Welcome to the world of symphonic metal! And thank you for checking this legendary band, performing at Wacken Open Air in 2013, together with Floor Jansen, the 3rd and present female singer of the band, in front of an 82K+ audience.
About the instrumental and vocal added parts - it's good to know they recorded their orchestral and vocal back tracks with prestigious institutions as London Philharmonic Orchestra. London's The Metro Voices choir group and London's Young Musicians Children's Choir as their regular partners.
As I saw, you liked the powerful performance of the band. Hope you'll continue on this path.
Since this is your first Nightwish reaction, it is my duty to give you the [updated] short history of the band concentrated by Ann Waychoff, one of the biggest Nightwish fan who has since passed away (and I am doing this in her memory):
" Nightwish was started in 1996.They are considered a Symphonic Metal band, with a female main singer. They are from Finland.
Tuomas Holopainen, the keyboard player, composes and writes the lyrics for 95% of their music. [The 1st Bassist of the band was Sami Vanska, he was with them until 2001. The 2nd one was Marco Hietala, as Bassist and vocals, since 2001 to 2020. He recently announced his retirement both from the band and the public life for the next year at least - we'll see what the future brings to us. Then very recently (May 2021) Jukka Koskinen became the 3nd Bassist of the band, for at least the Human :II: Nature tour] And there is the guitarist Emppu Vuorinen . Then there is Troy Donockley from UK who is a multi-instrumentalist and vocals. Jukka Nevalainen is the drummer. In 2015 due to Jukka's health issues Kai Hahto became the drummer and as of now is a permanent addition.
Nightwish has had three singers. 1st one was Tarja Turunen (Operatic vocals). She was with them until 2005. The 2nd one was Anette Olzon from Sweden (Poppy, strong vocals). She was with them until 2012.The 3rd and current singer is Floor Jansen, from Netherlands (power, operatic, soprano.....most versatile) - you just heard her.
There are live concerts that you should use depending on what era. From Wishes to Eternity and End of an Era (Tarja), Montreux Festival live 2012 and Exit Festival (Anette), Live at Wacken 2013, Live at Wembley, Live at Tampere, Vehicle of Spirit, Decades live (Floor). I hope this helps.

Floor Jansen is a vocal athlete with incredible range, versatility, vocal stamina, and stage presence. She is a spinto soprano with a range of almost four octaves (D3-G#5-F6). When listening to her sing, it is apparent that she has spent the better part of her life fine-tuning her instrument with help from several vocal coaches. Floor can sing in multiple languages and genres and is a Master vocal coach. It is incredible how she is able to take any song from any genre and make it her own. This woman is a true gift to her craft and an incredible addition to a band that has always been great until 2013 when they officially hired the undisputed Queen of Metal, Floor Jansen, making Nightwish the greatest band on the planet. Floor jansen the Queen of metal ♥is a classic trained and professional voice coach with at least 20 years experience and can do anything from death metal growling to high opera notes and different styles and languages, her previous bands After Forever, Northward and Revamp and she was also featured in several Ayreon live shows 😀❤

I have to say that it's an understatement when one says "Floor has good pipes..." when in fact she has a massive instrument and total master of that instrument. While others sing, she give a masterclass on each of her performances. Check out her work on the Dutch tv show Beste' Zangers. Nightwish is her day job and they will be in your area soon.

Just wait when she gets in full Dutch Windmill mode with her hair. She added the ending herself and this song has become their anthem since. As I am a Flooraholic from Utrecht, The Netherlands, here is some background information on her.
She joined the band 'After Forever' in 1997 at the age of 16. My favourite song is 'Energize Me'. They made a very beautiful music video out of that. Floor attended the then new Rock Academy in 1999 and graduated in 2003. She also spent some time at the Conservatory to learn some more classical singing. 'After Forever' disbanded in 2009 and Floor started her own band 'Revamp' from scratch. Here she experimented with different vocal styles within one song, such as from full operatic to serious growls in seconds. The songs 'Disdain' and 'Wild Card' are good examples.
Besides managing a band on her own she also did a lot of vocal coaching and as she is a perfectionist, she wants to do everything at 100%+. Eventually she had to pay the price and got a burnout. She had just recovered when end of september 2012 the call came from Nightwish to fill in for the remainder of the North American Tour at first as their second singer Annette got ill. Floor had just 48 hours to learn the whole setlist. There is a documentary made of this world tour ('Please learn the setlist in 48 hours'). The lyrics of the songs of Nightwish are very poetic and the music as a whole is very challenging, but Floor pulled it off and she stayed for the whole world tour, culminating is this iconic Wacken 2013 Open Air festival which set new standards in Open Air concerts. It was obvious that the match Nightwish and Floor was made in Walhalla, so she became a permanent member of the band as the relationship between Nightwish and Annette was strained even before she got ill.
Floor continued to perform with 'Revamp'for a couple of years, but it became clear that she could not combine the two for much longer, so 'Revamp' disbanded in 2016. Floor did a side project called 'Northward' where she dived into the Hard Rock scene. The song 'While Love Died' is a must see.
Her stunning performances on the Dutch TV show 'Beste Zangers 2019' gave her at last some more recognition in her home country where she was relatively unknown until then. There are numerous guest appearances with other bands to find on CZcams. To see how to get a crowd of metalheads silenced and in awe watch her featuring with the band 'Epica' and the song 'Stabat Mater Dolorosa', and to see her in full opera mode, watch her rendition of 'O Mio Babbino Caro' from Puccini.
As live concerts were cancelled and home isolation due to the Covid situation, Floor discovered CZcams in the last year and a half and uploaded many interesting videos on her channel. Mindblowing covers, chats with her idols and other singers, vocal masterclasses, personal insights and so much more. She even made a video reacting to herself singing this at Wacken. Lots of technical info and some memories of her starting with Nightwish. Also her Fan Friday videos are hilarious. Just unpack some of the presents she left there. Floorgasm alert!
Floor is a high sensitive person, so peace and quiet is as important for her. Living by the woods in Sweden with her husband Hannes Van Dahl (drummer of the band Sabaton), daughter Freja (turned 4 years last march), a horse and pony, a dog and a bunch of cats, she found this.

Nightwish is a glorious rabbit hole of awesome, with world class song-writing, musicianship and arguably (or unarguably to most who've heard her enough😉) the best female vocalist alive today (maybe ever), the Valkyrie Queen of metal herself Floor Jansen (pronounced Yansen). Floor is a classically trained soprano and has a vocal range of more than 3 octaves (D3 to F6+).
Floor is the third female vocalist that Nightwish have had (and my personal favourite), she was only with them on tour for 10 months at this point and officially joined the band in 2013, she is still with them today.
The other vocalists are -
Tarja Turunen - (1996-2005) - (Finland) - Very operatic focused vocals.
Anette Olzon - (2007-2012) - (Sweden) - More pop-centric vocals.
Floor Jansen - (2012-Present) - (Netherlands) - Extremely diverse vocals, from deep growls to full on opera.

Floor herself is Dutch and is another glorious goldmine of awesome as she has a lot of non-Nightwish related stuff (including 2 other bands, After Forever & ReVamp) that she has done that is all pretty amazing as well. She is also an absolutely lovely, funny, smart and grounded person (in fact all the band members are exceedingly down to earth individuals). She has her own channel here on CZcams where she regularly posts covers of songs.
The band was formed in 1996 by lead songwriter/composer and keyboardist Tuomas Holopainen.
The name of the genre they generally belong to is Symphonic Metal but their discography is extremely varied.
The "Symphonic" backing tracks of their music is composed in the majority by Tuomas and performed by the London Philharmonic Orchestra.
This was the 13th song in this particular set, Floor is belting notes like that the entire set.
Nighwish are almost always better experienced with live versions of their songs if at all possible.
Most new reactors are better off sticking with the Wacken 2013 set to begin with as it offers a taste of a lot of what Nightwish has to offer, they have multiple concerts though all of which are superb.
Some suggestions for more songs for you to continue your journey would be Storytime, Ever Dream, Nemo, Romanticide, I Wish I had an Angel, Song of Myself, Ghost River, Dark Chest of Wonders, I Want My Tears Back and Amaranth all from Wacken 2013 (pronounced Vacken).
Saying that, anything from Wacken 2013 is golden really to start, there's a reason why that set is pretty legendary at this point, 82,000 people were in attendance.
Beware of some messed up slowed down versions of the Wacken 2013 songs as they can take the energy right out of the performances, just check the comments on them and I'm sure someone will mention if it's a slowed down version.
Your choice obviously but I'd avoid Poet and the Pendulum and The Greatest Show on Earth for now until you are more familiar with the band and it's history, they will make a lot more sense and be more enjoyable for you that way.

Floor Jansen is called the Valkyrie Goddess of Metal and Empathy. Floor Jansen is a soprano, with a range of more than 4 octaves (Eb2 to F6)
Jansen was the singer of the Dutch metal band After Forever from 1997 to early 2009. From 1999 she studied at the Rockacademie in Tilburg with classmates Jacqueline Govaert and Danny Vera, where she graduated in 2003. In addition to her activities at After Forever, she gave singing lessons. She plays guitar, piano and flute. On May 5, 2010, she presented her new band ReVamp, which was disbanded in September 2016.
From 1 October 2012 Jansen replaced Anette Olzon as singer of Nightwish during the Imaginaerum World Tour. On October 9, 2013, it was announced that she would be the group's regular new front singer. In 2015, Nightwish released the album Endless Forms Most Beautiful with Jansen as lead singer. Nightwish's second studio album with Jansen as front singer, Human. :II: Nature., was released in April 2020.
This was recorded at the 2013 Wacken ( pronounced Vahken) Open Air festival in Germany in front of an audience of 82,000 people. The fiery bull head is the symbol of the festival.

Probably one of the most reacted to performances here on yt, and rightly so. The music/art that this band has been creating for over 20 years is still unparalleled in a genre that they created themselves. To put it mildly, not the worst choice to start with music reactions. And right away, very good, if I may say so.

This was the world famous Wacken music festival, in Germany. Floor really isn't as hot as some other female vocalists, like Simopne or Sharon, but her skills are incredible. Also, she is a bit of an amazon, with huge muscles. The backing symphony and choir pieces were recorded ahead of time, and triggered by keyboard. You may want to order the Blu-Ray of this concert, one version comes with a documentary disc. This song was about the middle of the performance. Some other songs have stuff like ELECTRIC BAGPIPES! Note, this is "open -air".

This was the Wacken Open Air Festival Concert back in 2013, and there were over 82,000 people at this concert. the current singer is from the Netherlands, and a majority of the band members are from Finland, although the woodwinds player is from England. They released their first album in 1996.
SO WHAT STYLE OF MUSIC ACTUALLY IS THE BAND NIGHTWISH?
Nightwish is actually one of the groups credited with the CREATION of the Metal Sub-genre of Symphonic Metal (according to Wikipedia!). Symphonic Metal in general only borrows the hard driving double kick drums, and the hard grungy style guitars and bass from Metal. However, in SYMPHONIC METAL the guitar is not the primary focal point, it is in fact the keyboards and their movie-scorish sounding orchestral sound. The keyboard player Tuomas Holopainen (first name pronounced like TOH-mas) is the composer of all of the music arrangements and is the leader of the group. He is a personal huge lover of movie scores, which is where a lot of the movie-scorish style sound of the keyboards comes from (which is the primary focal point of most all of Nightwish’s music instrumentally). In Symphonic Metal 90-95% of all Symphonic Metal bands are all female fronted. Currently only Kamelot, Serenity, and a hand full of other Symphonic Metal bands even have male singers, and they are normally referred to as Symphonic Power Metal. The most popular Symphonic Metal bands are Nightwish, Epica, Kamelot, and Within Temptation. When Symphonic Metal first started the female lead singers used an operatic style of singing, but as the Genre has evolved over the last 20+ years in the UK since Nightwish came long in 1996, they have adopted more of a contemporary style of singing like Floor uses currently.
Floor Jansen (last name is pronounced Yansen because she is Dutch) is the 3rd and current Lead Singer since Nightwish released its first album in 1996, and she is from the Netherlands. One of the most inspiring stories for me is that when Floor did this concert with Nightwish at the Wacken Open Air Festival in 2013, she had not been with Nightwish for very long, she was technically still a fill-in for this particular tour and was announced as a full member shortly after this. Nightwish was in the middle of the Imaginearum World Tour when they parted ways with their second Lead Singer Anette Olzen from Sweden, and Tuomas called Floor from the United States and asked her if she could learn their entire set list in 48 hours and then fill-in for them for the rest of the tour. Within the next few short months, the band posted their first Official Live Performance video since they part ways with Tarja Turunen their first lead singer at the end of October 2005. The simple fact that she was only about a year or year and a half removed from a total burn out and over came that to end up being the lead singer for Nightwish about a year or so later, is truly an amazing and inspiring story for me.
At the end of this Imaginearum World Tour, (As Floor tells the story in an interview) the Band pulled both Floor Jansen and Troy Donockley aside and asked them to be official members of the band. Floor said both her and Troy both had tears in their eyes. Troy had been a guest musician with the band on such official videos like The Islander, but never an official member of the band. The rest as they say ... is history.

20. Greatest Show On Earth - I would RESEARCH THIS SONG BEFORE REACTING TO IT if youve never heard it before. This song is about the creation of the universe, the big bang, and evolution. Be ready because this is a 21 min thrill ride that only feels like 3 or 4 minutes long. Also, I think its a good idea to look for the Tampere Finland show because of a surprise during the performance and it has lyrics so you can follow along. • Emppu Vuorinen - (name is pronounced Ehm-poo) All guitars and has been with the band since its inception
• Troy Donockley - uilleann pipes (national bagpipe of Ireland), tin whistle, low whistle, guitars, bouzouki, bodhrán, backing vocals
• Floor Jansen - lead vocals (Floor is Nightwish current and THIRD Lead Singer)
• Kai Hahto - drums - Kai was hand picked by the groups original drummer Jukka Nevalainen to replace him when he had to stepped down for medical reasons listed below. Kai is a personal friend of Jukka’s, as well as was Jukka's former drum teacher.
• Jukka Koskinen - early in 2021 was named the Session Bass Player for the Human Nature World Tour. Is in the band Wintersun with Kai Hahto.
FORMER BAND MEMBERS SEEN IN THE WACKEN OPEN AIR FESTIVAL FROM 2013:
• Marko Hietala - bass, male vocals, acoustic guitar (very recently retired from public life in early Feb of 2021).
• Jukka Nevalainen - drums ( original drummer from 1997-2014 and is who you see playing drums in this concert at the Wacken Open Air Festioval Show from 2013. He had to step down for severe medial reasons, and handpicked his replacement. Jukka nearly died from a period of 2 straight years of severe insomnia, and had to be hospitalized because of it. Even though he stepped down as drummer, according to Toumas, he is the CEO of the Nightwish Corporation now. So he is still very much a part of Nightwish.)
