    My grandmother comes from Ni'ihau. My family has been on ni'ihau since before the sinclair purchase. Last time i visited hawai'i many aunties, uncles and cousins from ni'ihau came to kuai'i to my grandmother funeral, the spreading of the ashes on the ocean. was a memorable moment. Will never forget.
    I wish to thank the robinsons

The people who come from here are just as beautiful, I swear to god if you were to meet a real Hawaiian from this island you would feel their presence immediately. It is powerful and beautiful, you can tell they grew up with respect.

    I believe the negative votes are due to your complete lack of acknowledgment to the Robinson's dedication to the preservation of the island. They could have easily sold out and developed your so called vacation culture, but instead they lost millions of dollars trying to honor the original agreement of the land purchase. If you are a native, you have a guaranteed job from them if you choose to accept it; as well as free housing and meat.

    Nice pictures and commentary - although I hope in future videos, if Alan make more of Hawaii, that he would pronounce Hawaiian names more properly. The W in Hawaiian, if in the middle of a word, is always pronounced as a V, not W as it is in English. Thanks for the video, all who had a part in it.

    • @mauidp
      @mauidp Před 8 lety +2

      The pronunciation of the "w" can go either way, even if it's in the middle. Like in "awakea", I think we could all agree that we say it with a "v". Words like "Hawai'i", the "w" is pronounced with both "w" and "v" by different people.

    I've been setting aside some money. How much for the whole chain?
    Maybe the US should sell it all to China. The British got NZ and Oz,
    etc. French got Tahiti, blah blah blah, Japan took over from the native
    Ainu, same story pretty much everywhere. Primitive cultures get
    screwed, I'm afraid that's how it works. The upside is for natives is
    indoctrination, dogma, pigeon english (cuz who wants to sound white and
    educated) and a lifetime of practicing victimology.
    So many one sided views here, you guys don't get out much

    Lots of misinformation here. The law is 100% clear. There are no private islands that can prohibit beach access. Period. From the State Laws (Hawaii): The public has a right of access along the beaches and shorelines in the State situated below the "upper reaches of the wash of the waves." (HRS §§ 115-4, 115-5, Revised 2010). So Niihau is not "forbidden".

      It should stay forbidden!

      Corporation of America setup by the Federal Reserve banking cartel has taken over state and federal, so tell me how does this illusion of a system benefit anyone when most of the middle class is being dissolved slowly.

      This island was sold by King Kamehameha V BEFORE statehood.

      The deal stands. It's private property.
      Grandfathered in, because it predates the involvement of the US government.

      @@ACEDIAMOND666 No; the laws of the United States apply to Niihau. It's not a foreign country. Maybe go back to high school and pay attention to history and US laws.

    you shouldn't need "approval"
    the robinson's should not be exempt from state law that provides access to all beaches.
    something needs to be done about the beach ASAP!
    check my video on the trash...

      @zedwpd Před 3 lety +1

      So the Robinson's ownership BEFORE Hawaii was even a state and you think it should pertain to them? You can't make a law "after the fact" personal property had been decided.

      @@zedwpd There were many land owners that claimed ownership of the beaches, mostly on Oahu. seagrant.soest.hawaii.edu/public-access-rights/
      Bottom line: If they claim absolute isolated access to these beaches that are natural environments to Monk seals and Sea turtles, then they need to take care of the beaches. People have tried to access the beach to clean up the endless trash, but have been turned away.
      If you haven't seen it with your own eyes like I have, you really don't have a valid opinion on the matter.
