    The olives grown in Spain produce oil with the highest amount of hydroxytyrosol which is a potent antioxidant and gives the oil its flavor.

    • @MastersofOliveOil
      @MastersofOliveOil  Před 4 lety +2

      Dear Mr. Bob, thanks a lot for your interest. Your consideration is very interesting for consumers, we need to be more precise to make a very good sharing.
      1) all the olives coming from every country have a lot of polyphenols if well treated. This means that what you wrote about olives from Spain it' s real in the meantime it's important to explain that the high rate of polyphenols can be found in EVOOs come form all over the world;
      2) hydroxytyrosol is one of the antioxidants present in Olives and a higher quantity is present in the olive tree Lives, higher than in the olive fruits;
      3) aromas and flavors or smells in EVOOs are due to more than 250 different molecules and they are non specifically comes from hydroxytyrosol that is of the many components.
      4) to read more and understand better about the powerful healthy effects of hydroxytyrosol on our lives I strongly suggest to see this scientific article published in US NATIONAL LIBRARY OF MEDICINE NATIONAL INSTITUTE OF HEALTH 2018 > www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC5874578/

      Thanks for the info. I obtained the info on hydroxytyrosol from a book written by Nicholas Perricone, MD. The title is, "The Perricone Prescription" and the info on olive oil is on page 69 that discusses olive oil from Spain. I always try to have 2 or 3 tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil per day.

    • @MastersofOliveOil
      @MastersofOliveOil  Před 3 lety +2

      Dear Mr. Dee Andrews, first of all, thanks a lot for your interest and your question. I would like to reply in 2 steps. First I want to ask: " who has been saying - the best olive oil comes from Spain because there is something in the soil that is lacking in the soil in Italy.? this is very important because as you for sure know any declaration take importance in the function of the authority that is saying or writing it. Second I want to give you my 20 years of experience in the olive oil world. All people must have clear that there are good producing areas for olive trees and for olive oil placed in the optimal growing area of the olive plant.
      Please have a look at the video: czcams.com/video/pkb0cxH5zi4/video.html
      And these can be easily verified tasting EVOOs coming from all the planet as I (and many other pro- tasters do) every year. I can assure you there are amazing, top premium EVOOs coming from all over the world. So it's a simple and incorrect generalization of the declaration up. You can have great quality EVOOs from all countries and especially where olive trees are growing since 2000/3000/4000 years it means that the soil and the area are perfectly useful for good production.

      @@MastersofOliveOil Thank
      You! Are these Producers using the old method of the stones to extract the oil? And are they using only the mature olives?

    • @MastersofOliveOil
      @MastersofOliveOil  Před 3 lety +1

      Dear Ms. Callejo, I am sure all these Producers are not using the Old Extracting method with stone crushers and presses. This is a method 5.000 years old and nowadays is out the history. All the best Producers in the world that want to produce top/premium EVOOs are using green olives not ripe olives. Keep always in mind that, to produce a top-quality EVOO you should use olives with less than a 30% ripeness index.

      dear Elsa&lisa thanks a lot for your question. Yes of course I have information about Moroccan Olive Oils; as a professional taster and quality masters blender, I have to know EVOOs from all over the world. I reply to you as any pro should do: we can find amazing EVOOs in any producer country and we can find bad quality oils in any producer country. It depends on the professionality, the passion and the commitment of the producers we face with. So Morocco has invested a lot during the last 20 years in Olive Oil farming and today is possible to find modern mills and good quality products also there. I have tasted olive oils from all over the world.
    By far the best olive oil I have tasted was in the early 80s, produced in a small town in the Peloponnese called Petrina.
    It was brought to Canada by the owners of the grove. There are no words to describe it. The color, the depth of flavor, the aromas,
    it was as if made for Zeus himself.
    Unfortunately, I've had the oil from the same region recently and it was a comparatively big disappointment.

      Dear Ms. Veronica, thanks a lot for your question. It's difficult to give you a very specific reply just because Kalamata olives can give very different EVOOS profile results depending on what is the production period or better depending on the ripeness of the fruits we are going to use for producing the oil. To give you specific feedback I should have a clear idea of what kind of kalamata oil you are referring to and you are used to. I can say that I have in mind some kalamata oils very green and with fresh mown grass smell and there are many oils from different countries that can have similar smells for example. please send me a more specific idea and I might be more specific especially if your purpose is to know what type of oils can be an alternative to your kalamata oil idea. Otherwise please explain your purpose and I will try to help you with pleasure. AM

      Dear Mark, first of all thanks for writing your contribute. First question: is 4 dollars per liter or half a liter? In any case in Italy and Spain is quite normal to find EVOO in the supermarkets at less then 4 dollars per liter during offers and also outside. Of course the price is low but it's possible. About the quality I should taste the sample to give you a serious and professional advice, anyway if the Oli has a clear pungent and it also has some bitterness this could be a signal for a acceptable or honorable quality ( I cannot say more for sure without a test - in fact sometimes could happen that Oils with pungent and bitterness may have defects and in these cases they aren't EVOO - but again we cannot know without a direct professional testing). Last but not least when a I do teach in courses I often say this: " if you like a product it's ok , it can satisfy your tastes!". Have a nice day. AM

We have online courses for that purpose, introduce customers into the olive oil world. Regards AM

The fact that, for example there are no reviews from Marocco, is just why none producer took part in MOOOIC. This doesn't mean that we don not appreciate products from that specific Country. @MastersofOliveOil  Před 3 lety

      Dear Jeff, thanks for your interest and your question. Here you have the prices of the 3 Super Extra Virgin Olive Oils reviewed in the video: 1) Podere di Pieve from Italy is priced Euro 13 per bottle 500 ml; 2) Knolive Epicure is priced at Euro 18,95 per bottle 500ml ; 3) Valvendero Hojiblanca has priced Euro 20 per bottle ml 500. All the prices are correct and not expensive if we consider the top quality of the products. Every consumer should think about EVOO buying. When we buy a Premium quality EVOO we are going to buy a super hedonistic and healthy product and more you have to think that a bottle can stay in a kitchen from one to two weeks so if we compare it's the price with a bottle of wine medium quality we can spend about 6/10 /15 euro and it will stay on the table just half an hour there is no comparison! I strongly suggest to all world customers " buy better EVOOs and be ready to pay the right value for them !". All my best AM

    • @MastersofOliveOil
      @MastersofOliveOil  Před 2 lety

      Dear Mr Steve thanks a lot for your interesting questions. I try to give you professional feedback. 1) Big Companies must make profits and they also sell sometimes at low prices so as in all the market the question is "how can you expect to buy premium products for cheap prices". In other words, any customer must wait for back quality for what he is paying. The best choice for customers is to learn how to distinguish good oils from low quality and then they can decide. 2) How long.... any bottle has different shelflife expectations, it depends first on the quality of the EVOO inside then we have to take care to store the bottles in a dark place at a temperature possible below 20° Celsius. For any further questions, it will be a pleasure to reply to all curious and interested people.

    • @MastersofOliveOil
      @MastersofOliveOil  Před 2 lety

      @@Birdylockso Dear Mr Steve good question, you are a very clever customer. We can say at least 2 different comments about it. First of all, we have to consider the "global warming effect", think about just 50 years ago no one might have imagined that in the south of England should be possible to grow a vineyard and today they do and produce wines! In other words, the growth of temperatures let ripe earlier year after year the olives quite all over the world. The second consideration is about what wrote: it's in general real that a correct early crop time can give us a better premium quality EVOOs. BUT be careful we also do not have to exaggerate with the EARLY CROP because we have to keep into consideration some crucial factors. Might be something I will talk about in a future video. Best AM

    Generally the 'best quality' olive oil may be produced in Crete. However each harvest will vary from year to year - obviously! The internet is littered with 'experts' claiming they know which is the 'best' olive oil. Only by visiting every olive grove on the Planet and studying a batch analysis conducted by a recognised laboratory could you even begin to compare and judge quality and taste.
