Learning braille is similar to learning another language. It can take years to truly master it. The length of time it takes you to learn enough braille to be useful is dependent on how often you practice. Daily practice will get you there much faster. If you want to keep it simple, you can learn non-contracted braille which can be helpful for labeling items around your home or reading signage in public. However, to be truly braille literate, you would need to learn contracted braille which would allow you to read books. Check out hadley.com for great free courses to get started.

Thank you so much! I’m relatively new to being blind parentheses about five years of not being able to read things on food labels) and this week my refrigerator was way too much out of control. I searched for help with my fridge and you popped up! :-) I’ve sent a link to your video to my family that lives here now. Our two youngest girls and my husband. I think this will really work and I especially love that she want to have not only the blind person involved but also their family.

Hi Jazz, your videos are terrific and I find them very informative for the audience I serve. I would like to connect with you off CZcams. Do you have an email I could use?
