I used to go to Fabricland, Hancock fabrics, House of Fabrics.....
I used to buy a pattern, fabric to make it with, sew it and wear it to school the next week.
Now, I just have a huge hoard of patterns and fabric i could never use up in my lifetime!!

Joanns is my "favorite" store.
You should check out Cedar Lane Dry Goods, 204 Orlan Road, New Holland PA. This is where the Amish get all the materials in the area to make quilts. They made me a quilt and it was beautiful

I remember we had a secret Joann like that. It was overwhelmingly stocked and it only had fabric and notions. It was right next door to a Hobby Lobby. What a dream! Lol

I cut fabric at a JoAnns. No matter what fabric you buy, you might go home with a little glitter or fur from cutting for an earlier customer. We keep a duster under the counter, but still... The embroidered tulle is very pretty, isn't it.

I grew up in Lebanon, PA too! (I’m 71). I don’t remember if there was a JoAnn before I left in 1971.

Our store here in allentown the store looks like it's closing. I hope not they are the only craft, fabric, yarn store left here. Oh except high priced Michael's that does not have fabric. Oh how I miss ac moore.
😂 you may not wanna continue to do these trips to PA ... we have a lot of special fabric places (I'll not mention them here, cuz you'd be stocking up more 😅)
We also have the biggggg-est Bernina dealer here too, Hinkletown Sewing Machine Shop. Need another machine? No one can match his deals!!! ... nor his machine repairs 😊
Next time I am in Lanc Co. I will have to visit that shop! I dont think it was there when I was a kid in 4H sewing. We shopped at a Singer store in Lancaster or a Brother shop in New Holland.

I am from neighboring Lancaster Co PA, & I think the luxe fabrics dont sell out as fast in our region because so many home sewers are from the Mennonite / Plain communities. They will be mostly shopping for non-glittery fabrics like cotton blends for clothing and quilting. Glad you had a blast revisiting your hometown Joann store!!

I usually try to find my backings on the clearance wall since you need a lot of it! I also like to grab minky when it’s on sale and back my quilts with minky!
I organized all my fabric on the comic boards from Amazon with the clear clips. I then realized I am a fabric hoarder.
