  • It is with great sadness that I post this video. It was a really hard one to make and edit. I have received some flak for even making it. I feel it's important to show as it's a part of history. This video is my attempt at showing some of the after math of the fires. It is part of my Casey Neistat 1 month video making course. It was all filmed in two days which adds a challenge. Hopefully it doesn't come off as disrespectful.
For those who don't know, on December 30th a massive fire started in south unincorporated Boulder County (basically south Boulder). The winds were sustained most of the day around 60mph and gusts up up to 110mph. It had not rained or snowed in at least a month. This caused a horrible situation where once one property caught fire it would them become a flame-thrower. Perpetuating the cycle. Some people didn't even get a notice of the fire. Some only had mins or seconds to evacuate before their home caught on fire. It is a tragic event for the entire community.
My heart goes out to all those affected. Seeing the devastation in person is saddening to say the least.
There is still a lot to do to help people sift through the ashes and rebuild.

O wow! Thanks for being ok with it being in there, I am really sorry you guys are going through this. Not going to lie I had a really hard time filming and looking at that neighborhood. Can only imagine what it is like being someone who lived there. I hope you guys get enough insurance money and whatnot. I bet it's been rough with all the logistics. If you guys need help you can ask here. I know someone who has been working with a group of people who know a lot about disaster recovery. Make sure you read up on FEMA recommendations about cleaning up. As you probably know the ash is not good to get on you or breathe. wow. Kind of amazing you found the video. Check links in description and I made a video from the day of the fire. That one has a lot of info in pinned comments as well as description. That day was a rough one for a lot of people. Hopefully Superior and Louisville can get rebuilt in a decent amount of time. I live about a mile from where the fires stopped. If they shifted I might have lost things too.
