Considering the talking chests, i think all of those were mimics, just not all of them were hungry

Now that I think about it, I would love the idea of a friendly mimic partner in an RPG
alls good until a chest says "I am a mimic"
Lol
And the mimic lies

@@smartieking-gw1qv how are you not dead from reading this?
The thing with 1 chest solving that becomes apparent is that when a chest says "this one isn't a mimic" it's always telling the truth because if it were a mimic, then there would have to be 2 mimics for that to be true when there is only 1 possible mimic.
On the first level! But there's more mimics later
@@Undefined14 yeah, he said one chest solving
@@Undefined14It also works anytime you've already found all but one mimic.
@@Undefined14 It holds true if two chests are saying the same chest isn't a mimic with two chests too. And so on and so forth
@@ArachneInTheWeb it is just a logic puzzle at the end of the day. But it's a very fun concept I've been playing this game and I was hoping Tyler would play it too!
9:50 You can tell the top two are mimics because "2 Mimics hide side-by-side" must be true.
Smart! I didn’t even notice that.
The way I saw it, for both cases side by side and not, the top left treasure must be a mimic which forces side by side to be true
wrong logic, brain was on autopilot
@@newman4660But then top left wouldn't be lying, so it wouldn't be a mimic. The point is that knowing that, in the left column, one chest is a mimic and one is not implies that both mimic are in the same row, thus adjacent since the right column are not mimics.
@@newman4660 top left says that bottom row has at least one mimic so when it becomes mimic, bottom row can no longer have any mimic since it's a mimic
as someone who played the demo Nesha is the one talking to the chests with her magic she is not there for "moral support" but to help you figure out which chests are safe to open, if it weren't for her you would have to either risk opening mimics or open no chests and die to the enemies. you play the warrior she is the magic wielder talking to chests and neither of you would be able to do this alone.
but still great video and I can't wait to play the full game myself.
Also she cast spells sometimes... :D
One bit of advice is that if a chest says a statement that would say that it could be a Mimic, that chest is not a mimic. For example, if a chest says that there is a mimic in the bottom row, and it is in the bottom row, it is safe; if it were a mimic, it would be lying and thus could not be a mimic. Great vid!
well, only if it's saying there's at least one. If a red box says "there is 1 mimic amongst the red boxes" and there're two or more red boxes, both mimics could be red boxes and then it'd be a lie to say that there's 1 mimic among the red boxes.
any time it basically says "at least one" but not a defines number
in regular rules anyways.
There are 7 different difficulty modes in this game. Once you complete one dungeon in the three main modes, you get access to the other four, mostly harder ones.

CZcamsrs are to good and smarter than the rest of us to read tutorials.
Combat is a more 'puzzley' part of the game than it may sometimes seem. An enemy with 1 health is just as alive as an enemy with 10, and strong weapons break if you use them too much. So you can swap into a weaker weapon for the finishing blow (or even earlier), letting you save strong weapons for strong enemies.
The one thing that changes this is Nehsa, who can sometimes chip in a bit of extra damage to kill some enemies. However, it's completely random when she uses her abilities (it's 30% default, although you'll typically pick up other items that increase the chance. Look at your relics for the details).
The slight transparency at 9:13 to make the text look like it's behind the shop UI is such a neat touch

I'm surprised to see this was made in RPG maker, what an amazingly versatile engine
i thought it looked like rpg maker
Yea tbh you can tell this is RPG maker, so no suprise from me either
@@Snaps12345 the UI is the biggest give away
@@catkook543the sound effects too haha
it's really not a very versatile engine. really cool stuff like this tends to require a lot of creativity and hard work, either in getting around the engine's limitations or working within them. this is a good mix of both, a bunch of these ui details are custom plugins but i also love how this places relatively "basic" stuff like simple dungeon rooms and shop areas into a different context

Editors highlighted the wrong boxes I think. The blue box says that one of the rightmost boxes is a mimic, and the one to right of it says there are no mimics in red boxes, including the rightmost ones, making this a contradiction.
+you can see Tyler hovering over those 2 boxes.
10:00 was solvable. The bottom two are side by side, and the mimics would have to be separate.
This is one of the channels I consistently always come back to. I don’t know why but watching you solve chill puzzles is a big vibe, cheers mate!
at 10:00 you could figere out that top right is always a mimic, so it wasn`t 50/50
Except that that would remove the contridction on the middle 2
If the top right was a mimic, the bottom would be a mimic(due to the lie that the one below isnt a mimic), and the middle 2, one would be required to be lying due to the contradictory wordinf on both (side by side and not side by side)
If they played perfectly then we would be missing half the game. Besides, you need to know when to do this for random mode when you literally can be put in situations where if you don't have a charm or blue orb than you won't be able to open all the chests.
@@deathblade32the two in mid are an impossible pair since they contradict each other from being a mimic together, also if we know the top left is a mimic the truth would be that there are no mimics at the bottom so that instantly rule out bottom.
@nito804
Exactly my point, i was pointing out why TC was wrong to quote ,"At 10:00 you could figure out that the top right is always a mimic, so it wasnt 50/50"
Which ia why i said if top right is a mimic, then the one below would be a mimic and the contradiction of the middle 2 would be wrong (in fact the top middle would be wrong). Heck you could logic the last 4 easy too
1 on top. | not side by side
1 on bottom ! Side by side
If the top middle is correct, the only 2 it could be is at least 1 in bottom, and side by side, which would fufill the bottom which wouldnt be a mimic then so its lying
If the bottom middle was correct, then the 2 solutions are bottom/top or bottom/not neighbors (correct) which is the only case that works with the black chests vouching for each other and a contrediction
@@omegahaxors3306you can get situations like that way before random mode.
9:51 The top and bottom middle chests contradict each other, so only one of them can be a mimic.
The top left one _has_ to be a mimic, since if the bottom middle one is a mimic, the only valid chest that isn't side-to-side is the top left chest. Same goes for the top middle, as the top left chest is the only valid one that is a neighbor.
However, since the top left one being a mimic means there are no mimics at the bottom, we can rule out the bottom middle mimic. Thus, there is only one possibility left: Top left, top middle.
Aliens truly do rock
PLEASE WE NEED MORE OF THIS GAME (also another puzzle game CZcamsr covered this game and his name was Tyler, I am convinced every puzzle game CZcamsr is named Tyler)
earlier this week i saw a different youtuber playing this game and i was wondering if you did but since you didn't at that time, i was hoping you'd eventually play it
aaand here it is :D
I love logic puzzles. This was one of your best videos in a while because I wanted to solve each one. You do them so fast!
This video flowed so well that I wasn't expecting it to end, I need more of this!!!
Honestly, it's a really interesting game that no shit kept me involved the entire time. Like 0 clicks away, i needed to see you win and solve these puzzles. Additionally, hearing you work around them was great. Need more now.
10:00 it isn't a 50/50, since you knew it was either both the top or both the bottom, and the top row said that the mimics aren't neighbors, you could determine that the top row was mimics.
Actually the reason why it is the top is, the top middle is impossible to be telling the truth, the right two back each other up, and the top mid backs them up as well with his lie, but the problem with his lie is it leaves 3 chests left all of whom are neighbors(besides top left and bottom mid, but if both are mimic is impossible because it would be a mimic telling truth about bottom mid being mimic) and therefore you know he is lying, because the mimics must be neighbors since all 3 remaining chests have 2 mimics remaining hypothetically as we are told 2 mimics are in each batch of chests. Since a liar is a mimic he must be a mimic. The bottom chest says their is a mimic in top row and the other bottom chest says they hide side by side, both statements can't be false due to their being a confirmed mimic and therefore both statements must be true. Making the top mid and left have to be mimics.
Think we're on same line of thought I only added to it since we needed to confirm the right colum weren't lying so I gave my reasoning for them too.
Easier reading: right column has 3 chests vouching for each other top mid, as he says mimics aren't neighbors, top right, and bottom right. Since 3 have said they are clear it impossible for them to not be clear, as one must be telling the truth. Both right chests clear each other either both are lying or neither as their is two mimics. The top mid says mimics aren't neighbors therefore they are clear. But this leads to an error if they are cleared, than top mid is a mimic because it causes an error it only allows the top left and bottom mid as they arent neighbors to be a mimic. Which is impossible becausd top left says their is a mimic in bottom row, a truthful statement if they are both mimics, and as we all know mimics are liars. This means the only possible non neighbor combination is impossible, therefore the top mid is a mimic, and we now know the mimics are neighbors, and the top left is a liar, and therefore the only combination left is top mid and top left.
Couldn't be bottom two either, as the bottom mid would be telling a truthful statement, which as far im aware mimics can only lie.
Picked this up when it released and I've been having a blast with it. Very simple concept and the roguelike elements are pretty barebones, but the core puzzle gameplay is really satisfying to me. The minesweeper mode is my favorite but they're all good.
Found this game myself a couple of days ago, it's so addicting. Happy to see you give it a try, would love to see more!
Really liked solving these along. Looking forward to more of this!
Man, these puzzles looked really interesting, to the point that I was really considering just immediately impulse buying the game - and I don't normally play puzzle-focused games - but then you mentioned the gut mechanic, and how opening a mimic makes you just instantly lose. Those are both individually deal breakers. Puzzles shouldn't have a time limit, and I don't believe total loss should be conditional upon a single mistake. I also overwhelmingly prefer real-time combat, and it's especially weird that this game goes with turn-based for combat but forces a timer on you during puzzles, that's totally backwards to me.
Glad I stumbled across this video though. I paused on each screen to solve the puzzles myself before you did, and I think (memory's already fuzzy because puzzles can do that to the brain) I got pretty much all of them right.
I honestly bought this game as soon as you said the description, it's an amazing game, but mentally exhausting. I have never had to think so hard and so active for any game I've ever played. Maybe I don't play enough games in this genre, but this game was a treat!
This is a type of constraint system problem, specifically a logic puzzle. CSP's are a class of problems that can be solved in constant time by quantum computers as they equate to a sudoku puzzle with only the possible states collapsed into.
I've been having a lot of fun with this game myself, and the challenge dungeons, which are unlocked after completing the main 3, are quite tough, and make you have to use some interesting logic. Would love to see you do more.
Dang, great work editing this. Really easy to follow along
Appreciating the editing that highlights contradictions!
the moment i learned this game existed i was like “an aliensrock playthrough of this would go so hard” and now here we are. please make this a series
This looks like a really fun game! I would love to see more Tyler! Good work
I like the editing in your videos that make things easier to follow
when i started the video, this game looked right up my alley. 4 hours later i cleared the confuse dungeon and now my brain hurts. great fun, thanks!
1:44 Is the top middle supposed to be highlighted instead of top left?
Ok yeah that make sense I was so confused to the deduction because of the wrong highlight.
Thought that as well. But regardless it’s a mistake. And we are only human. Right?
I really love the editing in your videos
Finally, I've been waiting patiently for you to play this game.
Got this game because of this video and ive been loving it! I hope you play more, it gets really challenging
I know you play a lot of puzzles game but i just wanted to say youre smart af getting the logic puzzles so fast while explaining it at the same time
One thing I saw come up a few times that Tyler didn’t really talk about was cases where the chest being a mimic would make it’s own statement true.
For example, a chest on the right saying “the rightmost column contains at least one mimic.” Such a chest can’t be a mimic, because it being a mimic would make its own statement no longer a lie, creating a paradox.
The tip is. When there is only one mimic. A box that vouch for other box, is not a mimic and the box its protecting. Because otherwise, both are mimic. And that's not possible sense there is only one mimic
It's cool to see more rules.
I think, for rules with gold you can even directly check if they are true.
What a neat game! I hope you make more videos on it!
Love the dialogue editing 😭
I like that stopping the video before he solved the puzzles, most of the time I solved them in a different way
Would love to see another episode of this game
for the algorithm babyy
would love to see more of Tyler playing this, seems good
Yooo, at 1:14 the combo sound effect from Lisa the painful is used whenever you level up in this game. Whether or not this game ripped sound effects from RPGMaker or simply just wanted to bring nostalgia to people who used to/still play those games is a really nice touch!
Edit: Never mind, plenty of RPGMaker sound effects are used in this game (I just immediately thought that it was only from Lisa the Painful), so an extra neat touch!
This has to be one of the most ingenious RPG maker Titles I've seen. Refreshing.
9:19
After establishing you have 2 good guy on the right, and the middle ones are in dispute, you could takie into consideration both reds POV. In both cases, they are saying that the first box is mimic, so it has to be mimic. And because mimics always lie, the bottom row has no mimics.
Boxes 1 and 2 are mimics.
Would love to see more of this
It’s crazy that I found a game for once before Tyler played it. Glad he’s playing it though.
Hey Tyler, just want you to know that I really liked this game and would like to see more, thanks!
I recognize the animations and the sound effects. This was made in RPG maker. Always great to see one of these out in the wild 🙂
9:54 you can do it with logic. If either of the blue is a mimic, then the red box next to it, must be a mimic because the blue mimic is lying about having a mimic on the other side. And because we know that the mimics have to be side by side. The top row red is lying
2:11
thank you for that editor
as a non US citizen that's exactly what I imagine it's like over there
Okay, I'm stealing *the hell* out of this concept for my DnD campaign.
You'd need to give a reason why the chests are talking, unless you make it a riddle on the wall.
...or have the solution be that they are all mimics because they are all talking chests.
@twobladedswordsandmauls2120 I was thinking of it being either a mini game or a wizard's challenge of some sort. The non-mimics delivering their message with the Magic Mouth spell would be the easiest way to do it.
The one you used a crystal on was solvable because it wasn't top 2 or bottom two, it was the top left one no matter what and if that one is lying you know the other mimic is on top.
its fun to go through the puzzles before aliensrock solves the and seeing how we figure it put differently
The editing In this is fantastic.
I might need to try this again. When I played the demo, the puzzles got too hard for me REALLY quick, but this was much more reasonable.
i can tell this is gonna be one of your next big series
Awesome stuff man :)
This was a fun video, I need to see more
This editing is fire man
I want more of this!
YOO love this game, keep making videos on it :D
+Rep to Ben
Super fun watch. I like this one.
10:00 Actually, you didn't need to use an item. It's true that either of the red boxes could be a mimic, but only the top blue box could be a mimic. That's because of the red statement, if the bottom red was a mimic, then the top blue chest is a mimic. If the top red chest was a mimic than it's still the top blue one that is a mimic.
Been waiting for you to play this
Something Tyler didn't seem to notice about the puzzle at 10:00 is if it had to be the two pairs he said, the bottom pair never could've worked, as there would be a mimic telling the truth (being side by side)
I would love more of this game
3:28 you could tell the top middle was a mimic because you cleared the blue boxes when you saw they contradicted each other.
I love this,More of this!
4:22 When a chest accuses any other chest(s), you know for sure that either the accuser or the accusee is a mimic, so you could have immediately narrowed it down here.
9:58 This is not a 50/50. The bottom 2 can't be mimics, because then the bottom middle would be telling the truth.
Great video, I enjoyed it a lot!
10:00 It was solvable. Remember a mimic CANNOT tell the truth. So one of the two row has 0 mimic, since one of the blue is a mimic and is lying about one row containing a mimic. So the mimic are side-by-side , so the red saying that can only be innocent, so lower row is innocent.
yesss i saw olexa play this and just knew it would be perfect for you
yay, more mimic logic! (or was that icely)
Hey Alien, did you know Case of the Golden Idol has a new DLC? It's called The Vampire of Lemuria, and you should try it out!
Real Backpack Hero vibes, I hope Tyler plays that again soon too
8:34 In this Situation you can see that the Bottom row Chest saying, there is a Mimic in the Bottom row.
A Mimic would never make it self a suspect: Meaning that every Chest with a Text accusing it self with the others can never be the Mimic.
10:00 The top red and blue boxes are mimics because if the top red box was telling the truth then it couldn't be the top 2 or bottom 2 boxes in contrast the bottom red box has the true statement that 2 mimics are next to eachother.
Fun looking game and I’m excited to see random mode which seems like an insane difficulty spike
At 3:45 he could have also deduced the one that said blue boxes had to be the mimics as if it wasn’t then the red box would be a mimic as well. Which isn’t possible with only one mimic available
you can see how often Nesha uses her magic by doing right click/esc and clicking relics it should be there
I'd play the absolute hell out of this if there was no timer mechanic.
I love puzzles. I despise being pressured on time during puzzles. I like to double- and triple-check my work.
The girl following you is what allows you to talk to the chest to hear their lies.
I wish the combat was a bit more involved or there was some option to choose your difficulty, combining this mimic concept with some kind of pokemon mystery dungeon system would be absolutely dope, especially if part of the gameplay was just making sure you found every chest or something
"Monsters drop loot"
Slashes both of them
1:43 small editing error, it should be the top middle box that should be highlighted and not the top left
I love puzzles like these
I would love a second video on this
For 10:15, you could known it was the top 2 because the bottom middle one said they were side by side
If a chest is saying "there are more mimics in x color than y color", it always translates to "y color contains no mimics" (given there are 2 mimics at most). For there to be more mimics in a color they cant have an equal amount, so either 1:0 or 2:0, and since a 2:1 is only possible with 3 mimics, this can always be derived
Thanks for video. Bought the game righ after watching. Sometimes RPG maker games are truly a hidden gems.
