    The Xterra I’m with today… edited this video! He’s a miracle worker in my opinion. Also, yes, this was shot a while ago (we are 30 videos behind), but what we show you here is how this trail has always been. Of note, if you use OnX, this trail has been mislabeled for a long time as Radical Hill. This video shows the correct info and if you want a reliable trail info app, get TrailsOffroad. -Dewie

      That’s what these are here for. So far, most of our overland guides (filmed, not edited) have been easier trails with optional harder trails. We are trying to cover easier trails… I just didn’t know how to make them entertaining, but I think we’re figuring that out.

      @@coloradomallcrawlers Good to hear! I imagine it’s hard to keep viewers’ attention with pretty scenery alone. I do like the overlanding idea though. I don't understand what turned the other vehicles back 😂. This is something I wanted to do (run fairly stock / unmodified vehicles and see what they can get through) and while I enjoyed doing the trails and filming I always hated trying to edit footage and create dialogue for content. We just did that trail 2 days ago. Most of the shelf road is not narrow enough to be of concern if you have some experience with shelf roads and the off camber section didn't even register with me. Down at the bottom of that section there is a short length that is very narrow. It didn't bother me but I did pay attention to my line. It is not quite as intimidating as sections higher up because the amount of drop off is not nearly as much meaning the bottom of the hill is relatively close but it is still high enough to hurt if you rolled down it. (You need to pay attention to your driving when you are on any shelf road.) Once you get to the bottom it is a long bumpy road to reach the paved road. We didn't see much camping at the beginning of the trail, there are official campsites at the west end of the trail.

    • @coloradomallcrawlers
      @coloradomallcrawlers  Před měsícem +1

      No worries, it has just been mentioned in a few comments. Our videos are often late as our jobs make editing tough (I switch from working days to nights regularly). I was just getting concerned because it seems some people are using the videos for conditions. That was worrying me. These videos have never been intended as a conditions video… they’re what does this trail offer, is it actually worth doing, how to navigate it, and I try to make them entertaining enough that someone like my mom would watch to see a cool part of the world (that they likely will never see for themselves). Even when we get a video out immediately like Mount Baldy or Engineer last year, the conditions are usually changed within a few days. Baldy had the Rock Slide cleared, Engineer’s snow drift was cleared a day or so after filming. In fact, until recently, Webster still had the snow drift blocking handcart. So this video is most similar to what someone would encounter if they ran it now.

      I will air down for mud, snow, sand, wet rocks, or the need for additional traction on tough obstacles (most obstacles are not that tough tho). I’ve been offroading for decades so I rarely air down for comfort as the new vehicles like the JL are smooth like butter. Still, when I do air down, pressure will vary depending on what I need from them. Optimal pressure also varies based on your vehicle, tire, and weight. 18-22 is a safe number in a stock JL rubicon, but I have gone lower.

    I gave up less than half way into the video because of the background music. Sure wish CZcamsr's would break the habit of adding annoying, distracting noise to what is really good content. Appreciate the effort, but honestly, the muzak track is just too much.

    • @coloradomallcrawlers
      @coloradomallcrawlers  Před měsícem +6

      So I use to not have music in the videos… it’s the hardest part of an editing for me. However, videos don’t perform without music. We really only make money via adsense and altho this isn’t about money, editing is a lot of work. Some videos make peanuts and so I supplement with my paycheck to pay Drew (and still, it’s less than he truly deserves). Trust me, I wish we could skip adding music as it would make editing easier, but it doesn’t work for most viewers. What we try instead is to have music and just wheeling sounds mixed together. That’s usually done on trails with more obstacles as obstacles provide sounds. Unfortunately, scenic trails like this don’t provide enough sounds that are picked up by the microphone. Hope that makes more sense. -Dewie
