    Those two cameras are a great way to start out in wildlife photography. Especially the Canon as it can be found for 250-300 Euros used here, as opposed to 800-1000 for the D500. I got my used 7D II and the Sigma 150-600 Contemporary lens combined (1100 Euros after Sigma cashback) for less than the price of R7 body only (1500 Euros). Those 400 extra can easily get you a used 70-200 or a tripod, backpack, memory cards and extra batteries.

    Nikon D500 has 153 focus points & 99 of them are cross-type. user selectable is 55 & the rest points are in between to assist the user selected point. we photographers select focus point based on the composition & need of the subject. no one literary no one ever selects a point based on cross-type or not. Can you actually tell which point is cross-type by looking through the viewfinder?

    Try to read the specs next time - the D500 has 153 AF points, not 55...
