Oh gosh, feeding syringe medication is hard for me. After three days of him on medication he started avoiding it, cause he knew what was coming.

I made homemade apple sauce without sugar and cover his syringe and he loved taking his medicine

did you do the burrito too? Bc l was thinking of adding banana on the syringe but l can’t do the burrito bc I can’t touch hls neck and the back of his head bc the doctor added some kind of oil and told me to leave it for 3 days

Vet: This one is banana flavoured, they'll love it so it'll be fine
    My rabbits: No ew

Ack, my rabbit actively avoids bananas. I put a banana in his enclosure and he avoids it.

Agh if only this video was out when I had my bunny! He hated when I had to give him his meds, sometimes he would bite me (which 10yr old me overdramatised 😂). But I was determined to give him his meds and every time I gave him his meds I would have to change the method, as he started to know what I did before giving him it! But as he got older he put up less of a fight, and ended up just taking it and moving on. But very useful tips anyway!

The moment my buns see a syringe they run and go hide in their hideyhole. lol.
I try to alternate which gets their meds first if they both need them, so neither feels too hard done by. lol and then I sit in the floor, place them between my legs so they can’t squirm back from the syringe and slowly squirt it into the side of their mouth. Then they get a dried banana chip and some dill and then thump at me and run away. lol
I’ve tried burritoing them but they panic so much more when I do that, than when I just leave them with all 4 feet on the floor.

My bunny is being squirmy… she is so stubborn and a feisty bunny… she has mild snuffles… vet prescribed her antibiotic that is not tasty.
This video is helpful… crossing my fingers for when I have to give her next dose of medication 🤞😉

Doing that with the towel is such a good idea, I have not thought of that before

Excellent and informative video especially regarding feeding them their medication without doing it upright so they don't choke. "Critical care" is such an important feed for them when they haven't emptied their bowels. We usually have one of us holding them in a towel like a burrito and the other doing the syringe feed in intervals. I just love the way you love your bunnies❤

After I got my bunny neutered I had to do that, haha she wasn't really liking it. I think I gave it too fast also because I was nervous

I wish I had seen this video a week ago when my bunny was put on antibiotics! (similar to Ash's sneezing problem but full on snuffles was luckily avoided). After a couple of doses taking meds from the syringe like a champ, my bunny picked up on it so I got organic baby food (only ingredient are carrots) and dipped the syringe in it and got him to take it and never had to burrito wrap him :) I heard a little bit of pineapple juice or no sugar added applesauce works well too!

haha glad you showed it not being easy the whole time. 😅 I give my bunny 3 meds, twice a day for seizures so we put it all on a combination of treats and his pellets. He's extremely squirmy and gets too anxious when restrained.

Thank you for your video! One of my rabbits is sick and since Monday I need to give him medicine and sometimes force feed him. The first few times it was really easy but now it's just a big struggle. I try to be calm and sing to him so he calms down.
I tried the towel method without knowing exactly how to do it. Gonna try your way later!
Right now he has to get medicine 6 times a day, in the morning and evening he gets 4 different things and it's just so difficult and I feel so sorry.
But I can at least give him one without a siringe because it tastes good. Sometimes I try to sneak the other ones into him by putting it on herbs. He really really hates siringes...
