Glad OP in second story is staying away from relationships because if his big takeaway from his ordeal was “Don’t trust women” he has some serious healing to do so he doesn’t end up punishing any further women for his ex-wife’s sins.

He wasn’t deciding to keep it a secret, but it is easy to say “let’s sleep on it” before making any immediate decisions. I think the main reason he hesitated was the effect it would have on his sister’s kids. Yes, he should still tell, cause despite loving his nieces as an uncle they are still his sister’s kid to decide what they should know and what’s best for them. It is still hard to decide clearly what to do with a bomb when you never worked with one and never expected to come across one. And his BIL’s confession was a bombshell.
Now if he waited a few days- weeks even, then there is something wrong with his level of honesty.

If you are in a relationship and you have feelings for a taken woman especially if she is taken by a member of your family or close friend you keep that nonsense to yourself and you suffer in silence either till the end of told or until that relationship is over.
And then you do the one of the following.
A. Work on your relationship and stop taking your significant other for granted. Never forget what they do for your life.
B. If you can’t do A then Break up or divorce your significant other because you clearly don’t love them enough to be faithful to them.
Confessing your feelings always comes with an intent to get together which means he was trying to interfere with her relationship and hurt OP. When marriages are involved confessions are never innocent.
I hate it when men mistake my kindness for flirting. Even when I explain that I'm happily married they are still convinced they have a chance. I used to think men and women could be friends. This is why I don't communicate or hang out with any guys outside of work without their or my significant other present. If I need to text them I have my bf do it on my behalf. If we are taking pictures I make sure to never stand next to them.
