Lived there from 1954 to 1985, Wirral used to be a nice place in the distant past as it has changed and not for the better [that applies to most places these days] Good video
Aye...used to love a paddle in New Brighton...kecks rolled up to knees...hankie squared with knots at four corners...on me ead to keep off sun...lad...braces loose round me waist....aye...those were the days...
Wow loved this. Thanks Mark. Funny though started watching this thinking I used to know someone called Mark Wyatt who lived in my Road when I was a kid. Realised you're that person. I lived opposite you at number 15 next to the passage way, Different house but still live there today. Fab film .
Used to live Wirral from 1947-1963, Buses used to run to New Brighton from in front of Bebington Station numbered 12, 51 & 55 ran from Port Sunlight Station to Park Royal and No 50 ran to Spital Crossroad and the No 58 ran all the way to Clatterbridge Hospital and came back round the triangle back to Spital Cross Road, the 64 was a great journey as was the 44 single decker....there was Crosville from Rock Ferry to Ellesmere Port, Chester and Helsby & Frodsham as well as Heswall and Neston with a single decker to Ellesmere Port thru Eastham and Hooton and also via Stoke & Stanney passing Chester Zoo en route to Chester. They all stopped in front of Odeon Cinema in front of Cathedral...I could write a book on the Wirral...
That was one of the best Wirral videos I've ever seen, very well edited. Greasby Junior School in appearance is like Brackewood Junior School in Bebington, probably built by the same buider in the early 1950s.
The days when you could swim in a lake, why can't you do that now?. Been to West Kirby a few times and it has a very snobby vibe about it, not surprising when you see all the million pound property prices. One of the most unfriendliest places I've been to.
Remember Britain's 'Women's Only' Golf Club with an all female commite. Wirral Ladies Golf Club. Happy Days when the ladies had the balls . Today it is renamed and more conventional.

Lived on the wirral all my life Birkenhead, great place for visiting the northwest and Wales and so on
Fond memories of a childhood from these photos, thanks
When my mother brought us back from unhappy evacuation in 1939, it was the sight of those blue buses that told me I was home.
Thanks for this. Brings back many happy memories of living on the Wirral from 1969-1995

Great video! I was born and bred on the Wirral from 1956 to 1983. I used to collect the bus numbers!

Fine shot at 1:05 of what looks like the Reina del Pacifico in the river
Wish petrol was still 69p a gallon. How times have changed.
For some reason I want a cup of Ovaltine.
Funny music

Video ruined with music that does not go with it!
It's all crack whores these days.
This music for the streets.
Terrible, intrusive, unpleasant music. Soz.
pity about the awful music
Awful music not even related to the content ruins this video.
