Severn Valley Railway - Autumn Steam Gala 2022

The Severn Valley Railway Autumn Steam Gala returned to a more traditional one for the first time since 2019. The timetable would see the inclusion of local trains to Hampton Loade and Highley, as well as a goods train, alongside the full line services.
The event was to see the return to service of GWR Hall Class No 4930 'Hagley Hall' for the first time in over 30 years. Unfortunately, due to multiple lineside fires caused by the loco on the Thursday and Friday of the event, it was withdrawn for the rest of the weekend, its place in the timetable being taken by BR Standard 4MT No 75069.
This would also be the last gala appearances for resident locos GWR 2800 Class No 2857 and BR(W) 1500 Class No 1501, which are both due to be withdrawn for overhaul at the end of the 2022 season.
Alongside the home fleet, there were four guest locomotives of varying sizes. LMS Black 5 No 45231 'The Sherwood Forester' courtesy of Locomotive Services Limited, GWR-inspired Mogul No 9351 courtesy of the West Somerset Railway, Hunslet No 1873 'Jessie' courtesy of the Pontypool & Blaenavon Railway, and finally 15 inch gauge 0-6-2T 'Anne' courtesy of the Perrygrove Railway.
The weather for the event was most broadly sunny with some cloud and a light breeze.
