DIY foundation with zinc oxide.

In this video we go over how to make a DIY sunscreen base and how to turn your sunscreen base into a home made foundation.
Base ingredients:
3-4 tablespoons of sweet almond oil (or grapeseed oil)
2 tablespoons Shea butter
2 tablespoons beeswax pastilles
1 tablespoons jojoba oil
1 tablespoon of raspberry seed oil
10 drops carrot seed oil
3-4 tablespoons of zinc oxide
Add the following to a small amount of the above base:
1-2 tablespoons titanium dioxide
iron oxide colors for tinting (we reccomend brown, red and yellow depending on skin shade)
Sun smarts: DIY sunscreen products are not spf tested and therefore should not be used as your only form of sun protection. Seeking shade, wearing a hat and avoiding mid day sun are other forms of sun protection.

You could try babbasu butter or mango butter. But you might need to increase the beeswax a bit. Do small batches to test it first.

I personally prefer to increase the amount of zinc oxide instead of adding titanium, as zinc is a better sun protector and already provides the white base.
Why add the oils? I find that by including oils, instead of just butters, it separates unless kept in the fridge, which is annoying. Perhaps the beeswax you use prevents that, I don't know I've never tried it, but by omitting the oils all together I don't need to include beeswax.
For mine I just use shea butter, zinc oxide, cocoa powder and rosehip powder (for rosey undertones) or tumeric (for yellow undertones). I would love for you to try out that combination and let me know what you think! ❤️

Typically mine lasts for a year or so. But I often change the tint when the seasons change because my skin is lighter / darker in the winter / summer.

Not at all. Beeswax is non-comedogenic. You need to stay away from cocoa butter on the face though, its quite bad for pore clogging.
