Looks great Steve , as you know we did new kitchen and bathroom at the tail end of last year. I hand my new double garage built 5 years ago for my sierra cosworth, then I sold it😢 and bought my van haven transporter🤟😀 sods law I built it to house a cossie and not a transporter so as a result my transporter lives on the driveway 😥can't wait to see your new garage mate ,you sure you can't convince the wife to let you do the garage 1st 😀
Thanks Shane, alot of work ahead😬😂 but will be worth it in the end and potentially the new double will work out better all around as its also longer inside than the existing. I did see you had just done all you kitchen etc..👌 shame about the van not fitting in. guessing the height is the issue as mine would not fit if i had anything on my roof
Hi steve we have a 1920s London bungalow with a shared access driveway to the rear garages, my neighbours had there's knocked down years ago so don't use the driveway, I had my old garage demolished and the new 40 square ft garage built behind the house ,I had a proper wash bay put in outside the garage with 6 super bright LED work lights fitted outside the garage so I could clean the cars late into the evening. I had a lovely set of bespoke by fold gates manufactured to suit the garden..its a brilliant space inside and outside the garage only problem I have now is the width between the two houses, my van is too width to go down the side of the house .it was tight going in the cossie but I'm a driving god so it wasn't a problem 🤪 its proper annoying now That I have absolutely everything I need to clean the van down the garage but have to resort to the driveway to get my cleaning fix .one day I will convince the wife to let us move a a 1 bedroom house with a 400 square ft garage would suffice 🤪

I saw an entire road on social few days ago that features a small bungalow of sorts with a 10 car garage to the front👌. That sounds just what your after 👍😂

Steve when you eventually do the garage consider using the one big garage door and no centre pillar . I’ve just modified my double garage to this configuration , I find it much more useable.
Yes this is something I did heavily consider as it would be way better to have one door. Only reason we have moved away is that because the other door is more like a 1.5 it makes the gable ends look out of proportion for the house so it is approved now with the 2 doors.

It might be worth looking at something like big yellow storage temporarily, i don’t know how much it costs though,also a cheap option for the conifer hedge would be a farmer or ag contractor with a flail mower to knock it right back, it looks horrendous when it’s first done but in the spring it will green up & grow back lovely.
Yes that would be an idea👍 going to make my best attempt to de clutter loads and see how much i can fit into the single for the main build and then I ma have to get a storage facility when the double garage gets built.

I hope that you’ve got it written and signed that you can have your new garage once the house is finished. I’ve recently moved to a big do-er upper with a big double garage that was going to be set up as a workshop once we moved in. 2 years later I’m still working on the house and can’t find half my tools, ending up buying new ones because I can’t get in the garage for the mess. My wife just doesn’t get it 🤦🏼♂️ if the garage was organised things would get done quicker. All the car cleaning stuff is buried and I’m fed up of going down the road to wash the van. But it’s like they say, happy wife happy life 😂

I know what that’s like when you can’t get to or find the stuff you own to carry out a job. Had this issue in our previous house.

I had this on a X5 and I think it’s the speed humps doing it.

Yeah that’s the million dollar question right there! Phase one also included a brand new boiler, relocated to a new area too so phase one likely to be somewhere between 50-60k and that’s with some favours called in lol🤦🏼♂️.
