I saw Katya at the Rocking K store outside Tucson on Day 2 of the AZTR. She'd just come off one 100+ degree day and was heading for another (and I didn't envy her going up Redington Rd in the heat of the day since the dirt is light, reflective, and hot). I took a picture (and tried to stay out of her way) as she was loading water and asked how much she had and she said "9 liters". Just phenomenal how strong she is and I'm glad she had a great result. Fantastic interview, Neil.
Really great interview! My partner and I watched Katya’s dot through the whole race and were excited to wake up in Georgia in time to see her second place finish. Katya is doing a solid for the Scientist nerds. Love watching the women in this race pulling together and crushing it.
a recreational commuter living in the mnt's, this is all new to me and far more interesting with your interviews - you know the sport - and the interviews have a natural flow. so cool listening to Katya and her solutions to the challenges. a great show. thank you.
The AZTR keeps getting harder. I'd say it can make a case for being the hardest bike race in the world. I raced w/ Alice in the 2015 CTR which was the 3ed of the triple crown races at that time & she blew my mind. I'd have never thought there was a next level, but Katya surely has taken it there.
Totally agree, I dont think I could even imaging pushing that much, I really liked the flow of the 750, it was the perfect amount of suffering IMO. These folks tackling this new version are badass, bottom line!
