I'm so glad this series has come so far and is still going.
The way that I have no idea whats happening but I am LOVING it
This series is perfect. This man cannot produce anything but heat 🔥🔥
Man this is such an awesome series, I love your work
So this whole series is about the government pulling strings in the background and how people can feel helpless about it? Like the animals forced to just go on with their lives despite their being a looming threat (in this case, a giant stone watching over everyone)? I think I got out of it with one of the animal's speeches about wanting to do something even if it wouldn't mean anything or how the two birds choose to get into other people's business and makeout. I feel like the animals are an analogy of how we're really caged up or something. All thanks to Kia.
Jason Steele you and your team always work hard for these top notch videos

I’m presuming Binky (the peacock) experiences time in a nonlinear manner.
They're just being pretentious
This really feels like final episode material, I hope theres one after but I'm not sure if there will be!
I don't think this is it. This is the definitely the climax, but there's still the resolution.
Ok theory
That crystal is part of the computer, the "Thing" as darius puts it.
During the crash it was ejected but remained in remote contact with the ship, at least enough contact to allow it to function.
This is unique as all the other ships landed rather then crashing, and as such this is the only place this event could happen.
What i think is Gaia used the connection with the computer to attack the ship directly, overwritting the Cia program and transforming the ship into a new transmitter.
I expect the safe zone has now drastically increased in size, and many previusly feral animals have returned to sanity.
I don't think I've ever clicked on a notification faster.
Jason, you are a master of your crafts and we appreciate you for it
I am suddenly getting the feeling that this is set sometime after "Detective Heart of America - The Final Freedom"

I actually thought that this was some sort of sequel or spiritual successor to Lamas with hats, and that this all takes place after Carl caused the apocalypse and killed himself after realizing Paul was dead, and that the animals were able to find sanctuary in small pockets of life that happens to have a giant rock in the middle.
