The Bush Company Rooftop Tent Review

  • I have owned the rooftop tent for roughly 3-4 months at the time of filming this review. This is an early review having step in it for around 30-35 nights. This is an honest and unbiased review. I bought this tent with my own money, so I am not influenced in any way.
    I love this tent. For my type of travel, especially with filming for my youtube channel, this tent has been a blessing. I would highly recommend!!!!

    Nice review, appreciate a honest opinion from a customer rather than sponsored channels. I've been looking for few months now and think I am going to go with the Bush Company RTT. It is one of the heavier tents, do you notice it alot while driving, wind noise etc?

    Hey George you have had this awhile now and it’s the first time I have heard of this one but after the vid been checking it out, I had Alucab sort of as my go to, iKamper and JB etc, but like the aspect of this and AluC for mounting say a solar panel on top it etc,
    How how you found it re condensation eg any, none etc.
    My only other point aim saying up is always weight, AC is 60kg but not sure if that inclu ladder etc and has bigger side entry sorts like that
    where as this the Bush Master is 90kg but inclu ladder?
    cheers 🤙

    • @UncagedExpeditions
      @UncagedExpeditions  Před 4 lety

      Maverick224 I love mine. The bush company is the best one on the market in my opinion. I have a load rating of 200kg on the roof of my tent which means I can load it with nearly anything I want. I didn’t notice that much of a difference in the handling of mine when I put it on. I have seen a few of the others on the market now and I would still choose mine if I had to buy again. You will always get some condensation inside of any tent but as long as you leave a window open a little, it’s pretty good. I don’t get a lot. If you are in the market for one, go have a look at all of them in person so you can make an educated decision.

    Hi George , nice video. Love your enthusiasm for all things expedition ! Great rig also.
    Can you please tell me what the wind rating is on that Bush Company tent ? If you get stuck in a wind storm at what point do you have to pack it down and take refuge in the truck? Also is there room for a mattress topper like the Alu cab? Thoughts on mattress comfort of this one versus the Alu cab which I think has 75 mm mattress ?
    Thanks George.
    Keep up the good work 👍🏼

    • @UncagedExpeditions
      @UncagedExpeditions  Před 4 lety +1

      lee perry Hey Lee. Thanks buddy. I don’t know what the wind rating is, but I have been in some stormy conditions and never had an issue. One thing I would suggest is to have the closed end facing the wind and it will act like a deflector. There is an emergency support pole which you can use and then the roof will never close. I haven’t laid in the Alu Cab but I find the mattress very comfortable. There is room for a topper. I highly recommend this tent

      Thanks George I’ll check it out. Is that the blue one ? Does he have a you tube channel on it ? If it’s the one I’m thinking of it’s pretty hardcore and looks great. There’s an article on it I think. I’ve wrapped mine in matt green vinyl. Looks very military. Vinyl still looks great after 4 years. Been a bulletproof truck. Can’t believe some are worth more second hand now than they were new. Looking forward to your next vid 👌🏼

    I have had mine for about 3 months longer than you George. I agree with you on the quality of materials, they are brilliant!
    Have you had yours in a decent rain storm yet? I have had a couple of problems with leaking but Simon from The Bush Company has the Victorian stockist looking into it. I am impressed so far with the after sales care!! It is really amazing to sleep in though and I am 6 foot 5 inches........I have mine on top of a patrol and have rated springs so no body roll due to the tents relatively light weight. Lets see how we go with time huh. Thanks for sharing mate

      Hey Viktor. I have slept through a couple of storms and snow and no leaks as yet. They really are a great company to deal with. Always a pleasure to chat with them. I haven’t needed any warranty work done but I would assume that wouldn’t be an issue. I’m glad you have had a good experience with them also. I hope you get it all sorted out quickly. • @UncagedExpeditions
      @UncagedExpeditions  Před 5 lety

      C’est Moi I think they are about the same price. I prefer it to the alucab for a few reasons. 1- the awning is larger and covers more area. 2- the roof on the inside of the mine is dark where as the alucab is white. That would get very dirty and look crappy pretty quickly.
