- Daddy by Sylvia Plath in Tamil / TRB / Bharath Ravindran / Bharath Academy. This poem 'Daddy' was composed in October, 1962. Her father, Otto Path was a great German scholar of Biology and German language. He had the Nazi's temper. He had no faith in God. He worshiped German symbol of Hitler. The black symbol was dear to him. The moustache he had resembled that of Hitler. He died in 1942. At that time she was ten years old..That was her first encounter with death. She remained obsessed with death in one form or other. She felt an unbelievable attraction towards death. When she was twenty years old, she tried to commit suicide to meet her father in the world of death. On February 11, 1963, she committed suicide. In this poem there is a mixture of love and hatredness for her father.
