VloĆŸit
- Äas pĆidĂĄn 1. 01. 2022
- I watched Blyth Spartans v Gateshead in the National League North at Croft Park.
Traditionally, we know the North East derby to be between Sunderland & Newcastle. But the atmosphere at a Non League derby between Blyth Spartans and Gateshead can't be beaten!

People like Alan are the life of non league clubs. What a guy!
Definitely.

đ đ đ€Ł
Yea Iâve spoke to the person he was speaking to!
Such an incredible following. The north east of England has some of the most passionate fans youâll ever see.
And you can still stand for a game.
I'm a Blyth & Newcastle fan when i saw you interviewing Alan i was gonna jump in claim to fame lol anyways as for Alan he is a Spartans Legend he is such a lovely bloke with the biggest heart i have ever seen
I'm a Leyton Orient fan who has always had an interest in Blyth Spartans, mostly from the FA Cup runs over the years. I look out for the scores and wait for their youtube highlights so thanks for this, loved it!
Me and the old man went to the fa cup game against yous and was such a great day out with a great stadium!
Never heard of ? I live in Belgium, and I've been a Blyth Spartans fan for years.
Thanks for popping to our neck of the country! Pulling 1,000+ just north of a premier league team is a top turn out!
My dad used to be the keeper coach at Blyth in 2010-2013. So I know Alan very well, He used to look after me as I was 9 when I first started going in 2010 and obviously coaches get to the ground hours before kick off so he would always get me food and drinks. Sit with me and chat. Iâll never forget the time he told me he got me a signed Pele book. I thought wow thatâs amazing, im gunna get peles signature! A few weeks pass and he gives me the book. Itâs peles autobiography, I open it and it says âTo Corey, love Alanâ đ€Ł In all seriousness though heâs a lovely man and Iâve not seen him in a few years so itâs great to see him looking well. Blyth are a great club which still have a huge place in my heart. Best of luck Alan and Blyth! Great video as always mate!
As a Newcastle fan, this video is such a great fun to watch! Happy new year!
ikr
Once again brilliant video! This match is something special... When you see small stadium, houses behind and 2000 passionate people fort their local club it is something else. When you are from Scotland you can go to Celtic match, Liverpool match in England, Sparta Prague match in Czech Republic... ok, but these clubs are big and supported everywhere in their country, but see so many people supporting local club in fifth tier of football... Amazing! And Alan is something else, he lives for his hometown and for his club like nobody! Also want to thank Leonidas and his Sparta army for creating names for football clubs. Sparta Prague, Sparta Rotterdam, now Blyth Spartans.... yeah it seems that 300 brave warriors thousand years ago will never be forgoten.
Enjoyed that mate. Being a Blyth lad, ex-pat living in New Zealand but still keep in touch with the club and how it's doing. Used to always have a hello from 'Alan', so nice to see him too looking so well. Thanks for showing the town and beach in a very positive light. Good luck with your channel.
Robbie Dale has made over 700 appearances, and is still a class act . Super game and great atmosphere. Hope you enjoyed it .
I'm a Gateshead fan - disappointed by the result but glad you've seen us now. If you fancy seeing the most oversized stadium in non-league, you'd be made very welcome at the International Stadium!
U passed us off the park 2 days b4 ??.what happened
Bro this video was brilliant from a Newcastle and half Gateshead fan!
When someone mentions Blyth Spartans I always think about the 1978 FA Cup run which saw than reach the 5th round against Wrexham in front of 42000 at St James Park. The old lad you talked to was very enthusiastic about his club and that is great to see
I was at the game and its still after all these days the most iconic memory I have despite following NUFC around the world Wembley finals etc
Great video, Sam! You captured the atmosphere perfectly! As a Blyth fan that was a nervy second half to sit through đŹ
You're a legend mate going and supporting these small teams
That was very enjoyable! Blyth Spartans have had a few FA Cup runs in the past. The most recent one was probably when they played Birmingham City at home. The Spartans keeper had a disagreement with a Birmingham player and the Birmingham fans taunted him for the rest of the match but gave him a round of applause at full-time. There's a lot t be said for non-league; quite a few former professionals end their playing careers in non-league football. The late Martin Peters played for Gorleston F.C. in Norfolk. I think non-league's enjoyable because it's a day out with your mates and it's fun.
They were 2-0 up until fairly late on as well, weren't they? I can't remember my heart ever sinking so much as when I read 3-2 Birmingham after that game...I mean, they're Blyth Spartans, the greatest team in FA Cup history, they can't lose!
@@danielkarmy4893 That match summed up everything that's great about the FA Cup, apart from the result.
I was at that game, couldnât believe what I was seeing at half time being 2-0 down!
Love a non league match, such a different feeling to the higher leagues
Wow!!! This is really appreciated. Thank you from South Africa đżđŠ
Brilliant. Ashington lad here but moved overseas decades ago. Me fatha was born in Gateshead and delivered milk in Blyth in the 80s. Great crowd and noise.
Remember visiting both Blyth and Gateshead a few years ago when Morton done a pre season tour down in the north East England, cracking grounds and people.
Great video and as a Southport fan, it was great seeing the passionate atmosphere this league has to offer. Especially, from the proper Northern clubs haha. Quite the upset Blyth caused, so it was much appreciated from myself as it helps my beloved Sandgrounders.
Brilliant video (as ever). A real football heart land.
inspiring presentation, makes me want to include a non league game when i visit the UK (from the US). thank you!
There far better than premier league. The standard of football is excellent, and you feel much closer to the club and players .
It's easier to attend a non league game, it's cheaper, and the attitude of the fans is amazing.
Your content was great in 2021. Brilliant start to 2022 from you...looking forward to more of your videos this year đđ
I love your channel and for some reason this is my favorite thing youâve done. So fun.
Sam, thank you so much for that amazing vid .Newcastle fan here, but love Blyth and Gateshead too.Keep em coming mate.
Fantastic vid as usual Sam, from a place Iâve been dying to visit for years.
So glad I stumbled across this guys channel. Great content and so good to see more people attending lower league and non league football.
Sam thanks for all the videos you give us . It's been a horrible 2 years what with lockdown and all that . When I'm feeling down and low I put you're vlogs on and they really do cheer me up . Carry on doing what you do . Ohh n get to a Stockport County game all the best đ
Superb vid again! Wonderful to see fans enjoying themselves with a great atmosphere.
Class video mate Ive just watched this after Tyneside lifeâs video who was sitting in the Gateshead end so itâs great to see it from both sides, all the best with the channelđ
What a fun video. Happy New Year. Greeting from Oregon. Love the lads before the game getting ready. Shy girls and old super fan like Alan, great energy.
Good luck with the channel this year, hopefully it won't be as challenging as we think, been with you since your first Cathkin park post ,look forward to seeing more đâȘ
Great to see you in my native North East. Great place to watch football at all levels
Great show Alan it is what football is all about the passion the people the commitment and pride from a tea lady to the ground staff at this level is amazing
Great video, as always. Remember to check out the Orkney v Shetland Milne Cup if you want a real north derby!!
Yeah that be good video
1st time I've seen your channel mate and I loved it. And being a Hibs fan it was great to see a young Hibee feature in it. Keep up the good work.
Plenty of multi aged family groups at the game, to be honest many of the premier leagues stewards would have had to get involved and stop the celebrations at the end, Spartans oneâs seemed to know the young lads and lasses quite well and were smiling and laughing with them, a proper sporting occasion for this old man (56)
that was just amazing, one of the best you have done and thats saying something
When I lived in blyth me and my friend would go to the match on the weekends as kids. I remember the night they played Blackburn in the cup the entire town was buzzing
Great video. On New Year's Day I was at Woodside Road for Worthing FC v Horsham FC in the Isthmian League Prem (7th tier) and there was 2.1k! Great to see so many people supporting non-league football
Seen Horsham fans at Carlisle in the FA cup good set of fans
cracking start to the new year like your non leaguge videos the best have a great new year sure many great new adventures await you steve
Quality vid mate
Glad you interacted with the young fans they are so often overlooked by content providers .
Come up to a Gateshead game when we get promoted . you'll love it
Im a Rangers and Gateshead supporter just a pity about the result. Hopefully just a small blip in our season.
We are the heed and we are the champions. Over 4000 at the match today!
Alan - What a lovely lad. I have to go there now. Fantastic!
Hi Sam , great Video as always mate and good to see another Non League Local Derby . Would love for you to come back to Auchinleck again to watch the local Ayrshire Derby vs Cumnock keep up the great work mate all the best for 2022 and get to 100k Subs đđ
Non league and lower league football has so much raw passion it just has to be experienced! You don't get that raw edge in the premier league. I went to the Surrey/Hampshire border derby yesterday, Woking v Aldershot town in the National league. What a match. A raucous atmosphere, 5 goals including an injury time winner for Aldershot, a massive bust up between both benches, police intervening to stop rival fans getting at each other, plenty of smoke bombs going off and over 5 thousand supporters packed in. A brilliant afternoons entertainment! Doesn't matter what level they play at, these local derby matches matter!!
TQ vlog - one of your best.
I did a Kent derby, Ebbsfleet v Dartford (also sixth tier) yesterday and had a blast there. 2000+ attended that game as well
Looks like a nice place, and, good folk..
Heard the name Spartans before, but, knew nothing about them, was interesting!
Plus, what a great wee ground and a decent atmosphere!
Cheers for this one, Sam đ
come down sometime mate :)
I love these kind of vids where you do match day vlogs love it keep it up đ
Great video! From a Newcastle fan, keep the non league stuff up!
Great vid Sam, happy new year to you. Gateshead used to be a football league club, they lost their place to Peterborough United in 1960. A few years ago they lost to Cambridge United in the National League play off final at Wembley.
Cracking video to start the year with ! I got the impression you may have underestimated the level and standings of the two clubs in the build up, most clubs at Step 2 (Tier 6) in the National North & South regularly get four figure crowds and there have been many examples of big matches in the next two levels topping 1000+ too this season, although the Xmas New Year games have seen some phenomenal crowds ! The North-East has a good number of clubs on the way up the leagues, i.e. South Shields, Whitby & Morpeth all goign well at Step 3 and Marske, Shildon & Stockton making up three of the top 4 places in Step 4, most of these with a fair number of supporters who are disillusioned ex-Magpies and Mackems I suspect !! ;-)
Super vlog Sam, and a great watch. I have watched a lot of Groundhopper videos over the years but this is definitely one of the better ones. I will look out for more of your videos (Blyth Supporter). Just a little bit of information for you, the man in the mural on the wall (Robbie Dale), was also the man that scored the winning penalty.
Hi just come across your channel looks very good I shall watch some more of your videos. Good luck on your travels đ
Thanks for visiting and shouting me out on the mural đ€đ»
Another fantastic Show Sam. Happy new year mate. I just love watching your Shows. You really do cover all levels of the game. Fantastic Show m8 keep up the great work. Another ground I have played at many years ago. đđâœïžđđ
Cheers Toby! Youve played at a lot!! Can't beat the atmosphere at these grounds đ
@@FootyAdventures played there a couple times mate in the late 80s when I was with Halifax Town. Great atmosphere and great people in the North East. đđđ
Was at the game and thoroughly enjoyed it, I have been a fan for over 50 years, I loved this video, keep them coming! A few more good results like this and my Toon season ticket might not get renewed....
Support Your Local Team
Great content
Played for West Riding F.A at Blyth Spartans and also Frickley Athletic up there too,John Burridge was player manager back then at Blyth
My hometown of Gateshead â„ïž
As a st mirren fan who has been to blyths ground in a friendly and it was great
Nice!! Up the buddies!!
Love these lower league games. Always interesting to look up where they are on the map and learn some UK geography. When are you coming to some games in the States? If you go to any games in NY or Philadelphia I'd love to meet you.
Absolutely magic!
All the best for this year my friend. Many adventures đ
Likewise Andy, thank you!
Love it when you visit a new ground! đđ»
Spennymoor v Darlington biggest NE derby after Mags v Sunderland.
Good video, well done!
Started a blyth spartans save on FM, very interesting history!!
I love local derbies. I have no time for top flight or 2nd tier football anymore because League football has changed so much. So it's refreshing to have seen your vid where REAL football still exists.
Exeter City fan by the way.
these are the videos i love most in this channel.. happy new year
Glad you like them! Thank you!!!
Don't you just know Alan's always one of the first ones there with his shovel when the pitch needs clearing
HEED ARMY!!!
Great to see the kids enjoying the game !
And most of them Toon fans, luv it âŹâŹâŹâŹâŹ
Someone needs to tell thogden, there's a new sheriff in town...đ quality videos mateđđŒ
i love your content , i live in canada but i'm from glasgow a big gers fan.
Good video Sam. You should come to a middlesbrough home game at one point. Our form is improving which has increased the atmosphere. Would also like to see palace vs millwall in the fa cup as that's a big derby

I moved to the area 20 years ago - prior I thought that the Angel was a bit of an odd joke - but the sense of regional pride it instils in the locals is inspiring - also Gateshead is Newcastle's little brother and the Angel started putting them on the map
Although I'm not English in anyway, after a look at non-league always thought Blyth were a cool team and watching this they're one I hope succeed more.

Fantastic vog.
Always enjoy a day at the Seaside myself and when you throw in a bit of football you have a perfect day out in my view.
Looked and sounded like a fantastic atmosphere.
What a wonderful guy that guy Alan was full of life and absolutely full of passion for Blythe Spartans.
You need to get yourself to a Pollok game at some point Sam Pollok against Kilbirnie Ladeside on The 12th of March would be a gold game to attend at Newlandsfield Park.
Keep Safe Sam.
Brilliant
Great video @Footy Adventures. Go to Gateshead International Stadium for the return Gateshead vs Blyth Spartans fixture this season. Also I think it would be great did a video where you asked Newcastle United fans what they thought of Sunderland AFC and asked Sunderland fans what they thought of Newcastle United FC like you have done with fans of Arsenal/Tottenham, Glasgow Rangers/Celtic, Liverpool/Everton and Man United/Man City videos.
There is a team called Blyth Town in Northern League Division Two. Nice ground too!
Very professional. Spartans fan
Iâve heard of that North East Derby Iâve been past Gateshead International Stadium and also Crofts Park both served by Go North East routes Crofts Park is served by Cobalt & Coast 309 and Gateshead Stadium is served by East Gateshead Loop 93/94 both go in a clockwise or anti-clockwise loop
We have always supported our local teams well in the North east.
Good video.
Iâm from Blyth mate , good vid
Top Top Top from Germany! đ©đȘ
Danke!!!
What a ledge Alan is. Canât beat these salt of the earth passionate fans. I went to Blythe away in the FA Cup 3rd round back in 2015 when they nearly done a giant killing on my club Birmingham City! They were 2-0 up at halftime but we turned it around & won 3-2
One to watch until we get Tyne-Wear Derbies again. We might have that next season mind
Yo great vid
Great video đđđđđ
When Stockport were conference North and played Salford we had nearly 8000
What year?
Am a Shields fan/supporter/photographer you should get to shields were second in Northern League Division 1. we played our local rivals Whitley Bay on the 27/12/21 but you can see the away match on the last day of the season AS IT STANDS.
Our other derbys include Percy Main, South Shields, Whitley Bay, Blyth Spartans + more
Hello mate you should go to see Hastings Utd play in East Sussex
