Great video I'm changing mine tomorrow i have an oem varta and am changing to the newer updated version.Most people say you can change one digit and it knows it has a new battery.
Yes, it's enough to "create" a new serial number by changing one digit.

Can you register the battery with a scan tool? I used to have to register a new battery for my mini cooper and used my scan tool to do this.
Probably it depends on the scan tool.

I have a 2012 Audi a4 b8 and my battery didn't have a BEM code on it. Does that mean that I don't have to code the battery? because I am assuming that you can't code your battery without a BEM code right?
You can search for BEM codes for that battery model online and use one of them to code it.
Hey if I have put a smaller 096 battery in my car after a dead battery swap, if I don't recode will the car suffer from power drain and fail to start? I'm getting low voltage errors on a scan

Great video, but you didnt go in at the end to measuring blocks to prove if the "no Value" error was cleared on the Battery State (as shown in MMI) measuring block, you just closed down the laptop, so didn't prove if everything was normal or not.
If that is missing from the video, it's probably because I did not feel I needed to prove anythig. I did all I needed to do in order to have a new fully working battery.
My battery Bumped the BMC ( A6 C6 4F 05 3.2) which broke the ground connection to the car.. is there any way to fix with without welding the metal piece back to the carriage?

Hi. I found some codes on forums.
Your voltage when the engine is on is quite low (13.9-13.8). Some Audis of your age have problems with wires or contacts between generator and battery. Maybe you have it too. This problem leads to a chronic undercharging of the battery and its fast decline.
I have now about 14.4 or 14.5V. The battery was not charged enough at that time and I did not know.
So if the battery was discharged it supposed to give more voltage fron the alternator at that moment?
Try to search on google for 12v lead acid battery charging cycle. It's quite complex and just the voltage is not enough to know the state of charge while charging.
How you fix this low voltage?I have the same problem.Thanks
Just make sure your battery is actually charged. Just driving the car once a week for example will not charge it enough.
Just look online for 12V car battery charge cycle. It's not as simple as you think, and also charge times are really long.

Salut. Din cate stiu eu toate bateriile trebuie codate pe A4 B8, indiferent de echipare. Asa ii "spui" masinii ca are baterie noua si sa se poarte cu ea ca si cu una noua. Altfel e posibil sa omori mai repede bateria.

My current battery is 110AH and the stored code is 8K0915105F MLA.
I have purchased I the exact same Bosch as you 95AH 800CCA.. its was on special deal £75. The new battery is different capacity but if I follow your instructions would that be enough or does it need further coding because of change in capacity?

I don't think it was wise to buy a smaller battery.
You need to use a code for a 95AH battery, so the car knows what it's dealing with.
@@UltimateDIY My car is A 2.0TFSI with just basic toys. It does not have heated seats or any external audio amp so just normal power drain. Its got Sat Nav but i dont use it.
Your car has same battery so i should be fine :).
But I want to thank you for this video. Its helped understand the battery info. Until now I had no clue how to check the actual life of the battery but following your video I used OBDeleven and went to Gateway group 19 as shown in you video and found the following.
SOC =33%
State in MMI = 20%
The MMI monitor is not bad..it can be used as a guide.

Salut, si mersi de info. Am o mica intrebare, pe un A4 B8 2009, cu start-stop, deci baterie AGM OEM de 92ah, ce recomanzi sa pun? Clar AGM, dar din pacate nu gasesc nimic 92Ah, nici pe OEM, in schimb gasesc OEM 110 AH (nu stiu daca e ok, sa nu fie prea mare, si sa se incarce greu) sau aftermarket, Varta de exemplu, de 95Ah, si in cazul asta nu as sti ce cod sa folosesc... (Am vazut ca unele ar avea cod BEM).
Orice recomandare e binevenita, stima !
Salut. As pune si de 110AH. Daca e codat corect BEM de pe baterie, nu ar trebui sa fie probleme.
Daca pui aftermarket (evident AGM) cauta ceva care are cod BEM pe ea.
Avand start/stop ma gandesc ca poate managementul bateriei trebuie sa fie mai exact si poate nu e chiar ok cu cod luat de pe net, cum am facut eu.

Din cate stiu poti inversa functionalitatea butonului de start/stop. Adica sa fie oprit cand pornesti masina si sa il activezi doar cand vrei prin apasarea butonului.
Cine a insistat sa pui aceeasi capacitate? Reprezentanta?

Salut,te urmaresc si te felicit. Mie nu imi crestea mai mult de 80% pe MMI. Daca eu inlocuiesc bateria cu una noua, identica ca cea de pe masina si nu introduc codul,sistemul va crede ca bateria este tot 80% si o va tine in 80% pentru ca stie ca asta e capacitatea ei.Din verificate vorbesc. Dupa codare am 100%. Asa managementul stie capacitatea reala si incarca in consecinta. Deci schimbi bateria indicat e sa o codezi. Bafta

Ciudat este ca unii spun ca dupa o perioada masina invata capacitatea noua, chiar fara codare. Oricum, clar, varianta cea mai simpla si corecta e codarea. Atunci totul merge la sigur.
@@UltimateDIY Da,in prima instanta avand aceasi baterie capacitate etc, am inlocuit o fara codare,dupa un drum pe A2 dupa 250 km surprinderea a fost ca tot 80% aveam. Cum am laptopul si vcds dupa mine oriunde merg,am facut codarea,in 40 km aveam 100%. Deci,poti trage o concluzie,eu am tras. Bafta

Pot lega 2 cabluri la bateria noua in asa fel sa nu decuplez curentul de la masina?
Teoretic da, dar risti sa faci scurt si nu vad avantajul. Nu are nici o problema masina daca ii decuplezi alimentarea. Toata lumea o decupleaza atunci cand umbla in zonele cu airbag-uri de exemplu.

Salut am un Audi A4 B8 2010 fara Start Stop, am avut o baterie de 77ah si masina pornea greu la rece am schimbat bateria cu una de 95Ah 800a Varta, am fost sa imi dea garantie la baterie dar incarca alternatoru 13.5V o zis ca e slab sa imi dea garantia, mentionez ca masina a stat vreo o luna de zile pe putin nemiscata e posibil sa aibe depuneri de pe perii si de aia sa bage mai slab o zis sa umblu cateva zile cu ea si sa ma intorc sa o verifice iar.
Intrebarea mea este e posibil sa trebuiasca codata noua bateria a zis domnu ca daca nu are AGM nu trebuie codata, sa fie alternatoru de vina sau doar perile de pe alternator sau e posibil in cateva zile sa isi revina?

Salut. Eu as pune un incarcator pe baterie. Cu drumuri scurte nu se incarca. De asemenea incarcarea la B8 are tensiune variabila in functie de nivelul bateriei. Eu am un indicator de voltaj montat de mine (poti gasi video pe canal) si vad voltaje de la 13V la 14.5V, in functie de cat am umblat cu masina in ultima vreme. Si mie mi-a zis tipa de unde am cumparat bateria ca e slaba incarcarea si aproape 5 ani mai tarziu (sau cat a trecut de cand am facut video) inca merge totul absolut normal. Dar...nu era incarcata bine bateria cand am mers cu ea la test. Bine, nu e exclus si sa fie vreo peoblema, din cate stiu undeva nu face uneori bine masa la B8, dar eu zic ca sunt mici sansele sa fie asta. Incarca complet cu redresor (eu de la Lidl am) si vezi apoi.

O sa o urmaresc o perioada sa vad daca chiar e asa dar ar fii fain sa fie.
Cauta pe net sa vezi etapele de incarcare pentru o baterie de 12V. O sa intelegi mai bine in ce etapa e, in functie de voltaj. Mergi cu ea la test cand are voltaj mai mare 🤭
I changed battery 1 year ago.. And now I'm install remote start and is not work.. Show me klon error.., can't not read my key or something diffrent from the BCM body control module. Maybe is this issue., if I replaced new battery I never do new coddling..?

When you don’t have BEM battery ?
BEM is just a code on the battery sticker. There is no BEM or nonBEM battery. Find a code online that matches your battery brand, type and capacity.
Can I install a lithium battery? Is that an option?
I have no experience with lithium car batteries, so I don't know.
So do you connect your laptop to your car with a OBD tool?
Yes, I had VCDS 17.1 at that time.

Because I did not find a Bosch code.
Bosch and Varta are made in the same factory. Basically they are the same batteries rebranded and recoloured.
Salutare. Am cumpărat în necunoștință de cauza o baterie parca mach de 100Ah non agm pentru audi A6 C6 . Nu o pot returna. Spune-mi te rog daca as putea sa o codez in vreun fel. Menționez că dacă o codez cu orice cod pentru 95 sau 110ah ..se face 100% in MMI dar după 6 ore deja îmi arată 20%.. daca o codez iar îmi arată 100% dar apoi iar scade la 10-20%.. menționez că înainte mașină a avut la fel bateria identică cu aceasta și a funcționat corespunzător ani de zile

@@UltimateDIY da bateria este plina am pus-o chiar și pe redresor profesional , și eu am crezut la fel că poate a venit descărcată..
Bun. Trebuie sa rezolvi altfel problema, nu prin codari. Verifica tensiunea bateriei si vezi daca scade in cele 6 ore. Daca nu scade, inseamna ca e doar o chestie de soft si poti sa o folosesti asa pana o "invata" masina. Daca tensiunea scade cu adevarat in cele 6 ore ai o problema electrica undeva.
@@UltimateDIY Mulțumesc, o verific cu bornele puse sau scot bornele și verific. Păi am să îți zic concret aseară când am închis mașină din telecomanda și avea la bornele bateriei 12.7 am sa verific in câteva minute ce tensiune are acum după o noapte de stat în frig .
@@UltimateDIY 12.4V are dar sunt 0grade afara, mașină a pornit la sfert de cheie și în MMI 40% nivelul

salut, am un Audi A4 B8 2.0 TDI an 2008 cod motor CAGA fara start/stop . Acum jumatate de an mi-am schimbat bateria mea originala de pe masina adica o Varta de 110Ah cu una Bosch tot de 110Ah si din prostie m-am luat dupa gura lumii si nu am codat-o pt ca ei ziceau ca daca pun tot de 110Ah nu o sa fie probleme , numai ca acum cand a venit iarna am probleme dimineata cu pornirea asa ca am verificat pe tester si in loc de 100-110Ah imi arata 40Ah , asa ca am zis sa o codez, am facut exact ca in clipul tau numai ca pe mine nu ma lasa sa dau SAVE ... apas TEST si ramane tot codul de sus fara nicio eroare . Codul meu vechi e ceva de genul 000915105AK VA0 ...... , cautand coduri pe clubaudi baietii am gasit poze cu coduri bem puse de baietii de acolo , am incercat sa codez cu foarte multe coduri (bineinteles de 110Ah) si nu vrea sa imi salveze nimic din ce am observat totul tine de acel AK din cod , daca las codul din fata cu AK si schimb doar ultimele cifre imi salveaza (problema e ca daca schimb doar cifrele din spate imi incarca bateria tot pana la 40-45Ah) in schimb daca schimb codul din fata cu 000915105DL cum am gasit pe majoritatea pozelor cu cod BEM nu ma lasa sa salvez . Nu stiu ce sa mai fac :( sincer sunt disperat , abia pornesc masina dimineata . multumesc frumos si daca ai idee ce pot face ajuta-ma :)
Salut. Incearca si cu alta versiune de VCDS, poate nu e ok ceva la soft. Dar...sincer, nu as putea spune de ce iti face asa.
La 40 Ah nu ar trebuii să ai probleme cu pornirea, oricât de frig ar fi! Eu înainte să schimb bateria mai aveam 8 Ah și tot îmi pornea cât de cât ok și la - 3 grade...am schimbat cu una exide de aceeași capacitate, am codat-o mi-a apărut 100 Ah, dar după 1 săptămâna am verificat iar și a coborât la 68-70 Ah chiar și după 70 km parcurși nu a urcat mai sus...
Salut ai rezolvat cumva problema, ca am aceeasi situatie in care nu pot da save la noul cod introdus, indiferent ce as baga. Mersi!

You replaced wet battery with a wet one. Not with gel one...

There is no coding . Just adaptation. Coding is a different skill set
You are right, but the term used widely for such modifications is coding, so if I use adaptation most people will have no idea what I am talking about.

Some one replaced my BEM battery with similar but no BEM. Varta H15 replaced with Delkor LN5. Advice ?

Daca nu va permiteti o baterie BEM (nu spun una originala) atunci nu va mai cumparati masini din astea ... ramaneti la Logan.
Vezi ca vorbesti prostii. Bateria nu este BEM si non BEM. Bateria este AGM si non AGM.
Eu am inlocuit non AGM cu non AGM.
BEM se numeste codul dot matrix trecut pe baterii. Nu are nici o legatura cu chimia sau performantele ei.

@@AdrianP07 nicicum nu vrei sa pricepi. A4 B8 vine cu 2 tipuri de baterii AGM si non AGM. Masina mea a venit din fabrica cu non AGM, deci am inlocuit-o cu non AGM. Am pus pe masina exact acelasi lucru care era deja. Daca nici acum nu intelegi, atunci nu are rost sa mai discutam.
Si BEM vine de la Battery Energy Management, deci poti sa o lasi si cu germana ta.
