I use a .155" string on an aftermarket head and low gear on the Dewalt attachment capable. It barely wears against brick, concrete, or wire fence. Bludgeons the grass out of the way. Messy, but functional and I can get up close to my agricultural buildings and fence without chewing up line.
Do any of these models work with universal attachments? I didn't see that covered.
Did you try out the Ego commercial 17.5 inch? Does it compare to the Milwaukee 17 inch?
I have the single battery M18 myself. I only use for light to medium thick brush/grass but I’ve been absolutely surprised at how well it powers through most anything and being only 18v nominal vs many other brands twice that voltage.
Love my M18 single battery string trimmer. Lots of power and I have quik lok and have several attachments. Love the versatility.
Just bought mine over the weekend, and I agree with both of u. Love it so far.
I had the ego and had nothing but problems with line feeding. Exchanged it for their top model with Kevlar pole and again same feeding issues. I won’t go back to ego.
me either; gave my ego trimmer away.
Thanks
You mentioned combination tool. Did I miss the review? I didn’t see it in the video.
What happened to RYOBI 40V HP
In the field you will need to bring inverter and extra 12v car battery to charge more than one electric tool battery
I bought a ego trimmer, used it 3 times, was $170. I didn't buy the line eq version just basic. I like the power, but there are 2 things I don't like. The 2.5ah battery lasts me about 25 minutes and when you put it on charger right after using the weed trimmer, I have to wait about 15 minutes for the battery to cool down before charger will charge. Otherwise i like the ego.
The most powerful trimmer is the Ego stx 4500. That thing is insane!!
Yes, no contest.
I just got mine last fall and it didn't get much use during leaf cleanups. It will be interesting to see how it performs with thick spring growth.
See that mouse at 00:50 - 00:52
Good catch, another commenter saw the fleeing mouse running for its life, and we laughed our heads off when we looked back and saw it 😂😂😂
I have the ego line iq with power head and I love it except it will get down to 1-2 inches before it adds more line
I also have sthil fs131 gas and the ego is more powerful.
Biggest downside to the ego is weight,I added the backpack battery holder so that’s no longer an issue.
I now have many ego products edger, push mower, blowers and after owning them for 3+ years now I’ve had zero problems with batteries or equipment.
I own the Ego snow thrower shovel and was wondering if those batteries work with the trimmers? In fact I think the shovel came with 2 batteries. Not at home right now so can look at them though.
@@shadyrebob5999 all ego batteries work with all ego products from trimmers to riding mowers to the dirt bike thing
Woow❤❤😮😮
STIHL!! 🇺🇲👍
No 60v dewalt?
Definitely the best one out still imo
Pretty sure they shown/tested only the standalone/non attachment string trimmers. Def top 2 attachment capable trimmer though.
Whichever weed whacker is compatible w Terre rotary scissors is the best brand or which ever weed whacker brand has its own brand of rotary scissors is also the best brand. Dewalt weed whacker is one of the best brand, but does not have their own brand of its rotary scissors attachment like tht of the Milwaukee brand weed whacker.
Dewalt 60v > m18x2
Agreed. My Dewalt 60v is stronger than the gas trimmer it replaced.
any one works good battery doesn't last enough and it dies quickly i almost get fired cause of the not efficient battery tools
Where's the Hart trimmer
At Walmart
😂😂😂
Surprisingly it's an exact copy of the Ryobi. Watched abother video where the guy shows how they r made by same company. They just made the batteries slightly different so you can't enter change them. Seriously the Hart isn't bad from what he said. It's the exact same as the Ryobi from head to motor. Triggers r even the exact same and hart Hart has hi low switch Ryobi doesn't
Echo batteries are trash and they change battery form factors too often.
Both of my batteries are defective now and I’m forced to find something else because they don’t sell the batteries anymore.
58v and only 7 years old.
Batteries were flakey from the start, but I could always push the button on battery to reset the issue and get it going again, until I couldn’t anymore.
Avoid Ego. My battery died after a year after purchasing. Replacement died after 2 and now they are saying tough luck that it's outside warranty. My string trimmer went down and it took 3 months to fix. It seems customer service has gotten pretty bad over the last 8 years I have used their stuff.
This is my issue with Ego. Really great product, unless something happens. Their customer support was horrid to deal with and I ended up waiting almost 5 months to get mine fixed and returned.
@@Thatbeardedguy86 Same. The company they had doing the service work said they were going to stop carrying their products because the frequency they are breaking. They use to be pretty good. Lately that has changed unfortunately.
Great comment. They should put each of their customer service at a test.
I have had 2 ego batteries fail. Both came with a kit that I bought with the string trimmer. About 5 years old.
You see these companies would be better off standing behind their product in the long term. Because in this comment section it’s the first thing I see. And I will never buy their product.
After using electric for 4 years then using a gas string trimmer I won’t go back to electric
Why?
I don't understand how anyone could have this opinion
@@looking_33 what do you mean
@@mustang2433 i hate gas trimmers with a burning passion. they are the most troublesome, dirty, finnicky, annoying machines i've had to deal with. I have just never heard anyone go back to gas after electric. Why??
@@looking_33 well gas isn’t for everyone my gas trimmer starts easy I can get more done on one tank of fuel then I could with my electric I’m not saying electric is bad it’s just when I have to do heavy work with it it doesn’t keep up with the gas and when I was looking at getting a bigger battery for my ego the battery was 300 for a 5ah and a new STIHL gas was 220 and after I felt the power difference and that I could get so much more done I never when back my ego just sits in my shed now it’s a nice string trimmer but for me the gas is just way way better
Don't buy Ryobi its no good quality and there motors are not good and will overheat and die.
EGO = PISS POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE!
i picked up that skil kit for 119$ on amazon. seems like a good deal for a 40v trimmer. plus i had 60$ in amazon gift cards to spend. I think people are sleeping on skil. The Same people that makes ego makes Skil etc.
Not a bad deal at all! And you are correct, Chervon is the name of their parent company.
