For the last 18 months I've not let the lawn crew edge or use a weed eater in my back yard. czcams.com/users/postUgkx_rBCFuDW1zD6blTGhLkvAkxU657uR_lG I didn't like the fact that they just kept cutting the edge of the lawn further and further from the rock lining the flower beds and leaving bare ground. And the grass was trimmed or scalped several feet around trees, etc. It was a constant battle with them so I told them to just mow and no trimming. I have Zoysia grass so it grows pretty slow. Obviously after a while it could use some trimming. I'm in my 80's so I can't do much of it myself. Finally I decided that if I could find a lightweight battery powered trimmer I might be able to do some light trimming. I decided to buy the LST201 20V trimmer. And it works great for my needs. I have back yard with about 150' of flower beds and several trees to be trimmed. I can lightly trim the whole yard with a single charge! The grass I trimmed was only a few inches high but the trimmer was more powerful than I expected.

Wow - just went through the same process without having seen your review. Have an FS85 at home, bought the FSA 90 home and could not get around the inbalance. Swapped for the FSA 135 R and the balance is perfect. I did not know that the motor was in the gear housing - way out of balance. Thank you for the information.

@@douglaslawncare2843 I went with the 90r with the motor in the head for the balance aspect and I'm ford master mechanic and any mechanic will tell you. Less moving parts equals less points of failure. That's why I went 90r as it doesn't have a driveshaft like the 135. Just adds another point of failure and maintenance. I agree change the head on the 90r and add some of stihl Cardon fibre line

@@brandonhiggs88 I understand your point about less moving parts. In theory you are right. But the extra moving parts in FSA 135 when compared to one of the smaller battery-powered models are just one shaft and one angle drive. Those parts are also used in most of Stihl's gas powered trimmers. I assume that they are well-engineered because Stihl had plenty of time to iteratively improve them over the years. In my opinion, the risks of these parts breaking down are so low that it does not make practical sense to consider it.

We have the 135R at the state park I work at so there is a lot of weed whipping to be done. Depending on what the operating speed is, we usually average out at about an hour of use per battery. They have the 4 battery charger pack in the shop. We also have Stihl gas trimmers, but a good amount of people gravitate to the battery-powered one due to the low noise factor. I can actually still listen to podcasts while working. The gas ones are faster though IMO. They are still more of a pain in the a$$ for me in troubleshooting because I got the bare minimum amount of training on all the equipment we have. 🙄 That's so irritating because I like knowing all the details and tips and tricks to do my job properly and EFFICIENTLY.
ETA: We usually take an extra battery with us when going out to do a large area like the day use part where we have a beach.

@@douglaslawncare2843 Gas in the new 4stroke stihl's is very minimal. A FS 111 RX will run circles around any of the battery trimmers. @ $413.00 msrp its still cheaper then buying 2 batteries a charger and the trimmer. According to Stihl a battery will charge 1500 charge cycles for the most powerful battery they have. For each charge cycle it will last for 20 mins with heavy use. So lets do the math 20 mins * 1500 charge cycles = 30,000 mins. 30,000 mins / 60 = 500 hours per battery. With the math above each charge cost $.40 plus electric cost. With a full tank (24 ounces) of 2stroke gas i can run the 111 rx easily 1.5 hours though heavy weeds and brush. That's roughly 7 hours per gallon. Sooo on electric trimmer $.40 a charge cycle * 3 cycles per hour = $1.20 a hour. $1.20 a hour * 7 hours = $8.40. So even if gas cost $6.00 a gallon your saving $2.40 per gallon of gas vs electric (not adding in charging cost) having a gas trimmer. Hope this helps.
