- Ideally you'd play this with slaps and pops but Hydra sadly doesn't have those. I did utilize the neck and bridge pickup along with the single coil analog eq setting to simulate that mid position single coil tone. Not as cool sounding as the real thing with proper technique but a cool idea.
Blending pick ups definitely can introduce more tone possibilities. I personally like to blend the bridge and the middle in stratus - instantly becomes more full, djenty and overall more articulate. Amazing and creative riff by the way!
I'd love to get my hands on stratus and mess with that. I absolutely love single coil tones.
you can enable both the bridge and neck together to simulate the mid position single coil. not as good at the real thing but it's better than the single coil eq

100%. I had recorded it with a real guitar first and was wondering if shreddage could come close. It kinda does with the mid position but it does sound weird. I did single coil mid position for this tone.

I could absolutely do that. For this specific video I just threw this one together but if I nail one down for a track, I can share it for sure. I've never used it in a song but I have made a similar tone to this with the Otto 11 11, toneforege misha and podfarm 2. It's basically just using a cab that sounds like it has scooped mids, using an amp with lots of high end and nearly no gain. Using VERY heavy compression before hitting the amp. On the guitar you'd want to use single coil pickups in the mid position. Otherwise, you would want to EQ before going into anything to account for that. I'm considering writing a whole instrumental in this style at some point because the sound is so interesting :)
@@HollowHeart-Studio Thanks for the reply. I’ve been using Shreddage 3 for a only a little and I’m still struggling with tone. I am using Archetype Nolly which does have a great sound, but I still can’t quite achieve the tone I want. I am also really new to mixing in general as well, so it could be my lack of knowledge on how to properly eq.
@@noahstrasmann1557 they make amazing sounding amps and shreddage sounds like really well tracked di if programmed correctly. Since you have some great stuff to work with, I highly reccomend looking up some presets for whatever you're going for.
How do you program in a quick slide into a note?
It depends on what you mean. There are 2 slide keyswitches and they function very differently. 1 of them slides to or from fret 0 and the other slides from a specified note to another. On my channel I have a video that I belive is something like "wild major key riff" and there's a link to the midi. That has slides programmed if you want to see how I did that. Explaining it in text is really odd but I'll try.
Essentially you want to put your slide articulatuon a16th or 32nd note behind the note you want to slide to. I like to turn off snapping and pull that articulation 1 way or the other to adjust the timing exactly how I want it.
You want force string on under the notes you're sliding to or from. Plot the first note. At the end of the note put the slide articulation. Then plot your next note that you want to slide to.
Once you have that. Pull the start of the 2nd note back to where the slide articulations starts. Again a 16th or 32nd note. Then I'd recommend setting your daw to loop it so you can adjust the slide timing. You'll want to highlight both your 2nd note and the slide keyswitch at the same time and manually pull their start time around to see what sounds best.
Impact soundworks also has a tutorial on slides that applies to all their guitars. It's not the most in depth thing but it got me started
