I just wanted to say. You did one of the best tutorials for this type of stuff I've ever seen. I was able to do this assembly all by myself because of your help. It was genius that how you first installed the pistons and then the frame. Because the Ikea instructions had you install the pistons onto the frame first THEN attach the pistons to the bedframe. Making it very awkward with the weight balance it's almost impossible to get the screws in like that. Your method is perfection. Ikea needs to adjust their instructions and add your steps in and credit you for it. Nicely done. Cheers

Helpful instructions that supplemented the IKEA instructions nicely. Only thing I did differently was attach the frame horizontally then hooked up front end of the cylinder. For safety I’m sure is why the cylinders have so much resistance. It wouldn’t budge without the frame attached. Have to be careful raising or lowering its powerful. Like the underneath storage. Over all easy to put together and parts fit well. Good packaging too. Thanks again for the instructional video. Well made and repetitive tasks speeded up is a nice touch.

FOR ANYONE HAVING TROUBLE PUSHING THE METAL FRAME DOWN AFTER IT HAS BEEN SECURELY ASSEMBLED: you need to push down with more weight. for example, the queen size accommodates up to 110lbs so you will need to push down with about 110lbs weight (hence why some comments said it will come down when you put the mattress on top.
I have literally spent hours trying to push it down (and hours on the phone with ikea who was of no help) but was afraid to put more weight on it in case I break it as the lifting mechanism seemed to be stuck and wouldn’t budge. However, when I put as much of my weight on it as possible, it finally budged! Unfortunately, was not strong enough to push it fully down but it is possible!
I hope this helps those of you who were stuck like I was!

My experience is... Yes you have to put little more force if there is no mattress but it should be easy manageable for adult.

The lid of the ottoman Base will not stay closed if there is no mattress on top as it is the weight of the mattress which keeps the lid down. An ottoman base works on the principle of pistons or more commonly gas struts taking the weight of the mattress both on its rise up and its movement back down.

Great video. One question I have is the white bracket at the end of the bed by the locking mechanism is bent so the frame will not sit flush at the end of the bed. Did I do something wrong or should I just go get a new one?

I'm wondering, how solid is this bed? Is there a specification of maximum weight can this bed resist?

Solid enough just the metal is hollow and if you have strong electric screwdriver it is easy to bend the metal
