Democrats love America just as much as Republicans do. But in a different way. You see, Republicans love America like a 4-year-old loves his mommy. Democrats love America like grown-ups. To a 4-year-old, everything Mommy does is wonderful and anyone who criticizes Mommy is bad. Grown-up love means actually understanding what you love, taking the good with the bad and helping your loved one grow.

I was 24 and a week into my first year as a student nurse on the 11th of September 2001. What I loved about the western world after that horrific day was the way everyone showed so much love and support for the USA. We wanted to send a message to the disgusting cowards who attacked innocent people that they couldn’t defeat the way of life we had and shared with the USA. I still love the patriotism shown by the majority of Americans to this day. The support you give your veterans and the pride you have when you sing your National Anthem….it makes me love you guys even more.

The road to fight terrorism will never end. There will always be evil in this world and it must be dealt with. My resolve will never waiver to root out that evil, whatever the cost. As a resident of Pennsylvania, it makes me sick that so many forget about the heroes on flight 93 who crashed the plane in an empty field to ensure no one on the ground would get hurt/killed. Do you know how many 'we'll always remember' comments I see on the anniversary of 9/11 that only mention NY and D.C.? I realize the death count and destruction was far worse in NY and D.C. But the heroes/victims on flight 93 deserve recognition as well. Yet the majority of Americans forget about them and that is just pathetic and shameful.

If that’s the American ignorance you’re talking about then you bet your ass I fit that. If you’re one of those that feels that you want to attempt to change that....then more power to ya bud and good luck on that! Signed: “an ignorant American”

Those who weren't there or were too young - they're today's journalists. They're today's voters.
The political landscape has changed. Now it's about hate culture (from both sides) and focusing on miniscule problems rather than bettering the country and world at large...

Same guy that told President Bush to throw from the mound or get booed, some 16 years later - though then still 13 years younger - throws his own 1st Pitch from the mound. Having lived in NYC for a few years and having seen games @ Yankee Stadium, Jeter likely gave President Bush great advice I'd say, on any ordinary day. But on this evening, on the heels of the September 11 attacks on America, whether the President threw from the mound, or half-way. Whether he threw a strike, bounced it or it went 10 feet wide & over the backstop. It wouldn't have mattered. Yankee fans cared most as we all did. That our President was there that night to re-start this nation despite great doubt & fear, just as the fans in that stadium were.
President Bush took Jeter at his word, stood at the top of the mound and delivered a strike for the entire nation, at 55 years of age on the biggest stage ever. After all, he was always a baseball guy. Well done Mr. President.

Everywhere you went, strangers were giving you the peace sign, waving at you, shaking hands, slapping backs and embracing. We were all united. We were all family. We need that back, desperately!

This is a moment to point to when people ask why bad things happen. Sometimes our contention and depravity gets to a point where only something extreme will shock us back to reality and bring us together. It's just too bad that we are so slow to remember and so quick to return to an "all is well" mentality.
