- Since I had all of the parts to do this, I decided to see if I can make this Downhill bike climb. This was just an experiment, and I'm most definitely not keeping this set-up. Thanks for Watching!

I always hear people say “get an enduro bike” but there is a reason people get dh bikes. 1. They have lots of travel 2. They just look sick 😂. I like the idea of a dh bike that can climb.
Up lifts the way forward!
i was climbing even with dh groupset 12-26 36t had no issues was bit harder but still fine recently got sram nx eagle due to really long rides uphill is much better but even old one wasnt that bad even if my condition is shit haha all that on specialized demo 8 2011. 😂 people will complain on anything today just because they cant doesnt mean its bad i hate fact people keep saying dh bike is so bad at climbing this n that blah blah forcing people to think dh bike will be overwhelming to ride… its really not i rode enduro bike side by side much more recent model honestly i barely noticed diffrence stop looking at internet for advice people are lost these days honestly…. get what you like i cant be happier sith dh bike and yet i almost got enduro because of internet lmao
and plus all that how can you say really heavy as i said 2011. demo was stock 17kg while most recent trek slash 8 is 15 wtf is with all these comments on dh bikes
@@lukabalta2398 I used to use my dh bike to commute to school as well as riding it on the trails. It had a very narrow gear range and I didn’t have the money to change it. I never had an issue with riding up hills as I got used to it really quickly. I recently swapped the dh bike (Nukeproof pulse comp 2015) for a decently upgraded enduro bike (Kona precept 150 2016) as I just didn’t use the dh bike to its full potential as I’m shit when it comes to jumps and really hard tech lol. I wanted something that I can ride casually on mellow trails. I do miss the dh bike though and I wouldn’t mind going back to it.
This is my dream.
I just love how the DH bike looks with those big badass front suspension and a wild frame design, but I always struggle when I want to ride it at non downhill track.
So changing the gear ratios are the way to go.
Me to
Me to
me 2
You should send that chain whip to global mountain bike networks “hacks and bodges”
Cooper Lockley mtb lol I should
@@DanielB4life yeah hopefully you would win aswell if you end up submitting it
now my dream has come true
ye legit i have a 10 speed dh bike but its shit in climbing idn why they dont just put climbing gears on a dh bike and just have the same highest gear just bigger lower gears so u can actualy climb over a easy damn hill like cmon
Hey man I think this is dope! Love the creativity bro!
Yeah, this was exactly what I was looking for. Had wondered if anyone had done this. Even tooling around the average ski village getting to the lift, getting food, or just riding up from the parking lot, there are always hills and the normal gears just don't cut it.
Well u have improved since last time nice job
Lmao you need to learn to get rowdy
daddy dankmemes what do you mean?
DanielB4life send it😂
Bought a DH Ebike, Problem solved 👍
I hope you can show some trick next video😜👍
Omg I need this for the mountains in Colorado so very Technically n knarly rides. The drive up r brutal
Even the FS roads are brutal, but in a bike!!!
Me and my buddy ride really rough trails and urban free ride so we need DH bikes but we ride our bikes to where we’re going so we’ve been doing this for years and there’s lots of “hacks” you can do to make it more affective
Biking with Noodles hey I’m just about to get a dh bike as my only bike, would you say a dropper and a wider range cassette would make a big difference?
Matty Butler I’m not a big believer in droppers cause I’m broke but definitely a bigger cassette helps a lot but I usually still walk my bike when it gets really steep but the downhill is worth the extra work for me
@@not_that_nate what about if you put downhill forks on a enduro ?
Gud effort on building Ur own chain whip I once set up my old DH bike for climbing when I didn't have any other bikes or money to buy one was fairly capable to especially on rocky climbs the suspension soaked everything up. Watch the dog bone bushings on that GT tho man Iv had nothing but problems with my sanction Snapped the frame 6 months after I got it to.
nice you make a DHenduro bike Xmanbike ( next DHroad bike or road bike make dh ) good work
Does this work with any DH bike, i am not sire with mines bc the kassete is bigger so it wi not fit in idk?
I really wanna do this
Damn this is the rocklin spot, I looked this up and just happened to find this vid ! I’ve been riding there forever and want to put a tall cassette on my yt tues, but it’s only a 7 speed, I don’t know what to buy!!!! :(
Cody Virga you know, I honestly can’t recommend putting a bigger cassette on a dh bike if you’re trying to climb, I’d only recommend if it the gears you have now are too hard, and if you never go into the last 3 gears
Cody Virga if you have a traditional dh cassette, like 11-28 tooth, I’d recommend going for like 11-30 something, like 34 or whatever is closest
I should do this to my downhill bike....
is that a ttr 125 in the back or a ttr 230? can you do a review on it i’ve been looking for a trail dirt bike for a while now
Jack Garcia it’s a 230. It’s a good bike, only complaint would be that the battery tends to die quite quickly, but that can be solved with a car battery charger. (And I don’t like the fact that it doesn’t come with a kick-start)
DanielB4life sweat do you recommend it or should i go with the honda crf 230 or the crf 150f?
Jack Garcia both of the 230’s look the same, so I’d pick either of the two. I’ve never heard anything about the 150F, so don’t know anything about it
If you buy a shock that can lock during compression, the climb will be much easier.
That travel that everyone would complain is actually incorrect, also an enduro bike “travels”, the crucial point is the frame and the sit position, assuming that the cassette is for an enduro in both cases :D .
You could also lock the fork during a climb, but these kind of forks are usually much more expensive, that’s the problem.
Anyway, once you lock the shock it should be more than fine.
Just remember at least 1.5 KG more for a DH bike, bike in example -> Propain.
Buy an xc bike
Critic League disgusting
@@aminkhorasany_4676 i agree
im thinking of getting a downhill bike because i live on a hill and have trails nearby but i kinda would like to ride it on the road and stuff .is there any recommendations because i will definitely change the cassette on it
Nuke 778 You know, I’d definitely recommend an Enduro bike, that way you can send it down the hill, and pedal it back up. Having a downhill bike is cool, but only if you are just doing downhill, like at a mountain bike park.
@@DanielB4life oh ok thanks
I'm gonna buy an exact same model like that in 2 weeks
How's it been
How much does it weights, if it is less than 40lbs it's lighter than my "super pro full sus, 26er
Quimerateck dam what’s it’s made of lead ?
Video quality good. But now go on sound quality :)
What sizes were the cassettes, mass tee ring and whiter you used? I wanted to do the same thing? Please let me know
Just Tim the original cassette was a 10 speed 28 tooth to 11 tooth. The cassette that I put on was an 11 speed 42 tooth to 11 tooth.
DanielB4life thank you, I wasn’t sure if the splines for where the cassette goes on the rim were different
Just Tim the splines were the same, it’s the shimano freehub body.
DanielB4life thank you
You should build a bike from scratch. It may be expensive, but you could you more unique parts like the magura Mt5 and Box one. Plus it would be an awesome video series.
Lucas Dudley I was thinking of doing that with a dirt jumper since it would cost a lot less than an Enduro. But I later realized that I probably wasn’t going to use a dirt jumper all too often. But I’d love to build my own bike, in the future.
You would probably want to go with a hardtail maybe with something like a Yari fork.
On an unrelated note, I really suggest investing in some video lights. They can make a huge difference
Lucas Dudley that’s a good idea, a hardtail would be far cheaper than a full suspension, and I’d love to ride a hardtail.
fish outdoors lmao
What's wrong with having a 200mm travel bike that can climb?
Everything according to mtb elitists
@@robieosborne7369 im not an elitist. everything is wrong
That it sucks at climbing lol. Geometry of a DH bike is not designed for climbing, even the guy said it didn’t feel good. Also not to mention the weight of a dh bike. And if you’re climbing you’re dh bike that means you’re not riding park, and are probably riding local trail system which a dh bike is completely overkill and would just make those trails more boring
Listen to the chain rubbing the Chainguide wondering why the fuck it’s at a 45degree angle 😂 🤷♀️
Ps I could hear your chain hit your bare frame at the end. Ouch.
Wait how did that work? u didn't change the controlller so it can be for more gears
Orange Antelope The shifter was made for 10 speed, but I just added the 11 speed derailleur, and it seemed to work fine. If I remember correctly it went to all the gears as well. You a Katarina main?
@@DanielB4life yes I am 700k points
Orange Antelope Damn. I once saw a Tryndamere with 996 k points, but he fed a lot lmao
I put 11speed 11-42T 28T chainring, on my gt fury and it can climb.. sram gx groupset
with a 28T you will have really bad pedal kickback problem. you're chainring should at least be at level with the main pivot.
MY DH BIKE ONLY HAS 11-21 cassette
I have a suggestion I think you should buy a short cage derailleur for the bike
Profile Name shimano zee my Dh bike has a zee and it can fit even on the Dh one a 36t cassette and it can climb like a beast and I’ll for sure be the fastest on descents
1000 degree drill bit vs metal 😱👌👌
its heavy because that fork itself is making you slack af.
Pardon? Come again!
@@krinkedsurface can't get it? mostly wide range sprockets are mostly on single crown bikes not on dual crown bikes like downhill bikes.
understand the situation fucker.
Lol, someone hasn’t watched “the longest name in africa”, as it seems
@@krinkedsurface sadly im not the only one who has the longest name in africa. fuckwit
I mean dh bikes ain't supposed to climb but go,for it if u want to
hunter lowe I know, I’m most definitely not keeping this set up, put everything back on my bike immediately after recording this. Lol
The name of the bike!???
BE ENERGY GT Fury
@@DanielB4life the 2018 ?
BE ENERGY no, 2015
Everyone saying dh bikes can't climb but I just did the exact same thing in the video and I have a way better DH bike for everything imo
put an electric motor on it.
On my enduro bike I can’t get the right side pedal off have any tips on getting the pedal loose?
Take a big wrench with a whole in the back or a long pipe and use it to get more torque on the allen wrench. You will either break the allen key or the pedal will come off (same thing with wrench) not a good idea but has never failed me
Collin Holleran what he said ^ lol
Collin Holleran are you twisting the right way
Big Smoke yes lol but it won’t budge so I’m going to talk it to my local shop and let them deal with it
@@collinholleran5508 Using a pvc pipe around your pedal wrench gives you additional leverage to remove the pedal. Also, when you're installing new pedals or replacing the old ones, make sure to use grease so you don't end up in this position again lol
it’s a downhill bike, not enduro bike. I get the idea, but the geo and the fact of 8 inches of travel won’t really be climbing friendly
Cash Allen I know, just wanted to see if it was possible 🤷♂️
@@DanielB4life cant you just lock the shocks and use a dropper post?
Tho he put extra stuff to make it possible..
I wanna see a stock downhill bike go uphill
A dh bike can’t climb
Cole Dietrich this one can😉
What about Polygon xquareone dh?
Ask my legs my one can
Yes it can I used a trek session to climb with an 11 speed derailleur and cassette swap, you need to really bring your legs and lungs for longer climbs due to its weight but a DH bike can climb
You sound weak bro
Called a DOWNHILL bike for a reason, because it’s not for climbing lol
Henry Page now anymore. It’s now an All Mountain Bike
Just use the bike what it was made for
🤣😂🤣☝️👆☝️ loser
Joaquin Pineda dead head
dh bikes are meant to go downhill not uphill
Buys a £4, 000 DH bike, can't afford a good helmet. Seems legit
Do you have a helmet? Bet not..
Trail bike Will yeah, I actually don’t, if you are offering to buy me one, I’ll gladly take that generous offer, especially from a nice gentleman such as yourself. I haven’t the slightest clue as to where my helmet scurried off to, but good heavens, I couldn’t find it for the life of me. Now, Will, how about I go make us some nice, warm tea. We can sit by the fireplace and have a nice sip, while talking about our life’s. Actually, how about we start now, and you can share the first detail? That would be amazing Sr. Will! Wouldn’t that be just the best thing ever?
