Join me on this informative and exciting journey as I share the ultimate herbal tincture-making guide to help you explore the wonderful world of herbal medicine. A Board-certified Master Herbalist with years of experience, I am looking forward to walking you through the step-by-step process of creating your own herbal tinctures. Whether you're a beginner or have some experience in herbal remedies, this video is perfect for anyone who wants to enhance their knowledge and skills and will provide you with invaluable insights, tips, and techniques to ensure you extract the maximum medicinal properties from various herbs.
In this video, I share how I harvested basil and oregano from my herb garden. Since my mullein wasn't ready to harvest, I used some dried mullein flowers I had purchased online. Together I created three herbal tinctures. To craft herbal tinctures of your own, get my Basic Herbal Tincture recipe here on my website: www.sweetherbinlivin.com/blog-1/basic-herbal-tinctures
BASIL is wonderful as a culinary herb. Traditionally used in pesto and tomato-based recipes, I use basil along with garlic in my "Roasted Green Beans" recipe. It's delicious! You can find that here: www.sweetherbinlivin.com/blog...
BASIL, or Sweet Basil, as I am using in this video, is also known for its health benefits. According to Healthline, Sweet Basil may help regulate healthy blood pressure, maintain balanced blood sugar, improve cholesterol and triglyceride levels, help with memory, and alleviate stress. They also report that it may help prevent certain cancers and can be used as an alternative to antibiotics. Which makes sense as Sweet Basil has anti-bacterial properties.
Mullein is well known in herbal circles for helping with respiratory issues. Mullein moves congestion and is helpful in moving chest congestion, nasal congestion, and lymphatic congestion. Mullein is very soothing and calming and helps relax muscles and reduce inflammation as well. It's soothing to the lungs and it has been traditionally used for those dealing with bronchitis, tonsillitis, tuberculosis, and pneumonia.
Since the mullein wasn't ready to harvest from my herb garden, I used dried flowers in this herbal tincture. I got those here: amzn.to/3Rgyv6z
Oregano is the third herb I tinctured. Oregano is known to be rich in antioxidants as well as being anti-viral, antibacterial, antimicrobial, and antiseptic. It is an antifungal too. That's why I like to have Oregano on hand all year long, but especially in the winter when we are more likely to indulge in some not-so-healthy food choices. Hello, Thanksgiving and Christmas. Oregano is wonderful for helping the body fight the "cold and flu" and such.
The book shared in the video is "Practical Herbalism". It's a fantastic book and has a wealth of great information. amzn.to/45Z8DQO

I have never had to filter with the filter paper. Just curious why you want that? Is it just to remove only particles or is there another reason?

Yes, I just did one more filter to get the finer particles out. No other reason.
