    In the first build I'm not sure why you take Fiendish Vigour when you get Dark Ones Blessing from the Fiend which gives you extra temporary hps which go up with each warlock level - and they don't stack. Admittedly, you have to kill something to get the Dark Ones Blessing, but that's not a big issue in BG3.

    I really like a 1 level dip in draconic sorcerer for warlock. It gives you con saving throw proficiency, a little extra hp, a free level 1 spell (I like Tasha's) plus shield and another spell with 2 level 1 spell slots. I never used hex on warlock because by the time you have 2 blasts a turn your spellslots are level 4 and if I get to choose between fireball and hex guess what I pick. But this way I have a use for my bonus action and just more resources in general.

    • @xenocide1307
      @xenocide1307 Před 10 měsíci

      I think the sorcerer dip is stronger with more level, specifically 2 level for the Fiend and 3 for The Great Old One/Archfey. The addition of metamagics to a Warlock is pretty nice, and the latter two subclasses don't really benefit as much from their level 10 subclass feature. However, I think the inverse of Sorcerer 9-10/Warlock 2-3 is the much more potent version of the multiclass for the obvious reasons of far more spell slots at your disposal.

    Personally one of my favorite Warlock builds is known in 5E as a Hexknight, Paladin/Warlock multiclass. A Paladin's divine smite can be used using the warlocks spell slots and those slots come back on a short rest. There are some spells missing from BG3 that are very good with a Hexknight but with what Larian has given us its still pretty good.

      There's some issues where the Divine Smites will use up Paladin slots before using Warlock slots. Pal/Sorc has been preferred so far for the higher level slots for Smites and things like Shield, which are absent from Pallocks without Hexblade.
      It's unfortunate that people say Hexblade is in BG3 just because of +cha on Blade Pact.

      honestly I was planning on having my first character be a a pure warlock however ended up respecing into this multiclass instead taking 2 levels. This multiclass honestly does so much if you're going blade warlock, it gives you proficiency in heavy armor, shields, con saves and smites which fixed the issues I was having which was getting hit too much, losing concentration (two things you would usually need to feats to fix) and not doing enough damage which just made my charcter feel real shitty to play. really feels like straight warlock was made to be played more as a ranged caster with eldritch blast.

      I'm also the skill/utility monkey of my co-op campaign right now, and I've got Warlock 2/Bard rest of the levels. To be fair, I think Sorcerer might be equally strong, and both dips really want 3 levels to be excellent, taking away from the rather decent Bard level 10. But overall, I think they both add enough to Bard to warrant considering to make up for the mediocre last two levels. Lore Bard/Tome Lock 3 has some insane options at their disposal for example (but Tomelock 5 also steps that up to a degree).

      I don't think he meant that. I think he's just waiting the Sorcerer video to talk about this. Beucase most Sorcerer + Warlock builds you get more Sorcerer levels than Warlock levels. So it's more apropriated in Sorcerer video, because it is really more a Sorcerer than a Warlock.

    • @LordAnubis85
      @LordAnubis85 Před 11 měsíci +2

      Adding 4 levels of Sorcerer to any Warlock build (for a feat but also spell slots / sorcery points) can really take a Warlock to the next level. You get (4) 1st level and (3) 2nd level sorcerer spell slots to cast your lower level spells without wasting your upleveled pact magic slots (so things like Hex which have no benefit from being upcast in BG3). Plus, you can convert spell slots to sorcerey points for metamagic. Or starting with 1st level fighter then taking warlock to 5 (for CON saves, armor proficiency and a fighting style) will really buff your Pact of the Blade melee warlock.

      Warlock is one of the best multiclasses, even more so in this game. The extra attack you get at level 5 Warlock from Pact of the Blade STACKS with extra attack given by other classes, meaning that you will be able to attack up to 3 times each turn (Normally reserved to Fighter at 11, but you can do this from 10 with the multiclass). Warlock 5 and Paladin 7 is probably the best option, considering both scale with Charisma. Oathbreaker's Aura of Hate is essentially the same as Warlocks level 12 Eldritch Invocation Lifedrinker, giving up to +5 damage based on Charisma modifier. Aura of Warding is an option as well for the half damage to all spell damage. Aura of Protection at level 7 is just amazing. Divine Smite, Hex for all the extra hits. Eldritch Blast for ranged.

      I do suggest some Multiclassing combos in the Warlock Class Guide, and yes you can Multiclass them. Paladin is a heck of a good pairing for instance. However, I just showcased that build in the Paladin Builds video, and didn't want to do that again, and I think as a new player it might be easy to mess up Multiclassing as a Warlock, so I didn't show them here. Definitely will in late game guides. Also, I kind of wanted to show the Spells of the Warlock a bit, and was easier to do that by focusing on different aspects of the Warlock.

      If you're wanting to be the best eldritch blast/scorching ray machine known to man, I recommend taking 3 levels of sorcerer (any sub class but I like tempest for the extra movement personally) to get quickened spell and just go nuts with it. Turn 1, cast hex on the enemy and hit them with a cast of eldritch blast. Turn two, use quickened spell to cast scorching ray with your highest level spell slot as a bonus action (up to 6 beams with a level 5 spell slot and each one procs hex) and then do it again with your action. You can grab a 4th level in sorcerer with the build if you really want the extra feat, but I think it's worth missing that to hit 9 levels of warlock and get access to 5th level spell slots.
      I also recommend taking sorcerer as your starting class to get proficiency in constitution saves so you don't have to keep wasting spell slots on hex cause you missed the save for concentration.

    Warlocks are a fund class for me, and since it was my first ever D&D class I chose it to be my first ever BG3 class as well, just because, I dont' know. though since Druids and Bards have become favored classes in D&D and Clerics are pretty amazing in this game.
    as for how I playe dmy Warlock, it was a mix of your first build at first, using fire spells (scorching ray was a go to) and relying on Hex and invocations that helped my eldrict blast like Maddening Hex & agonizing blast, whouth a few of those could work with scorchign ray which was a go to spell early on, then I'd rely on eldrict blast once out of Pact slots. SInce my buddy had a shadow sorcerer who culd cast darkness with sorcery points and see in it/through it, I pick up devil's sight invocation and used that to where he started casting it on one of the object I carried like my weappon or shield, and he'd follow me with misty step around and we'd cast range spells from within that darkness, and since he concentrated on darkness I would concentrate on hex or another AOE spell. Later in teh game, I started to use more AOE spells and began swaping in things like hunger of hadar and sickening radiance, and was a build more like your 3rd one. Great old One is a great build, and I do also light archfey for the charm abilities.
    ONe thign I disagree with you is the false life invocation. I won't chosse it, and I would ONLY if you could replace it later on, but I don't think you can. It become pointless pretty early, and Devil's sight does give you darkvision in both magical and non-magical darkness so ifyou chose a human for the extra skill, or another class without darkvision, this fixes it fairly early. Also, you can see in Darkness and dark spells like Hunger of Hadar. Again, this is a disagreement, and if I am wrong and you can swap invocations, as youc an in D&D, then it may be worth to pick up early on,and then replacw tih either Devil's sight once you have darkness or maybe Repeling blast or somethign else.
    Do enjoy your build guides. Never thought to multi-class Warlock and bard, but in BG3 it makes perfect sense since an extra short rest is game changing as I discovered using Lae'zel (fighter" and Wyll (warlock & fighter) in my party, as long with Shadowheart who regains her channel divinity avility on short rest. That's a good party for a Bard, BTW. Bard, Fighter, Warlock & Cleric.

    Unless they changed it since release, Armor of Agathys wears off when you lose the temporary HP, not until long rest like the description says. I took this on my warlock at creation, used it once, then ditched it at first level up. The temp HP did save my life, but the spell wore off and didn't damage enemies anymore.

    My party is (was) set for RP, an attempt to kill high level creatures failed to the point where i needed to respec and cast a different party. This was over 20 to 30 failures (adjusting spells, miss clicks, yadda). The character with the penalty landed TWO hits the entire time. The second to last attempt, and the last attempt, to which i defeated the enemies (opened with Eldritch Blast). The course of the saves and final win the character was a meat bag absorbing shots.

      Yes in a way but only from scrolls. Wizards are the only spell casters than can learn spells from scrolls. A Warlock/Wizard combo solves the biggest weakness of the Warlock which is lack of spell diversity. Still, there are A LOT of scrolls in the game so every time you find one, give them to your Warlock11/Wizard 1 to learn or in my case, my Swords Bard 3/Thief Rogue 3/Blade Warlock 5/Evocation Wizard 1. 🙂And no, I don't care about lack of feats, additional ability scores or high level spells, that's what cheat mods are for.

    @trolleurdurden5534 Před 11 měsíci +6

    I'm currently Warlock 10 in my playthrough and I'm a little bit disappointed by the experience. The issue isn't really the class itself, in a vacuum it's very interesting and fun to play, but the amount of items allowing other classes to emulate some of the warlock's strongest features.
    For example, there's a ring or amulet which allows you to add your spellcasting modifier to the elemental damage of your cantrip, which means that a sorcerer can suddenly have offensive cantrips almost as powerful as the eldritch blast, maybe even more so when you factor in the feat allowing elemental cantrips to bypass elemental resistance and never roll 1.
    I also see a lot of questionable multiclassing options flying around, like Warlock 2/Sorcerer 10. Why not go Sorcerer 12 instead, attain the 6th level spells, get one more ASI and take the feat giving you Warlock cantrips and 1st level spells?

    My favorite multi-class in BG3 so far is a Fiend Warlock/Barbarian. With the changes in BG3 adding to what is an otherwise mediocre 5e multiclass at best. With Armor of Agathys lasting until long rest, and the additional damage from rage not requiring strength, you can get a powerful barbarian that can rush in with a bunch of temp HP that retaliates when enemies strike you. Since the rage reduces incoming damage and the retaliation damage from AoA lasting until your temp HP is depleted, you can dish out a lot of damage by rushing melee combatants.
    Even when your AoA is depleted, a raging barbarian can make great use of the replenishing temp HP from the fiend warlocks level 1 ability.
    Hex also works with melee attacks if you're out of rages, and you can pick up frenzy barbarian for an additional hit as a bonus action, or get resistance from more damage types with a wildheart barbarian to make the AoA potentially last longer. You aquire extra attack from Warlock Pact of the Blade at level 5 anyway etc. As an added bonus Fiend Warlock will give you Fire Shield when you aquire 5th level spells on your Warlock. 1-3 Levels barbarian depending on preference, rest warlock. Enjoy, i am.
