- The weather was right for an awesome opening day in New York. We just had gotten over a foot of snow and had more on the way for the evening. We knew it was going to be a good night to sit on some food! We had been hunting hard for a buck we call Bernie and we were hoping to see him on opening day of gun season.

When I bought my property upstate, the neighbor who isn’t a hunter who lives in Manhattan brought up his children to ride around their ATV’s opening day. I harvested a nice buck because they were pushing deer from riding around. I sent a text letting him know it was opening day and harvested a nice buck. For safety for his children to use helmets and wear blaze orange. I never had an issue with them after that on opening day.

We have a neighbor gun hunter that drives his truck through the woods all bow season. Right at prime time. Shoots his guns alot also.

Congrats on a great buck guys! Glad to see it pay off for you. I’ve been watching you guys since I stumbled across your vids last season.
I let a handful of nice bucks go last yr only to have every single one of them be killed by someone else this year - just how it goes sometimes. Then to top this season off, For the first time in my hunting career I actually had one of my neighbors family members (with his little boy) sneak in my field and shoot a big doe and one of the small 8s I was hoping to see make it through to next season. Yes it was on my property, no they didn’t have permission because he didn’t think I was home. I guess he felt it was better to ask for forgiveness first. I even went back to work after I had previously scheduled an entire wk off to hunt (we all know how tough that would be lol) but anyways…It’s settled, “shouldn’t” ever happen again and the reason I’m even writing this is because I, just like you guys, try to do things a certain way and it’s those other dirt balls that end up ruining it for everyone else. I’m soo glad you killed that buck instead of your neighbor… you guys definitely earned it. Stay safe and good luck in the future!!

awsome buck. something about them Kansas/ Nebraska deer. there such beautiful animals. Northern Oklahoma seems like they got the same looking deer also. the genetics in that part of the country is amazing. and I'm not even talking about the size of the antlers they get.

I enjoy watching you guys and your management! I’m originally from upstate NY saw the issues with “if it’s brown, it’s down” mentality. I now live in MI and hunt here and Ohio. Nice deer in both states…especially Ohio. It’s good to see you guys and other NY based CZcams channels managing these bucks.

The total mentality in Michigan. Impossible to grow nice bucks in upper Michigan. Management here is pitiful. Landowners here shoot all legal bucks. 😢. They give you two buck tags. Just sad. I always see several bucks, spikes four or six points. Never in twenty years anything bigger than a hundred inch eight. No wonder lots of hunters go out of state.

6:59 you know snowshoes are cheaper. Hunters of old used them and caught deer on the run because the snow was too deep to run in… even caught up to them and killed them with their knives ! True story… find old book “ 30 years in the life of a hunter .” It’s a great book about hunting in the 18th century. 10:07

No man. Its just what we did as kids and we've carried it into what we love to do now. Putting on that war paint with out dad in the morning before we went in the woods is a memory that will last forever. It welcomed us into the brotherhood. We will keep that alive for as long as we get the privilege of doing this!

Because we second guessed the shot after seeing the hair puff out a little back.... Being cautious so we did not spook the deer or boot him if the shot was not ideal. Smart hunting I guess would be the short answer to your question

Snowshoes work great in wisconsin you will be amazed how easy it is to walk to spots . I got the same problem when I hunted on a 40 on a dead end surrounded by public I would have 4 hunter on the edge and still kill the big bucks bitter sweat . They would call me in on false ground s to point the warden said next call will be harassment. The hunters thought I had all the deer funny most I kill came from public land a 9.5 year old that after field dressed weight 224lbs almost the 3 mark live weight and many 4yrs old and 3s don't huntbthere anymore but miss that area I called little Canada because it's cedar swamps and chocolate horns and mass plus age I had some bucks on cam up to we thinkn13 14 yrs old wolves can't get them all. Congrats on the year's of great bucks people can suck but that feeling when you drive pass the hunters with mossy horns they do the head shake 😉

In the south we have hunter harassment laws the he would be in jail doing that mess , so sorry for him doing that to you and trying to ruin your hunt;;;;;;

He is not aloud to do that call the game warden he is not aloud to harass you hunting that is a mistominor 1 he can to jail for doing that.
