Title: I spent 400 hours restoring this 1930´s cabinet
#howtorestore #furniturerestoration - Jak na to + styl
This video graphically demonstrates why well made furniture is so expensive and why it lasts so long with proper care. Your understanding of old cabinetry techniques and ability to replicate them is beyond remarkable. This project was truly a masterpiece in the original sense of the word. How beautiful!
You are by far the best restorer I have ever seen. The sheer amount of work that went into the restoration of this amazing piece is astonishing. The endless sanding and the painstakingly difficult refinishing show the amount of care you put into your work. I can't wait to see the next item you bring back to life.
Agreed, I never miss a video. I watched plenty on CZcams and this amazing craftsmanship is by far the best. I learn a lot for my miniature work, for example I purchased tiny clips to hold to together wood pieces freshly glued or steam wood to bend it. Small things but these videos are so inspiring.
Wait till you see what the guys who restore pipe organs have to do!
There is an older man who is also a meticulous craftsman; but I can't remember his name😮😮 does an t body know who I mean???
Yes I thought the same too, best restorer.
@@user-yq2rn2hy8pThomas Johnson probably.
I bet his dad or grandfather taught him these great skills. Always a fantastic job. I’m an 85 year old great grandmother that has watched and enjoyed these videos.
I've never seen someone build functional cabinetry from a stack of boards to the finished piece... this was an education in itself!! My grandfather was a woodworker who did almost everything by hand; he would have been amazed to see what miracles power tools -- in the hands of a master -- can accomplish.
My only suggestion for your videos is to explain at each step WHAT you're doing and WHY, and give us the name of the power tool you're using. Instead of seeing cabinet-makers as magicians I can now appreciate them as artists -- the builder has put his soul into this piece and it shows!
This guy is a YT resto legend.
No, YT's restoration legend is Thomas Johnson. www.youtube.com/@johnsonrestoration
Absolutely amazing!

Both brilliant at what they do
Absolutely Stunning craftsmanship. Well done.
Ahti, I was wondering what big job you were working on because you have not posted a video for a while. This is definitely a fantastic magnum opus. What really impressed me was not only your skill and creativity, which is apparent in everything you do, but also your knowledge of the original construction methods which allowed you to build the entire bottom of the cabinet in a period-compatible way. Can’t tell you how wonderful it is to see a master craftsman (an artist!) like you at work. Many thanks for taking the extra time to film everything and sharing it with us.
I remember that Ahti’s workshop was flooded not that long ago. I’ve wondered how he was doing afterwards. Maybe that’s why he hadn’t posted in a while. I’ve missed seeing his genius work.
Whoever made this beautiful cabinet in the first place would be so proud of you. You completely understand the love and dedication that goes into these pieces!
Boy, I’ll bet your customer was thrilled to get this. You are an artist!
I sure would be thrilled!
I can't help but wonder how much this piece cost the client.
Even if he charges 4 euros per hour it would be an expensive piece @@NoOne-bp2jw
Ahti, this was by far your most comprehensive piece and that you covered every single detail shows that you are truly a master craftsman. I loved watching you turn a mere piece of wood into something that seems so easy and yet I know you took great care in creating the new pieces. No detail was too small, No effort was too great. From the beautiful carving to the glass to the final finish. Simply stunning and a real privilege to watch you work. Thank you for sharing.
Shows he has real love for what he does ! Rare Find - Real Love
I so agree! Very well put!
I’m completely blown away! This is such a beautiful piece. Watching your masterful work is sheer poetry. 🤓
Watching a real cabinet maker work with real wood (versus fake wood) and all the machines he needs to reproduce what was all made by hand 100 years ago is a real eye opener. The piece was not cheap when it was new, therefore it has lasted this long. Most of us will only ever see something this fine on a CZcams video. Thank You for sharing this amazing video with us.
Ahti, I forgot to tell you, we here in Canada love your sense of humour. You make me laugh and that’s good medicine. 😂🇨🇦👍🏼
I stopped my work on my current landscape painting when I saw how amazing an artist you are and watched the entire video. This work makes my heart sing!! Amazing!
After watching hours upon hours of your restorations, still amazes me how good it looks every time.
Such a pleasure seeing you work! Your clients are very fortunate to have access to such a skilled craftsman.
I have no words for your ability to restore, rebuild and create. You did such a beautiful job on both the restoration and creating a new period bottom.
It’s as if the customer gave you only two small pieces of wood from the original piece and you turned those pieces into something better than the cabinet was in the beginning. What a beautiful outcome. What a true craftsman you are!
I am speechless on how talented you are and thank you for showing us all how a cabinet is made from scratch. Very very well done
Had I not watched this entire video (glued to my iPad) and had seen this piece after it was finished, I wouldn’t be at all able to tell the old from the new. And I hope that you were well paid for your efforts.
BEAUTIFUL!! I would've watch you working on this for the whole 400 hrs!!
When I see the notification for a new AT video, it’s a good moment. Given myself a little taster, now I shall have to wait till later to be able to enjoy it in full, can’t wait. Really is one of the very best content providers for restorations. Just so damn good!
Ahti, you are absolutely BRILLIANT. Half the cabinet is missing? No problem, you just re-create it from scratch! A true master at work!
...Authentic! AT is a marvel.
Art Nouveau? It has a proper proportion, substantial girth, lovely hardware and a feature I've never seen on anything- carved arches. So worthy of being brought back to whole.
Cheap furniture from the modern era is unrepairable, and will not endure the test of even one hundred years, but pieces like this will live, with the help of men such as AT, well into the future...A connection to our past. Thank you for letting us watch.
That is a beautiful work of art. When watching people repair items you kind of forget that they must know and be able to do all the knowledge that the original maker had. I had forgotten all the different wood joints and how to make. My grandfather would not be impressed with me at all. He would have been able to spend a happy time with you talking wood. He loved wood.
Thank you for showing us this. As I said, it is beautiful and it will bring its owner many years of pleasure.
That is so beautiful. I cannot imagine how it feels to do what you did. Wonderful job.
Oh how I wish I could have watched all 400 hours of this restoration!! I am in awe of your hard work, and dedication to these beautiful old pieces. Your skills are second to none! The end result left me with tears running down my face. How incredible this cabinet turned out!!! Ahti, it was an honor to watch this video, and all of your previous ones. I can't wait for your future videos. I know they will be incredible, too!
Какая красота...Такую мебель вряд ли купишь теперь в магазине...Просто чудо...
Exquisite! The color is warm without imposing. I would be so proud to have a piece of this quality.
I've said it before, but you are a world-class talent. I learn so much from each video! Congrats on this wonderful build
At a loss for words. You are truly talented!
Oh my goodness! What a phenomenal job! This piece is absolutely stunning! Your client will be over the moon! 😊❤
Stunning piece of art! Watching your process was fascinating. Glad the algorithm randomly sent me here.
That’s the most amazing restoration I’ve ever seen. No one looking at the finished product would know how much work and skill went into
restoring this beautiful piece…..unbelievable!
'TMC Restoration' is doing pretty good .....
Okay, now this video blew my mind! I don't think I can come up with enough superlatives to describe the quality of your work on this piece: amazing? Astonishing? Fabulous? Outrageous? Did some lucky, lucky client really get this beautiful cabinet? I hope you got to keep it... It actually belongs in a museum. Such artistry. Such perfection.
Couldn't agree more ❤❤
Have you ever thought about living inside this piece? Unbelievable work!
Wow! Your client must've been blown away! Magnificent!
You make working with a chisel seem so easy. I also like the creative ways you use your saws, router and lathe.
It's all about the sharpening. Really sharp tools are amazing.
I'm still watching but I want to leave a comment before I forget, about the drawer construction. I've never seen it done that way, with the bottom almost like a panel door. This whole piece is a gorgeous feast of woodwork. 💜
Those that came before you that were master craftsmen/cabinet makers are smiling down on you. Your skill, talent, passion, and genuine love and appreciation for these pieces are always evident. Thank you for all that you do and the education you share with us like-minded people around the world who also value and love these beautiful antiques. Absolutely stunning.
You are truly a master at your craft !
I love your work and your attention to detail.
I appreciate how gently you put the pieces together… Thank You for showing us all how the work should/is done.
Blessings to You. 😊
Lots of things I've never seen before! That is the best made, most solid construction for drawers I've ever seen. And the curved, heavily beveled glass!
Simply beautiful work on this, both in construction and design. ❤
At the final reveal I said “Oh WOW!” out loud. This was truly a labour of love, but what an outcome. That is a magnificent piece of furniture, restored to perfection worth the many hours of skilled work.
You are truly a master craftsman.
Какая трудоёмкая работа, но результат потрясающий. Мастер есть мастер. Уважаю и лайкаю. Спасибо за красоту.
Sometimes, I wonder how you can let the piece go. Inside and out, lovely. The finishing details were incredible. ❤❤❤
Wow 😳 unbelievable!! Your level of talent is astronomical! 5 stars for sure!!⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
I am so jealous of the person that will enjoy that masterpiece in their house
One hour and a half? Can't wait! :) Thanks for another (great for sure) video.
Работа, как всегда- высший класс!!! Я давно ничего подобной красоты не видела не то что воочию, но и на ютубе. Моё почтение!
I'm impressed by your knowledge. The dove tail jig was a master stroke.
Hello all! 💥🤗💥
I am an "Old-fart" in mah 70s. I can not explain why or how, but
when I approach a piece of wood furnature, I can 'sense' the feelings
that went into the making of the furniture. I just KNOW that the man
we see in this video truly loved this effort he made producing this
wonderful work of art.
Mr. Provider, THANK YOU!
I am so glad to see you back in business after the flood.
Your hard work is shining through...simply amazing.
ABSOLUTELY THE MOST BEAUTIFUL THING IVE EVER SEEN❣️
Everything you did was stunning and absolutely perfect. Priceless!!
OMGOODNESS! Absolutely magnificent! Just breathing.
What a beautiful piece. You Sir are a YT legend. The God of resto.
Hey, I follow you for quiet a time now and I wanted to say that you restore every piece beautifully. But this one: man, you know how to remain patient and trust the process. 3 years, 400 hours... awesome. That time was well spended. I hope your customer enjoys this masterpiece. Greetings from Germany. :)
Given the hard and stunningly admirable work you did on this cabinet, I don't think this process qualifies as a restoration but it's a remake.
You're a Master Craftsman and your videos are always a pleasure to watch. Great job 🙌🏽
My granpa did this kind of work. It’s so satisfying to see the finished piece 😊
You literally rebuilt this piece from the ground up. It is half new, half restored. No wonder it took so long. It looks absolutely beautiful.
Wow. I have to say, this is an absolute masterpiece! Every detail is perfectly executed. I love the care you put into each job, and the patience and perseverance to see each project through. Thank you for sharing this with us! :)
A wizard and an artist at work . beautiful
Не перестаю удивляться. Глаз-алмаз, руки золотые. А сколько нужно инструмента, приспособлений всяких, растворов, клеев и т д...
I didn’t pick up on what a massive piece this was until you were putting top/bottom together. What a beautiful piece
I have no words to express how beautiful the cabinet is.
Absolutly amazing job.
Bravo.
Greetings from Spain.
Your work room must be the envy of every creative person! I love seeing all the tools and what you can do with them. But your skills and knowledge!! OMG! I love watching you work. You are so inspiring Ahti!
That is truly beautiful. Thank you for showing us the process. You can see that 400hrs + went into that.
The time it took speaks to its beauty, practical design, and mostly to the thought, creativity, and plain old love of your craft. The level of precision you show with either hand or power tool is a joy to watch. The piece will dominate whatever room it is in.
Grace has said it well. Look outside, There is a line forming! All the best to you.
Many Thanks!
Wow, you've created such a beautiful piece of furniture. I'm sure that eventually this will become a vintage piece. Fantastic work as always and thank you for the upload.
Not just restoration but cabinetry too! Should buy stock in the company that makes those clamps - what an impressive result!
What an absolute master of professional work / restoration. A pleasure to watch, and I have saved to enjoy again, and again to make sure I have missed not one little detail. Thank you Sincerely, I’m in awe!

Someone said they were blown away…yep I agree. You’re a master craftsman for sure. Thank you for sharing this exquisite piece of restoration ❤
Absolutely incredible! Both a flawless restoration as well as a brilliant new build. Easily one of the most impressive projects I've seen.
I love it when you have 50 clamps on a project! So cool
Потрясающе, как всегда! Восторг, удивление, уважение, благодарность. Успехов и здоровья Мастеру. СанктПетербург
Truly beautiful work. I hope that you feel that the time was worth it because I certainly do. Fantastic job!
Wonderful restoration! I'm astonished!!!

There are craftsmen and then there are MASTER CRAFTSMEN, you Sir are a Master
Holy moly! It a gorgeous piece. I admire your dedication and really enjoyed this longer video ❤ Fantastic job!
Its been awhile since your last phenomenal restoration masterpiece... I wondered what you might be up to?....Now I know....This tops everything...INCREDIBLE!!! This truly exhibits the genius and the scope of your skills. Every minute detail added and captured in filming as well. We never see beautiful furniture like this in Australia...
Sent this to my son in law. He is an artisan. I knew he’d be interested! I loved this!!!
Absolutely world class, Athi. All i can say is: WOW.....stunning....👍👍👍👍👀👀👀👀👀👀
*_What an amazing piece! I have never seen anything like it. I can't imagine how much time went into restoring it, let alone your skill and talent. Bravo!_*
I was going to tell you how amazing it came out and what good decisions you made for the bottom cabinet, but since you did all that work I think you already know that. Sometimes a job like this tests your patience and your mind but once you see it finished you forget all that and only feel pride!
Those were the bet 400hrs spent because this is absolutely beautiful. Congratulations on a job well done.
Young man you are very very intelligent. What I would give to just stand back and watch you. I love making things
Beautiful job. Very nicely executed.
I’m absolutely addicted to your videos and the incredible amount of skills that you have in woodworking especially with old furniture is really second to none in my book, so thank you so very much for sharing your fantastic work with us! Lee from Tennessee!!
Speechless. I want to cry. What passes for cabinetry today is a joke. Stupendous job.....absolutely breathtaking!!!!
Stunning result. such skill. Thank you for your dedication over 3 years in making this piece of furniture look wonderful again. And putting this video together.
I am in awe of your work! You, sir, are a master craftsman! Absolutely beautiful work! Doesn't hurt to have the right tools and know how to use them, too! :)
This was such a treat to watch! Im so happy you shared so much of the detail work with us. I often look at the intricate designs from very old antique pieces that have lived in châteaux and wonder how long it must have taken to make them. I hope there comes a time where i can sqirrel myself away in a studio and build things that take years to make just for the joy of the process ❤
If this were not taped, I would not believe it. Beautiful to watch.
Really beautiful and a lot of work. Wonder if your customer realised what a gem he had found in both the cabinet and in you to restore it to the glory it deserves. Thanks for sharing
