The Great Glen Canoe Trail - Part Two. Scottish Canoe Adventure. Wild Camp. Ship Wreck. Loch Oich.

- In this video, we continue our canoeing adventure along the Great Glen canoe trail in Scotland. Carrying all of our gear for the trip, we paddle along the vast Loch Lochy and into a short section of tree lined canal before entering our second Loch - the quiet and intimate Loch Oich.
After exploring the ship wreck of the Eala Bhan, sitting beneath the equally impressive Invagarry Castle, we find a spot amongst the trees to set up camp for the night. A hearty dinner, a couple of beers and stories shared around the campfire and its time for a well earned sleep before our big day there - white water rapids, a broken boat and the enormity of the mighty Loch Ness.
There are twelve of us on this trip, attempting to raise money for the Alzheimers Society. I would like to thank everybody who has already donated to this essential cause, we have already smashed our target, but with your help we can go further! - I’ll put a link below to the JustGiving page.
I will also put links to the CZcams channels and Instagram pages of the other guys who took part in this adventure - please go and check out their videos for their takes of the trip!
Drone shots by Simoneardleyart - thanks mate!
I hope you enjoy the video, part three will be up soon.
Thanks for watching.

It occurred to me that with all these great trips you taken you've done a lot of extra work to take all of us along. Thank you mate for the excursions. 👍
so beautiful along there :) really enjoying watching these!
Great video Simon, many thanks for taking us along. Total gentleman not saying you won the catapult challenge.
Thanks Andrew! 😁
Epic, this deserved watching on the big screen instead of the iPad..👍 I see from others videos a lot of sail envy 😂hope the damage isn’t too bad.
Thanks mate! It’s repairable thankfully!! 😩
Wow .. buzzing off this trip buddy .. cheers Chris & Sam
Hi Simon , me and my mother enjoyed watching Kent survival for a long time now and through him we found you so you've become a part of a special moment for me where me and mom sit together for a few hours and watch bushcraft so thank you. We have also now started watching Craig thanks to your shout-out so that's another thing me and my mother are thankful for.
Another beautiful journey you have taken us on today Mr S ! Looking forward to the next video and what you might be eating . The cooking portions are so enjoyable to watch even for those of us stuck eating a bowl of cardboard flavored cereal. Safe journeys!
Thank you!
Really great edit Simon, you captured the trip perfectly 🙂. Was great to revisit it. Turned out a great little camp didnt it. We were very lucky with our campsites werent we. You did great on the moving water fella, you're a natural 🙂👍
Atb Rick n Jack
Thanks mate! Just got to learn not to smash into big rocks 😂😂
It was such an amazing trip - a pleasure to share it with you man!
Medicinal as ever Simon. Thanks for taking us along.
Just a couple of guys living in the moment, having the best time ever :-)
You have a lovely calm feeling to all your videos and especially to this one. You have a real knack of living in the moment and making the most of it. A real enjoyable watch 👌
Very beautiful canoe vacation.
You folks had a great trip it looks like. Great trip with great folks.
Sir I watch all your videos hello to you and your lovely wife from england😍
Good to see you here.
Thank you! Yes, it was a really great adventure - lovely scenery, exciting water to paddle and really good company 👍👍👍
Very nice! Looks like an enjoyable time had by all. Looking forward to the third part!
Fantastic! This series is so good. Can't wait for part III
Great Vlog Simon!! Amazed to see you've got hair 😂.
lovely Simon. thank you for taking us with you. looking forward to how you fixed your poor baby canoe. atb
Every scar tells a story! Simon will make an invisible mend once he gets her back to his amazing workshop : )
Thanks Ken! I may do a video on the repair 👍👍
Oooooh noooooo... Your beautiful canoe has a hole in it. Thank goodness for duct tape.
Midges and rain. The only certainties on a summertime visit to Scotland. At least the rain is a little warmer at that time of year.
Great filming, as always.
All the best.
Hahaha - yes, we had a bit of both! Thanks mate. 👍👍
Not looking forward to seeing your beautiful canoe damaged. As always your musical selection is spot on!
Outstanding all of you good job been with Envy ha he well done
Your mate with the DD tarp and hammock has the same sleep set up I use, quite a light kit.
I've seen every video so far from all the lads, and I never get tired of any of it!! As always Simon, great content. Your circle around the wreck was unique to the rest of the videos. And by the gods we saw you without a hat for a second time! LOL! Really enjoy going along with you all! Looking forward to Part 3. Cheers Simon!
Hahaha - I’ll try not to make a habit of it 😂😂
Thanks Maggie!
Thanks for taking us on your hols. The next part looks wild, looking forward to it.
Hi Simon, brilliant video as ever, and amazing scenery, used to wonder about that sunken boat as I passed in the car heading to Fort William, so thanks for that titbit of info. All the best, Nick
Tks for taking me along this trip over the Lochs. Enjoyed part one and two from begin to end and as a solo paddler I must admit that paddling in a mob also is great. Sharing adventures live around the fire, instead of digital on a screen. Anyway, I'll get myself another brew and then push the play button for part three. See ya.
LOL on the competition for the best campsite! Wonderful journey...love the sail! 👍😎🇨🇦🛶🌲⛺🔥
Fantastic love watching your programme ❤️
Can't wait for Part 3, Simon burns some camp fire bread 😂, you haven't in a while so it's about time lol
Brilliant video - thank you for taking us along with you and have to say that all of you are an inspiration to get out more and appreciate what we can whilst we can. Can we fast forward to next Wednesday now???
Thanks Andy!
Simon, thanks for showing on the map where you went. Helps put some context to your trip. Another great video!
Your videos are better than anything put out by the tv companies. Top entertainment watching great people just helping others. Watching your breakfast sizzle did make me hungry though :)
Brilliant demo, could do with a bit more zoom in for me though thanks for taking the time to explain
You had me with that breakfast roll! Just leave it there!
Beautiful scenery and a wonderful cause. Cheers 🍻 from East Coast Canada 🇨🇦. Take care and stay frosty!
You have to portage the locks, but you can canoe the lochs. Beautiful.
That was brilliant Simon your a great film maker it looks amazing up there looking forward to seeing your next video mate atvb Jimmy 😎😎👍👍
Great trip and video. Just a shame all the most beautiful country across the world is also so appreciated by either midges, mosquitos or scorpions. Waiting on your next adventure and thanks for you part in the fund raiser. 👍🇨🇱
Thank you for this beauty. Love from Australia 🇦🇺😎👍🏼
Absolutely outstanding video! Polish sausage and pan fried vegetables . . . a mouth watering skillet dinner! All that was missing was a glass of beer to go with it! 😊
Thank you! I had a couple of beers for desert! 😉🍻
Looks like you had an Awesome time out there . Beautiful scenery great bunch of lads what more could you want . Well done one and all on the money raised for Alzheimer's charity my hat off to you .
That looked awsome I think I would go slower so much to see
👍👍👍😜🏴🦕🙂🤞✌
White water canoeing-- used to do that all the time as a kid in Washington state. You brought back so many memories.
If I might suggest, you really need a canoe/kayak water pump that expels water on the up and down stroke. And hip waders.
For those serious about it, you need an aluminum canoe with floatation in both ends. Plastic/wood you are just asking for trouble.
Great vid Simon. Looking forward to the next installment.
Just when I thought he's mastered the word 'Loch' ..... you put a key into it and it became 'Lock' !! 🤣 Still I guess when you come from that Saxon name Norfoke, we must make allowances!
On Loch Oich a lovely evening dinner spot is the Invergarry Hotel, i moored there years ago with my wife when sailing the Great Glen.
Cracking filming Simon ! Makes me nostalgic for the auld country whilst here in the Cotswolds!
Say hello to 'Nessie' for me ! 😂👌👍
Yep, gonna live vicariously through you for a spell! Dude, YOU ROCK!!!! yeah
Don't worry about white water. It's just a haunted story! ;-) PS: I love the story!
Good one Simon ~ very beautiful scenery. Interesting story about the shipwreck and how that fellow met his wife there before it sank.
Wonderful. I hate getting to the end of your videos. Can't wait for the next.
Welcome to the Hex Peak club! Interesting to watch everyone's videos, as they all have a slightly different vibe - sometimes to the point you wonder if you were all on the same trip! 🏕⛵🤣
Loved it Simon, great footage and edit. Makes all the filming worthwhile eh !!👍🛶🔥
Nice simple tasty meal . The scenery is stunning and canoe ride was wild . I always enjoy your adventures .
Soon as I seen that frying pan you had me nothing better to eat outside in fine weather when you get it in Scotland but really enjoying the trip stay safe love from Scotland 👍🏴🇬🇧🎣
Relaxing to watch Simon, great piece of work 👍😊
I've had a long weekend wild-camping. Happy days!
Work tomorrow, but come May, when I retire, this is one trip I want to make.
Marvellous stuff!
Thanks for the great video Simon, looks like an awesome adventure 👍
Doings these trips would be fun and hardwork but being a one man crew camera man presenter editor ✍️ is amazing and so much work thank you Sir
You looked like you were flying down the water when the sail was up! Another great video, looking forward to part 3
Loved the drone shots! Can't believe the ship-wreck has all that hardware intact. Where I live that would have been scavenged.
Another impressive and sometimes gentle stretch Simon. Interesting ship story. The love boat eh? Well, cool camping to. I bet that swim hit the spot. Mark
Thankyou Simon for taking us along, Great job ! Hope the Canoe ok ? Maybe make a Vid on the Repair . That is truly a piece of working art and craftmanship. Looking forward to your next vid.
Belter, thanks Simon. Looking forward to the next one!
Very gentle account of your lovely trip. Excellent. Thanks for sharing.
Cheers for another great video Simon, I’m really enjoying the series .👍🏻🙂
Close to where I live, we have the Bowron Lake Chain. The Bowron is 116km, and can take anywhere from 6-10 days to complete. Resplendent with bears, eagles, and mozzies, it's a beautiful trek!
This trip looked lovely, the Bowron doesn't have the same amenities, the boats, castles and history...it certainly doesn't have Nessie or a pub close by either. Great trip Simon, glad you made targets!!!!
I'm jealous I wish I was on that trip, nice! I didn't recognize U in the water swimming until u came up for air.
I said to my self, thats Simon with out the hat!!! I hope u guys are getting a lot of donations the person in charge of the fund
raising!!👍👍👍🍺
You’re so lucky Simon , to go to places like that , Beautiful scenery . Sorry you got a hole in your Canoe , hope it wasn’t to bad , well a hole in a canoe is bad enough. Enjoy watching these videos and seeing places over there , very nice .
I’m getting caught up on the videos, been busy this week . On to part 3 !
You have a fine taste for music to put along with your excellent filming. Loved that
The cracaaack!!! We knew that happened coz TA said on his video. I'm so glad it didn't ruin your trip! Nice video as always!!! Can't wait for part 3!!! more ruffling hair?? Cool!! hehe!!!
Im playing catch up mate 👍 Loved it! The 7 heads well place was the scene of a revenge killing of 7 clan members. Their heads were washed in the well before being shipped to Edinburgh. The legend seems to be true as more recently, seven headless skeletons were found in a burial mound nearby. 👍
The preview of part three gives the game away!! you have hair!!! great videos of what looks like a trip of a lifetime - lovely. Take care, :)
😂😂 Thanks Tony!
Great video, as always! Thank you for sharing your adventures with us.
Cannot wait for the next video. Thanks Simon!
I really enjoyed this video, what an awesome adventure Simon, already waiting for your next video.

Hello. Looks like a very nice trip you have with canoes! Nice to see you eat Norwegian mackerel in tomato from Stabburret or as it is actually called Stabburr mackerel! Thanks for a great video! Greetings from Norway!
🌿⛺️🧅🥔 ☕️🔥🛶 🏰 ⚓️⛴🌲Another phenomenal episode!! The shipwreck was amazing yet eerie. Any stories about the castle? Looking forward to the next episode.
Apparently Robert the Bruce hid out in the castle, that’s all I know 😁👍
@@simonablokeinthewoods What’s the name of the castle again? 😊 Those Scottish names are a bit difficult to remember since our streets & landmarks are in Hawaiian 🌴🌺
Spectacular video Simon 👍👍, fantastic adventure 😀.
As always a 9.5 out of 10. Well jealous. All the best
Great video mate. The scenery is amazing. Look forward to the next instalment. All the best to you 👍🙏❤️
Great video once again Simon. Really feels like we're on the trip with you👍
