My sister and I live a bit away from each other and don't get to see each other as often as we would like but we have started our own "coloring club" (think book club but we color instead of read!)...we take turns picking out a picture from one of your books and we color them at the same time and, when completed, we share them with each other via e-mail. We get a kick out of seeing how differently, and in some cases how similarly, we interpret and color each image. Coincidently, THIS is the picture my sister chose this month and we are currently working on it! It's a beautiful image and your artwork is so inspiring. Thank you for helping two sisters share something so fun and rewarding. We can't WAIT for your Jungle book to come out this summer! No surprise that we have it pre-ordered :-)
My life story:
My love of art began when I found out about zentangles and what 'doodling' really meant. At some point, I began drawing in the kawaii style but it just wasn't as fun. Finally, I found your CZcams channel and rediscovered my love for abstract pattern drawings.

Hi Johanna. I was wondering if you would color the 2nd seahorse using the same color scheme or a different one / contrasting scheme. eager to hear your opinion. I've never been very good at drawing or coloring but I find it very relaxing even if it doesn't turn out as perfect as I would like. I just found your tutorials 2 days ago. I have Lost Ocean, I was wondering if there is a way I can get the other books. Do you sell them on your website? I'm so excited about trying all the different technics I've seen in your tutorials I can hardly stand it when I'm not able to find at least a few minutes to color. thank you for your wonderful coloring books. I'm so glad I found you.
Tina Corcoran Hi Tina, I know I'm not Johanna but I wondered if you'd received any help elsewhere or found your way around online yet?
Johanna sells her books all over, including Amazon (at a real steal of a price, too!)
If you'd like inspiration for colouring, there is a website called Pinterest, you can also download it on any mobile or tablet device under 'apps'. If you type into the search engine Johanna Basford, hundreds (if not thousands!) of pictures will come up of everyone's different art work. You can certainly get lots of inspiration from there! Alternatively you can use google, & type in Johanna Basford followed by the title of the book & 'colouring pages' - for instance; 'Johanna Basford Lost Ocean colouring pages'. You will find many many pages on there too.
Just remember you do not need to be an expert in colouring to enjoy her books, you pick the colours you're most drawn to, no techniques necessary - & just enjoy yourself!

Hi Johanna! I was wondering if you are going to be coming out with an artist edition of Lost Ocean? I have Secret Garden Artist Edition and The Enchanted Forest Artist Edition on order when it comes out. I love the perforation of the pages and the nicer paper in the artist editions, and the option of removing them from the book and framing them! Thanks! As well as being a awesome line artist, you have a beautiful color aesthetic!

How did you choose your colors
PLease do a colouring tutorial using the Staedtler triplus fineliners! I got them and am unsure of how to use it properly.
+SparkleGirl Shines I am using these on her Calendar. They are vibrant from a distance in a way that colour pencils are not. Those are more useful in her books. Be careful when using the fine-liner pens that they do not bleed through the paper onto the other side, which is important as she has pictures on both sides of the page. I test the last page first. That does not happen with her Calendar and that includes using the thicker Staedtler Triplus pens.

DO NOT USE STEADLER PENCILS, IF YOU WANT A NICE COLOURFUL ART USE "FABER CASTEL POLYCHROMOS" THEY ARE THE BEST AND THE BENDING IS PRETTY NICE

+Artsy Magic Staedtler colour pencil also good to create vibrant artwork. Recommend to use ergosoft and Luna watercolour.

I agree. The staedlers are so dull imo. And they don't blend. If you're happy with a less perfect look then they are okay I guess.
