JMU is my alma mater, it's the best school in VA. The best way I've ever heard the university and it's student body described was by Dr. Bolyard in the philosophy department. He said JMU kids are smart enough to go UVA or William & Mary but they're just a little to lazy to study on the weekends and they love to party. That pretty much sums of the culture, put in work Sunday afternoon - Thursday afternoon but from about 8 pm Thursday to 5 am Sunday morning drink and drink and drink. The academic load probably won't let you party on a Tuesday, though.
JMU is so lit!! My parents played ball and danced there, and I’d love to have the opportunity to play sports and major in Music Performance/Composition there! The atmosphere and love that I experience there is surreal! Best of luck to you, and who knows, JMU could be my future home as well!!
As a JMU Student I suggest doing SMAD instead of marketing and a minor in business! It would apply to that designing factor you love and JMU has an AMAZING SMAD program- almost everyone finds a great job in their field after graduation.

Just remember that student to faculty ratio includes all the staff you never see, like office workers, over-head, administration, etc. The number includes teachers, but is not an accurate way to portray actual class sizes!

I basically posted a picture saying “Hey, my name is Katie” and i said something’s i liked, something’s i was looking forward to at JMU, and just a little about myself. At the end, people just add their social media’s like snapchat or instagram, whatever works best for you! I actually ended up commenting on my roommates post about something we had in common in our posts and i ended up DM’ing her on Instagram and talking and getting to know each other and a couple days later we agreed to be roomies! I know this was a little long of an explanation, but I hoped it helped! There’s also a survey you can take provided by JMU and if you decide to go “random” they will room you with someone who is a close match to yourself! Let me know if you have anymore questions!

I’m a junior in high school & JMU is my dream college, I’m scared about my grades not being good enough though. Do you have any tips/advice for other things I can do to help my chances of getting in?
I had around a 3.9 GPA and JMU isn’t a school that requires you to send your SAT scores (thank god). extracurriculars wasn’t a big deal either, i really wasn’t involved because i didn’t like high school. i think if you do the best you can do and there are a whole bunch of websites you can use to see the “chances” you have of getting in! good luck love!!
