It's shocking that you had to wait SIX weeks for a reply to your freedom of information request. What's worse is that they haven't even bothered to issue you an apology for their outrageous delay. Sadly, some of them are under the false impression that they don't have to answer to anyone. Keep up the good work holding these people to account.

Being the nerd that I am sometimes, and with 30 years in insurance in the UK, I have researched the law / insurance in the US ; it is very ambiguous, varies state by state, and seemingly varies by county within a state.
In the UK, it’s a lot clearer and all “self insured” by the government authorities.
I wish the first amendment equivalent was as clear in the UK; having done my first audit in the UK recently, I’m on a hilarious path of escalating my question about the right to film in public; having gone through town, county and police commissioner, I am now seeking clarity through the prime minister. It’s ridiculous (both what I’m doing, and the lack of clarity to my simple question).

These public service bums. But who else would hire these people? They get hired to get out of the way of regular people until they have to deal with regular people.
The worst part about all of this is that what theyre doing is a actual crime and even though theres plain evidence of them violating it, nobody faces any form of discipline whatsoever.

That is an interesting question. What happens when the government doesn’t provide you with your freedom of information act request in the allowed time required by State & Federal law. What happens after that? Great question
They should be fined for everyday beyond the time limit. Theres alot of Federal laws without any teeth or punishment for state and city violations.

I work for a LGA, and it's frustrating that Gloria won't acknowledge that she should have returned your call, even if to say arrangements had changed and the chief himself would follow up with you. She would have been honoring her word, but now she's lost credibility. It's poor customer service to leave someone hanging. She's definitely a participant in the run around you're receiving.
